Trek Remedy 9 29er trail bike M/L

$1100 CAD
Gently used by a 55+ rider (me) whose riding style is more focused on riding cleanly rather than hucking off the biggest drops he can find. This is the upper range model, so Deore XT derailleur, XT cranks, XT brakes, Kashima coating on the Fox 34 fork (140 travel), Fox float shock (140) with DRCV dual chamber system, which was proprietary to Trek. The following work was done in 2023, so at the start of last season (I did about a dozen rides total last summer): • new KS Lev dropper post and new lever (I still have the Reverb and it still works but is slow/stiff despite two rebuilds and the KS is WAY more reliable, budget dropper or not) • suspension pivots inspected, cleaned and greased • brakes drained, new mineral oil and bleed done • new brake pads • clutch repaired on derailleur (internal on-off mechanism replaced) • new Schwalbe Nobby Nic in front (oct 2023) • Vittoria Mazza in back, about 40% worn • Back wheel has one small dent from a flat off a drop (see photo) • New cassette, new chain ring, new chain • Bike was not wrapped but it is chrome plated (not painted) so it resisted scratches quite well. • Fork stanchions are in pristine shape with no scratches, no leaking • Bike is still 2x10 which I left on purpose so I could put 22x40 gearing on it to climb steeper trails without having to spend a ton of money for a one by system. This has been a great ride for me, one that I bought to do the 7 Summits trail in Rossland (actually did it twice, but would not recommend that because the second time you know in advance how long and painful it’s going to be!). I’m selling because at my age I think I deserve a new bike one time before I quit and I don’t think I have 20 years of riding time left in me. The bike can be ridden as is. The suspension is arguably due for maintenance but it has worked well so I didn’t do anything except set it to the default specs for my weight and I was totally happy. The trail bike I am buying has 140mm as well so it’s not because I was lacking travel. Yeah it’s ten years old but ask yourself as a novice rider or someone on a tight budget if 2 degrees of head angle and 1 cm shorter seat stay is worth 3x or 4x more money. I am asking a grand and change. Check Pinkbike Buy and Sell and you will see that nothing comes close at this price. For 1000$ pretty much all you can get is a hardtail or a 26’ wheel bike with no dropper.

Local Flavours: Complete Guide to Riding in Québec City, Québec
thanks for a great article and esp great photos; your style is punchy and contrasty, with lots of color and a tasteful blend of visual elements that highlight the natural beauty of the place and not just the biking exploits. I have lived in Quebec City for 20+ years and need to pinch myself sometimes to be reminded of how fortunate we are here; amazing quality of life for way less than other cool, sports-minded cities, a different language to add a bit of "piquant" and nature -summer and winter -so close at hand. Vive l'expérience québecoise!
