The first rendition of Black Sage by the Fest Series was hosted by Kyle Jameson and Carson Storch east of Bend, OR at the Oregon Dirt Park. All the boys travelled from the corners of the earth to enjoy a week and a half of shredding the Black Sage course, and all that Central Oregon has to offer. Kyle and Carson spent 6 months carving the line out of the earth, and it was enjoyed by all. Thanks to all the fans that came out to support the boys on the public day.
That turn down flat 3 is the coolest thing ever done on a bike and Tyler's moto whip at 3min where he pops off oppo (whatever you'd call that) damnnnnnn
Sure the jumps are big, but it was effectively just a smooth dirt jump line. Not necessarily what I would think of as freeride really. Not that it matters though, it was still cool
Shocked by the lack of protections!!!! Where are the neckbraces, the back protections ? As pros on top of the sport i really wish they could show the (good) example... one day maybe, a crash will be lethal and then all the # will come up and everything.... please not again... for this reason, they shoukd take EVERY safety measure possible to minimize that risk: and it begins with wearing all protections.
Why are you shocked? this level of protection is what people have been using for years. If you expect them to all be going out in 90s Dainese stormtrooper kits I think you might be disappointed.
Personal protective equipment is really a riders choice.... while some clearly offers more protection than others, some pieces also have the ability to limit performance or cause harm... its a more complex discussion than all or none.... think about the free-solo / speed climbers (movies for your monday) ..if they had ropes, they actually wouldn't be able to accomplish any of what they're famous for.
I too got half way and was bored but hey no one says you have to watch it all
Frequently find mtb is way more fun to do than watch which is the way round i like it, watch bmx , skate, moto for stokes ride mtb for jokes
I'm sure you guys are big enough to handle some feedback so here goes - I think these vids need some thought. The action is RAD but as vids they are weirdly a bit dull. No context or narrative structure to help the viewer.
1) introduce the location theme, and riders, 2) introduce some drama, working to get the course ready, trials and tribulations of getting the event running etc, mucking about beforehand etc. Show riders guinea pigging the course / working out how to ride it. 3) show the rad action now it has some context. 4) close out of everyone finishing up.
Easy to do as 1,2 and 4 could be done with 2 minute snippets of interviews or graphics but would make the vid stand up on its own better than the smogasboard of big jump stuff from start to end.
The notes are great but no one reads those...

Get that into scripted into the video somehow and that’s a good start.
Just some thoughts as it’s by far some the raddest riding we get to see but I think the showcasing of it could be better
Think the point of fest is, they don't care how you want it. This is how they are going to do it.
Personally some of my fav vids cause its just about the steez.
I tend to agree...the videos are dull and get boring quick...sick another whip from another dude on a DH bike. Not saying its not impressive but I just don't get the boner some of you do for these...it must be the punk rock / death metal that is clouding your judgement.
A little more context would be nice and something...anything...just clip after clip is great but 7 minutes...yawn. I can only make it half way through these usually.
Lame intros, and machines Digging are the last thing anyone wants to see.... the pre/post lifestyle shit may be great filler home movies and gorb-pro edits ... but not here. all Killer, no filler. #Fest
twitch was the first person to get them real nasty.
