"It doesn’t matter how good you think you are, but at some point, you will ask yourself the question: WHAT DID I SIGN UP FOR? "

Come and see it yourself.
5 days in saddle, 292 km, 11 000 m elevation.
Quite a ride, hey?

2 disciplines: MTB extreme marathon and Enduro with timed downhills, but don't worry, you still need to pedal the whole length of course

Come and experience beautiful nature around Czech and Polish border with fantastic views, unique ride on a volcano, epic singletrack, rock slabs, technical uphills, steep downhills, flow trails and super gnarly sections.

So wish me luck!

@wideopennewzealand: the irony of your username...
  • 4 0
@Primoz: hahha yeah! well, it is wide open on the *inside* and most of us are more than happy to have a closed border
  • 2 0
@wideopennewzealand: I saw it as wide opened on the inside, don't worry Wink

Not a single face in any of the photos (aside from the kids) indicates there is any fun being had during this race.
  • 1 0
I think you need to google "Type 2 fun."
  • 14 1
some great shots but the one of the kids is fantastic

I raced the Sudety Challenge Stage Race a few years ago which is very similar to the Trilogy. It was 100% a worthwhile adventure, affordable and consisted of plenty legit mountain biking. People were friendly and race was well organized. Highly recommended.
  • 2 0
yeah Sudety looks great as well . tough one tho
  • 3 0
Best race, best technic trail. Best peaple. Best atmosfere. Complet RZ in Demo Enduro Race MTB Trilogy 2019 (cca 200km ,and 8000m elevation) mine YouTube Channel.

 @militantmandy:

Enduro. version Demo Enduro Race MTB Trilogy. Only 210km and 8000elevation
  • 2 0
@MartisSuranko: This sounds slightly less insane than the full course!
  • 1 0
 @militantmandy:

yes, there is the possibility of a shorter route
  • 4 0

Oh now........ If ever there was an excuse to buy a new bike and go test it and myself ????

Has anybody else noticed that this costs less than your average (Insert arbitrary holiday) 10k in the US?
  • 1 0
@skeeple: And is it good or bad?
  • 1 0
@Chrrr: Such a simple question, such a complicated response...
Albeit a bit of hyperbole, entry fees for road (running) races in the US are getting ridiculous. Ignoring any ethical or socioeconomic concerns with taking advantage of a favorable exchange rate - it looks like a great value!

TL;DR: Good.
  • 2 0
all you need is jsut getting to Europe and you are god to go
  • 1 0
@skeeple: Don't worry about the lower price. Czech is very cheap country for you! For example; you will pay for 1 bear 1,5 USD.. And think that there is full service during the race Wink
  • 2 0
I did this race two times, and you can bet im coming back! such a great experience
  • 1 0
How would you describe the riding? Is it quite XC orientated?
  • 2 0
@militantmandy: Does current WorldCup XC downhills looks gnarly to you? I would say it is about on that level.
Slowing down a bit you can clear most of sections without major troubles.
Done it in 2019, 2020 and coming back 2021.Still few places I can progress on and clear them.
  • 1 0
@skvedo: I'm not too worries about getting down the hard bits, as that's mostly the kind of riding I do. As you say, if it's really scary I can just rein it in a bit. I was more that the timed sections of the enduro might contain a lot of pedalling, based on some videos I've seen.

Trying to decide whether I have the legs/willpower for the full length or if I should go for the moderate course. 70+km and 2500+m per day is...a lot! A normal big day on the bike for me would be something like 35-40km and 1200+m of climbing.
  • 3 0
@militantmandy: I'm riding marathon so not so sure about enduro stages but what I have noticed it won't be more than few hundred meters of pedaling during stage occasionally. One exception was ultra long stage covering whole length of Trutnov Trails Bunkr trail (~20 minutes depending on rider) where is also fair bit of climbing between 2 sections of trail.

With your description of big day probably go safe for shorter B route but schedule extra day(s) of your stay in Czech to visit Trutnov Trails as B route skips them.
  • 2 0
@skvedo: I think you're right. I believe the full length course would be just a bit too much for it to be enjoyable. Thanks for the info!

This sounds epic! Do races such as the Trans Rockies Challenge still exist?
  • 2 0
@cjm330: MTB Trilogy is a little bit different than Trans Rockies. There are not Rockies mountain in Czech, there are lower mountain and you ride up and down manytimes...
But the nature is unique in both country.

 @cjm330

Yes, pick your poison. www.transrockies.com

Can pinkbike add this weekly as "Wednesday Wipeouts"?
  • 2 0
#24 getting passed by #205 @:32 is gold.
  • 2 0
Looks great, any idea on prices to enter?
  • 5 0
I've worked out that me and three pals could fly from Edinburgh, rent a big van, enter the race and stay in a private air bnb for about 550 each. Seems like a bargain!
  • 4 0
@militantmandy: A participant from Ireland once told us that the whole MTB Trilogy is less expensive than a single-day race at his home. And if you add the cost of a bier for 1 Euro and beautiful Czech and Polish women all around, cant find a better biking holiday Big Grin

Has anyone done it on a hardtail? I would love a full squish but my wallet would love me to keep my hardtail.
  • 3 0
Many riders including 2019 Marathon Extreme winner (even with rigid seatpost that time). Dropper post recommended.
  • 1 0
No dropper is just asking for trouble down under. @skvedo:
  • 2 0
I'll be entering in the Strider class. Those kids don't stand a chance.
  • 1 0
as long as you don't break your bike in half Big Grin
  • 2 0
 That looks fun!
  • 1 0
Missed opportunity to call it the TransBroumov
  • 2 0
Looks like there were a couple of TransKurwa moments in the video
  • 2 0
@geephlow: yeah tons of kurva moments for sure Big Grin
  • 1 0
So, just to be clear, bringing an Ebike would be frowned upon? (Evil grin)
  • 1 0
There is an ebike cathegory as well

Is this like BC bike race and the NIMBY 50 had a love child?
  • 3 0
