Dual slalom on steroids .. I Dont know if Brian Lopes can hang!

Lope is 44 and still destroys! No, he does not have circus tricks in his bag but he still throws down a ton of style!

@onemanarmy: Wynn is good, but i prefer the crisp clean audio through Tippies mic as appose to Wyns water bottle.
  • 4 1
@jakecallcut: What about the sausage? I thought that came through pretty clear?
  • 3 2
@onemanarmy: Wyn is my favorite right now. Just the fact that he went around asking slope riders how they felt about DH and DH riders how they felt about dirt jumping, I don't know that's the kind of shit I want to pick the brains of pro's about. He's the f*cking man, and don't talk shit about his microphones all of you that duck was great.

Tommy G was amazing, I love his style! Kinda disappointed that some more basic tricks got negative points though cause all the riders were sending it and they all aren't ss riders so expecting crazy tricks out of everyone is unrealistic :/ however it was an awesome event for sure!

Brandon semenuk should participate in this I would love to see how he does
  • 4 5
Damn. Watts should've made it farther...dude was so clean and fast too. Honestly I don't think the judging was consistent. Nobles should have won his last heat too. A racer throwin tricks almost beyond his ability should score a little higher than a slopestyle master throwin something way within their capabilities, esp if there is a rotation. Negatives on some non tricks and zeros for the same on other runs. Quit trying to manipulate the rider lineups. Kerr should've been out earlier too. Done ranting. Oh, and by the way...I love this shit.

Is there a point deduction for a repeat on a trick? if not, there should be. And with the racers doing tricks out of their comfort zone, you could say the same for SS riders trying to go out their comfort zone by going faster like hitting corners harder etc... works both ways in a sense because going fast can be pretty scary. And those who can go fast and do good/smart tricks deserve a win.
  • 2 2
Agreed. Although a lot of SS riders can handle the speed and berms and aren't far off on speed all around. Most are great at the pump track too. Judging just seemed a little off even though the new format is dope.

@rcrdrvr: but then you could also argue that they are therefore the better rider suited for the event and that the racers in order to win must throw some tricks as it isn't just an ordinary DS race. You can't really give the racers some slack just because they aren't comfortable with tricks, they enter the event by their own choice and if they expect to win they must be able to throw tricks and be fast. allot of SS riders have that skill set thus they often times come out on top or near. Speed and style is a hard one to judge though. I doubt it will ever be perfect. At least it's fun, entertaining and offers variety.

(edit) not directed at you btw but allot of the hate towards Speed and Style judging is because some people pick sides and say (but that guy did crazy tricks) or (that guy finished way before the other guy) and not taking into account that it is speed AND style, both factors matter. The crazy trick guy may not have been fast enough to out weigh the score or the racer may not have had the right tricks to add onto their lead to out weigh the score also.

Mainly just talking about Nobles throwin down a couple tricks that I just thought he never had. I think he got judged a little unfairly. The SS riders are def the ones for this event. If racers can throw in a rotation and still put down the speed then cool, otherwise I think they shouldn't even make the cut. Again I think a couple of non tricked jumps got zero and some got negative points...just a little more consistency. Def fun to watch and I'd hate to be a judge. Although I'd rather judge this than the SS event, that shit is so tight.

It's even better than slopestyle... Pace and style! Style and rivalry hand in hand.
  • 5 1
honestly this years dual speed and style had me screaming, I always considered it a lesser event but this shit is crazy.
