Not a racer but love to hit up the knarliest trails...rock gardens, roots, jumps you name it. Sure i can ride a lighter bike but love the confidence of riding a burly bike. Sort of a freerider?

@madmon: Those drum brakes probably worked a lot better than the alternative rim or coaster brakes during that time. Just watch out for heat induced brake fade in the long recents though.
