2016 Winners Announced - Pinkbike's Advent Calendar

 I think that they forgot mine

 Better than winning one of the advents, not getting the prize, and then not even being mentioned...

 Because you are not friend with pinkbike staff like users paulsproat, szb84, dank-regards, skulloss, pappa2beans, GettinLoose, tomr23 and xremcox. All of them won something last year too (see comments bellow).

 @mikekazimer: I asked on the deleted "pinkbike bashing" thread, but any comment on the last minute account holders winning prizes in back to back years? I really want to believe that it is dumb luck, but it is damn demoralizing when you realize that "someone" has signed up that day and instantly won while thousands (including me) have entered 10's of contests each year with no luck...

 @mikekazimer: And updated by deleting half the comments.

 @ianswilson815: Your chances of winning don't increase simply because you've entered other contests in the past - it's like flipping a coin. Just because you get tails 4x in a row doesn't have any influence on whether the next flip will be heads or tails.

 @mikekazimer: Yeah I know....I think this is my inner child whining about not winning and trying to find some excuse haha. Plus these comments sections gives us all a wonderful outlet to bitch and moan about a brand new member winning.

 @mikekazimer: I think the main point about it being new accounts is that it is more than likely a duplicate account of someone already here. They most likely opened multiple duplicate accounts on the days that there were prizes they liked.
Just a possibility.

 @HankBizzle: We're able to see if a user has duplicate accounts, and if you take a look at all the winners, the vast majority have been members for four or more years.

 I started reading pinkbike in 98/99 if I remember correctly. Only registered a decade later though (went through a trials mountainbike phase).

 @SintraFreeride: yeah..I remember coming to the site when myspace was still half cool and Facebook was a concept. Flip phones and Compact Discs.

 I had my first account in 2000 LOL. it was banned for 300 years or something

 @SintraFreeride: If I remember correctly the original landing page logo had a pic of someone bunny hopping up an extremely large curb/loading dock sort of thing on a pink dh bike.

 @kbonesddeuce: I remember the old videos with guys doing urban freeride/DH in winter in Canada. I remember Dropin season 1, I remember hardtails with monster ts that weighed more than modern DH bikes, I remember Double Down, Josh Bender with his massive seismic hubs laced to 24in Double wides with Gazzaloddi 3.0s, I remember drooling over all the Brooklyn Machine Works Freeride bikes. A lot of Badass stuff and badass riders back in the day. Before pinkbike I bought tons of mtb mags; MBUK, Dirt, Mountainbike Action (when it was awesome), amonst others. I used to follow the Worldcup on Eurosport watching XC, DH, 4x and dual. All the greats: Miguel Martinez with his rigid Sunn Chipie bike with cantilever brakes when everyone else was already on v brakes and front suspension, Nicolas Vouilloz schooling everyone on how to win by training, using telemetry and skill 20 years before it became the norm, Anne Caroline Chausson showing how she was in a class of her own by winning by MASSIVE margins and who could forget mountainbiking in the winter x-games (pure speed dual). Did I leave anything out of the late 90s? Probably.

 @RedBurn: nah 50lb free ride bikes were shit. breaking non stop and bad suspension designs. drop in was sweet though because my friends from nelson were in it.

 @RedBurn: bummer dude. The 90s were ace: Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Marilyn Manson, NIN, 150mm of travel was DH only, no twitter or facebook and downloading music was at least a week long afraid on Napster...until Metallica shut it down!

 @easy: I wish I could reminisce over those times with my riding buddies but they are all in their 20s or have been riding for less than 10 years...

 About time

 I told all my riding friends about this free to enter contest. I don't know how many are already members, or how many could be bothered to sign up for it. None of them are named Matt Mosely though so I won't have to be jealous of their new Merida.

 I think I saw a few new Hutchison tires for sale in buy/sell this morning ????

 @Joebohobo: Yeah, cause the more you ruin a good ride to post selfies the more of a human being you are, I mean, who doesn't want to be one of the cool kids?! Obviously folks who only post alot are the "serious" riders and we all know their poop doesn't stink after they make their 1,000,000,000,000th post for the day. Makes much more sense to show blatant prejudices and biases against those of us who actually have lives that require a tad more attention than the few who can spend all day on social media. Great idea. I bet that took alot of thought and effort.

 @EastCoastDHer: Oh sorry, forgot I've won some 4X nationals, raced BMX world champs (amongst other things), am studying a mechanical engineering degree and have time to play rugby, ultimate frisbee and ride at least twice a week and go 'out' a few times a week. If that constitutes having no life then I don't think there are many people who do have one... But sure, you just be the guy to hate on someone and make out that they have no life when you know nothing about them.

I have no problem with you, I've never met you and don't know who you are. All I did was make a suggestion as I, and many others, feel that this draw could have more ways of keeping out people who make extra accounts. Just seems very narrow minded to assume that anyone who posts on here often has no life at all.

I really hope this comment doesn't come across in an angry way as I'm not, I'm just trying to explain my point. Please be a bit more mindful next time you think of posting something like that

 @EastCoastDHer: You are overreacting a little, it's just unfair that somebody makes an account just the same month that this thing starts and wins.

 There are probably legal ramifications to limiting the contest to certain users. In the end, it's probably just in their best interest to have the contest open to everyone.

 @EastCoastDHer: There is nothing more annoying than riding with someone who "needs" to stop every 17 seconds to get their strava going or take a picture of themselves for Instagram. I hate my generation.

 @passwordpinkbike: I've had an account for a couple years and never won anything, but I really don't see how that's unfair. Pinkbike wants more users and it is a free giveaway...

 The truth is we will never win

 Wait what?? A user won a bike two years in a row??? That would literally be a statistical impossibility, without it being rigged.

 apparently PB made a mistake when they posted the list of winners from this year - the Whyte bike from this year initially showed the winner of last years fat bike - a guy who created his account the day before the drawing and never posted again - when PB users, including me, went apoplectic our comments were deleted. Apparently it was a mistake, a gigantic mistake _ I was so pissed I looked to try to delete my account, but then I saw all my Remy videos I have saved and changed my mind.

 @deadtime: maybe PB will have the nads to explain what happened

 And Dazuco, won it the same day they created the account.
