NB: This year, the event will be streamed live exclusively on ESPN+ in the U.S., and on Red Bull TV in all other countries. The complete event will then be available on-demand on both ESPN+ and Red Bull TV following the competition.
@learningcycles: ESPN+ is not free with Verizon. You have to pay for ESPN (TV service). I have verizon as an ISP and don't have ESPN in any form whatsoever.
@learningcycles: Right, that's the point. You don't get ESPN+ for free with Verizon. You have to pay for a package that includes ESPN+. The reason you have ESPN+ is because you pay for it, not just because you are on Verizon. There are many Verizon packages without ESPN+.
It would be a shame if someone broadcasted this on YouTube for people in the US that don't have ESPN+. Even more shameful and disgusting if they left a name of what YouTube channel it was on in the PB comments. There's a lot of sick lawbreakers that would do such a thing.
I happen to have ESPN+ cause in my house we have the Hulu & Disney+ package. ESPN is NOT promoting it whatsoever and it was nowhere to be found on the site... even search didn't return results until apparently they indexed it a few minutes ago. Putting aside fair criticisms of ESPN, RBTV, and monetization for a moment, this is just really sad. That's not good for the growth of the sport, riders, fans, etc. And its absolutely pathetic on ESPNs part.
@jrocksdh: Yup, had to search for it on ESPN+ to even find it. They were promoting some random ivy league tennis game and Kabaddi (Indian sport) over Rampage. Just odd, and frustrating.
@pargolf8: You bored numbnuts? Far from poor just thought it was stupid to region lock something taking place in the US. Maybe if you take Redbull’s dick out of your mouth, that might make sense.
I stopped watching this Live years ago due to the constant delays where nothing happening. Much better to watch the replay the next day and skip all the nothingness in my opinion.
Last year was the first time I'd watched live. I found it super-stressful and don't plan to do it again. TVS crash, ugh. And the looooong wait while that one rider was seeing if he could do caveman drop-in with the wind (was that TVS too?). I'll happily wish all the riders a safe run and wait for the highlights!
really not digging red bull's new approach with their event streaming. straight rhythm was espn+ in the US and now rampage is espn+. what happened to just streaming it free on red bull tv so everyone could enjoy it live? cheap f*cks.
@onawalk: i'm pretty sure they sell enough of their poison world wide to cover all events. red bull used to put these events on to stoke the community, now they've just monetized it. it's complete ass. also, you're in canada so you're still enjoying this event for free. i'd like to see how you truly feel when you have to pay to watch what was free last year and every year up until now.
So everyone else in the world gets to watch it live for free? But for Americans where this event is held we have to pay to sign up for a subscription based service? That doesn't really give me the warm fuzzies feeling.
@novajustin: ahhh, so you get to decide how much, and by what means they make their money. Good to know. It sounds like you’re just salty that you can’t watch it live for free?
@onawalk: doesn't matter to me, i've already got a login. it sucks for the rest of the people who don't. the next generation of riders who look up to the guys in these events who now can't watch this live and share the stoke. that's what pisses me off. but go ahead and keep your narrow minded thinking up.
@novajustin: Uhmm, "red bull used to put these events on to stoke the community, now they've just monetized it." Do you really believe what you just wrote there? It has always been about the money. You being stoked made them $$$, not the other way around.
@bmccrady: Here comes the American hate. Cause every mtn biker in the US is a red blooded capitalist that loves their government. Pull your head out of your ass.
@onawalk: I've been working for them for 22 years as an independent contractor. It's not about making money off the event. It's an advertising expense. Each year they bring on my co-sponsors which is something Red Bull rarely does for their other events.
@novajustin: @novajustin: It’s so good that you were here to be vicariously offended for the children! Since you have a login, I can only assume you’re sharing that with others, especially the children, so they can have their stoke increased.
If only there was some format to share pics and videos, done both professionally and by amateurs, curated by title, and interest, that was ad supported, so the money didn’t come out of the pockets of the children. Maybe there could also be enthusiast websites, where people could go daily to get ad supported content, again, so the money didn’t come out of the pockets of the children…
In fairness my man, I’m just poking at you, no harm meant. I might think it’s silly to be upset by it, but hell, I got upset on my commute for some ding-a-ling not using their indicator. The price we pay for all the abundance and opportunity we have.
@vandall: cool man, Ultimately bringing on other sponsors lessens the financial burden directly on RedBull. It’s always about making money, RedBull does not put on events without some sort of financial benefit to them selves.
I’m not sure why people have issue with that, but I’m open to hearing arguments on both sides
@onawalk: I'd bet money you'd be b*tching if you didn't get to watch it for free up there in cannuck-a-stan. For those of us who got screwed buying tickets (sold out in 2 second), didn't want to pay $150 for a GA ticket (used to be $15), and don't care to support ESPN (cuz wtf else am I going to watch, sportsball?), this is a crying shame.
RedBull, H5 Events and ESPN - y'all aren't welcome in Utah if you're just gonna come destroy our landscape, monetize athletes without providing insurance or fair compensation, and leave shit-pile of trash in the desert. If, however, I got to watch this event I may look past your egregious oversight in screwing the local community out of viewing the event.
@Bubbaace: honestly, It’s a cool event, but, and feel free to lambaste me here, I might lean towards the opinion of Henry Quinney when I say, I’m not really into slopestyle events. This feels like a slopestyle event again. Nothing against anyone, they are unreal, phenomenal athletes, and I have the utmost respect.. I’ll happily watch highlights, and be in wonder and amazement of what I’m watching.
I think Lacondeguy, Sorge and Brage bring an element that I enjoy more than the clinical stylings of Rheeder and Semenuk, but I certainly don’t shit on anyone who enjoys that. It’s all beyond my abilities, and can’t wait to one day go to the area to better grasp the scale of it.
@onawalk: We're talking about mountain bikers. You know, the dudes that sleep in the parking lot of races, sneak into hotel pools for showers and wash their bikes with hose bibs on the back of a McDonalds. This event asking us to buy a sportsball subscription is ridiculous.
I'd be happy to give $10 to every rider out there in fair compensation. But when the money is going to line Disney's pockets, its a sad state for our sport.
But hey, you sound to me like a guy that just picked up a bike during the pandemic, have a pair of elbow pads and a mouth that runs faster than you bike. So, uh, enjoy the new rampage - it seems to be designed just for the likes of you
@novajustin: RB have only ever been interested in making money from the sport. They have never been interested in anything else. It’s always been about selling tons of drinks
@Bubbaace: it’sa good job this isn’t even close to the best event of the year. It’s boring to watch live. Far too much time between riders when the commentators and interview bimbo talk rubbish
@michael-polei: if your not prepared to pay then don’t expect riders to get paid more either. RB, ESPN are only interested because they make money from it. Don’t think either really cares about the sport
You have to pay for ESPN+, then on top of that, deal with bullshit team sport commercials during a live stream to boot... So I assume they are delaying riders to fit those in? GFY Red Bull and ESPN
Even after the event is over, watching the replay on Redbull.TV and I'm about to have a seizure. Their playback is so choppy for some reason, and will never finish buffering. Guess I'll wait for the highlights and give them a week to buffer before trying to watch anything...
does anyone know how to actually find this on ESPN+?? I searched rampage. it doesn't show in the "upcoming" section. I'm baffled how I'm actually going to watch this.
It's amazing what these gladiators are doing. Dang, I hate the wind. Every year I get anxiety just by watching Rampage. Love it, but hate it when someone gets hurt. Heal Up Kyle!!!
So much bitching over paying $10's to watch the pinnacle of freeriding. People pay $79 to watch a UFC fight and don't spend the whole time complaining or asking why it isn't free. It's great that Red Bull has streamed these live events historically for free (part of branding), however I also think that it wouldn't be the worst tragedy in the world to expect to pay 10 bucks or so once a year to watch the best bikers in the world entertain us for 4 hours.
Bro I’ve been waiting all year for rampage and then they want to do this to me!!! Ima bouta cry fr fr so disappointing and there is no free trial for ESPN+
@rallyimprezive: You're wrong. Read it again. It will be available for replay for US on ESPN +. It will still be geo restricted on Redbull TV. Same as the UCI DH races. It's no different.
@jeffkill: I read it differently. “ This event will be streamed live exclusively on ESPN+ in the US with the replay available on Red Bull TV & ESPN+ immediately after. ”
Maybe I’m wrong, maybe you’re wrong? If it’s really important to you, you can come back later and say “I told you so” and I’ll admit to being wrong. Whatever makes you feel good.
@rallyimprezive: If it's anything like the UCI DH races it will still be geo restricted. It's not that important to me. Just clarifying misinformation for others lol.
@notsosikmik: freeride is literally riding a bike how you want down the hill, tricks or no tricks it's what the riders make of it and not up to some clowns on PB to decide whether or not it's true to the sport
@Joyrode: I see your point and I guess I should be more specific. I think it should be either a) highly rewarded to ride really technical gnarly sections (think loose skidders, or multiple consecutive smaller drops, things like that. OR b) Lines that lack that element and are too groomed/ buffed out have some sort of penalty attached. That is all I am trying to say. I just don't think the stuff that is incredibly gnarly in real life to ride transfers very well to the home audience and is not getting the points it deserves.
Riddle is the man out there! Sending it big! Fully executed Old school moto tricks with the exposure factor on those cliffs is just epic to say the least.
Pretty bizarre.

I’ll be watching out for the event you host, that’ll obviously be free to watch and attend.
The more advanced notice you can give me the better, however I am due for another visit to Utah. Love me some RedRock Brewery

keep on trying to belittle people who you think are new to the sport, thats a good look on you.
Also Lacondeguys run was awesome!
Keep fit and have fun out there
Then RedBull TV.

I only assumed it would be region locked due to the fact that we still can’t watch the replays of every other single event that’s been region locked.
