bigquotesOver the past three summers, I have been lucky enough to spend a substantial amount of time riding throughout Colorado. Between the fantastic public dirt jump spots, bike parks, and trail systems, it really doesn’t get much better. As an east coaster, before moving out West, I wasn’t used to seeing packed trailhead parking lots and bikes everywhere, so when I roll up to places like the Maryland Mountain trails and see hundreds of people, I can’t help but smile. Seeing so many people who share the same passion for biking is so rad and is a big reason why I have enjoyed spending so much time in Colorado. I hope this film can help share with you the beauty of this state and the quality of riding that is available, it is truly amazing.

Trestle Bike Park mountain biking trails

bigquotesFor the filming of this video, we focused our time between three locations: Trestle Bike Park, Frisco Adventure Park, and Maryland Mountian. In my time in this state, these places have really stood out to me. Trestle has a wide variety of terrain and a great crew behind the scenes keeping the trails running, Frisco has some of the best public dirt jumps I have ever seen, and Maryland Mountain has one of the gnarliest trails I have rode in Colorado (Ore Chute). Each of these places ended up serving us very well in our filming, and I can’t thank the Trestle crew enough for providing us with the ability to set up the cable cam, the ‘Jump Doctors’ at Frisco for maintaining such a fantastic park, and the builders of the Maryland Mountain trails.

Maryland Mountain Quartz Valley Park mountain biking trails

bigquotesI hope you have enjoyed this series so far, as we have been having a great time creating each episode. In case you missed episode one, you can find the video below. For the third and final episode, we will be heading to Highland Mountain, where I grew up riding, as I have had the opportunity to help design a new trail and will be aiding in its construction. When the third episode releases in September, the trail will also be open to the public, which is very exciting. Thanks for following along, and I will catch you in a few weeks for the next episode!

Peace,
Pete

as an east coaster at 190ft elevation, colorado has always been heaven like to us. spending lots of time in the 90's and the past few years have been some of the best trips ever! even getting our butts kicked by post covid wrecked lungs in some high elevation places, there isnt a place we'd rather be! and hopefully soon enough our little yeti tribe of 3 will be back to find and enjoy more colorado dirt!

Get a good vehicle first with 4x4, if you wanna cut out massive amounts grueling uphill pedaling for the more remote higher elevation areas and be prepared to drive good distances in between in order to hit an assortment of awesome riding. People are really cool and friendly; so finding someone to shuttle stuff with or just shred with, is fairly easy, don't be shy to befriend people and ask to join them or they you. I've had good experience's doing so and even done plenty solo.. but you wanna ride conservatively and aware when solo being mindful of big kitty Cat's especially at dusk!

Maryland is 20 min drive, Floyd Hill is 10 and once Idaho Springs Argo trails get done we will have three great riding spots in Clear Creek/Blackhawk. Can’t wait!!! Great clip of shredding around here. Well done!

Sweet video! It's really fun to see someone going so fast on trails you've ridden before. Maryland mountain is so good, I'm hoping we get more stuff like that in the front range.

Are berm blasts like that okay to do? Do they erode the trails? I know it's all the rage and looks sick in vids and photos but I always thought it wasn't acceptable in many places. Legit asking.
  • 7 1
In many cases, yes, they do erode the trails depending on the type of dirt and can leave holes behind as time goes on. Thankfully I’m good friends with the guys on trail crew at Trestle and they knew we were out there filming…

I almost didn’t recognize trestle without all the braking bumps. Also MD Mountain is a blast. Looking forward to the Idaho Springs trail system to be completed as well.

MD Mountain is so rad. One of the coolest places I have ridden in a long time, very impressive. I have heard good things about the shuttle trails in Idaho Springs, but I will have to look more into that project, thanks for the heads up!

I have that same exact bike! But mine doesn’t go as fast as that one. I wonder why.

For me, I have found some significant speed improvements with the matching blue fork, might be worth a shot!
