Rachel Atherton once again did what she does best and went fastest but just barely. Only 0.66 separated her and Tahnee Seagrave at the finish.

See who is going to be starting when.

 I fucking hate the UCI
  • 20 1
It’s not just the UCI. Anyone whos been involved with media and the world cups/champs knows that Redbull have had a massive say in how they want the sport to be broadcasted. Tracks, coverage, riders, start lists.

Minnar is going to have a sore arse the amount of time he'll be spending on the box!
  • 7 1
 @Fektor: I f*cking hate redcow.
  • 4 0
Sponsors—the big one with a super inconsistent rider—started the charge to change the order, and all other big companies joined in.
  • 2 1
 @RedRedRe: thanks Whitley
  • 1 0
@Fektor: sure they (Red Bull) put in a lot of money so they expect some things to be their way but I guarantee they would rather have Minnaar in the top twenty. They broadcast the finals for free.
  • 4 1
red bull is cool becuase it broadcast the races-however i never had an issue to watch them before they took over. All they do is sterilization of sports.
  • 5 0
@RedRedRe: I have found the coverage hugely better since they took over and more consistent
  • 1 0
@multialxndr: all things evolve. The real question is how would it have evovled if it was still under Freecastor? Would Rob Warner still have his voice and liver?
  • 2 0
@Fektor: Redbull didn't even produce the Worlds last year did they? UCI gave it to a local broadcaster I think? And they f*cked it.
  • 3 1
@Robbyc1979: yeah, they put a lot of money everywhere but I remember when Paul Basigota got hurt really bad one of the problems were medical expenses. Red bull should have come forward a pay for all his expenses and support him. I hate redbull, this sport doesn't need redbull. They only care about showing huge and fantastic things to the masses in order to sell their shit. I hate them, they are parasites to me !!!

Today Loic saved Uci’s ass..because a race with almost an hour of red splits could have been pretty...BORING
  • 76 2
Why can't we just go back to fastest qualifier goes down the hill last?
  • 25 23
Because being consistent with how every other race was run this year would make way too much sense.
  • 8 0
The world champs starting order has gone by the uci standings for years.
  • 2 0
@dingus: but they didn't have a 'quali' either in those years.
  • 63 0
Martin Maes. Qualifies 4th, starts 53rd. Its going to be a long video of red splits if he gets a winning time.
  • 25 1
@lankylard : If he wins they probably wont even have it recorded ! ......Cough.....cough.....again!
  • 3 0
@rockchomper: oh no no.... the video footage most certainly existed of Maes racing the course. Its how the crowds at the bottom watch the racers coming down.
  • 2 0
yup. should be qualifying order but then slot in top 10 overall riders who didn't qualify for the live broad cast in as the start of it. that way we will always be able to watch all top contenders, and if you have the race of your life and win qualifying you still start last.
  • 4 1
He actually starts 29th from the last man down the hill and 53rd from the first man down.
  • 1 0
Not this time. Eddie, Reece and Finn are not long after him.
  • 13 1
I hope maes wins and ruins redbull and UCI’s day
  • 1 0
Huh? Broadcast starts at 12:45 CET, racing starts at 13:00. Doesn't that mean they show every run from the seniors? seem to remember they've done that in the past...
  • 2 0
Martin Maes 4th with no chain for half the course.
  • 5 1
Does anyone know if we're going to see the top 80? Or just 3 hours of "analysis" and the top 20?
  • 1 0
@Trailsoup: I think they usually DO show all the riders at World's - iirc you usually see a bunch of total unknowns because all the countries involved send a team, whose riders may or may not be in the top 30 odd that we are used to.

Can we vote for a new president of the UCI?

I vote Cathro!!
  • 6 0
 Vote for Pedro
  • 5 0
@IllestT: do you ever hit any sweet jumps?
  • 33 0
Danny hart warming up on a Mondraker solid photo choice....
  • 5 0
 Paha for real. Nice catch!
  • 5 0
Let the team rumors for 2019 begin...
  • 23 2
UCI seems to be a real joke..why killing the show for some stupid rule ??
If we’re lucky enough we will see another race with no hot seat changes..oh damn..here in Italy we’re even not lucky to see the whole race..
THANKS UCI
  • 2 0
It is the sponsors—read the big companies—asking to change the order.
  • 3 0
@RedRedRe: And the UCI should have respectfully said no.
  • 25 1
What exactly was the point of qualifying? Culling the herd?
  • 2 1
 In a word, yes.
  • 1 0
 @Verbl-Kint: In a herd, moo.
  • 21 2
For F**k shake is everyone new to cycling today or something??
It is the World Champs, so they do it on UCI RANKINGS always have been, same for MTB XC, DH cyclo cross Champs etc.

www.uci.org/mountain-bike/rankings

UCI points are getting by going to UCI events, NOT just World cups, so Nat champs have points and other smaller races, (thou less points for the win etc) so do more races (and do well) get more points. be out injured = less points, race EWS = less points Not rocket science.

So don't have a go at Redbull, thank them for showing the race for FREE.
  • 3 1
I think the point people are making is why have a Qualy session during the Champs if it doesn't make a difference to the finals starting list.. which tbh, I agree with.
  • 1 0
@freeridermick: to cut out 40 riders I think.
  • 3 1
@muletron: that's even worse! They cut out people who come long ways to ride for they countries and have a maybe one of experience and they are not allowed to do the real race because of a quali that doesn't mean anything in the end.
  • 14 1
I love people doing downhill on bicycle
  • 9 0
My wife follows the racing with me, I asked her this morning if you qualified first when do you think that rider will come down the hill. Duh first...... I think the uci has messed this one up a bit. I believe if you are selected to race for your country you should get to race. It was great this last few years watching every rider get there moment riding for their country on tv.
  • 20 0
Turboute's wife has spoken, get your shit together redbull/uci.

so does anyone know what time the elite men actually start in EST eastern time USA? I have to be at work at 9am tomorrow but I was able to catch some other races on my phone while driving to work. Then once I get to work I can ignore customers and watch the end of the race. It's a bike shop so hopefully people will see that I'm watching bike racing and it's not just any race but THE SUPERBOWL of racing. If not hopefully they will get over it because I am watching it.
  • 2 0
 6:45am on sunday on redbulltv.
  • 4 0
Stream it on a tv at your work and have beers for customers.
  • 1 0
 @TobiasHandcock:
I'm all up for beers but 7am is a little early for beer. I usually wait until at least 8am.
  • 9 1
so we are not going to see Martin Maes run...
  • 6 1
They'll have to show his run as he'll be in the hot seat till the end lol
  • 5 1
Yeah and maybe not even Minnaar's WTF #showalltheruns
  • 6 0
So which riders are we actually going to see? Pretty bummed that Greg and some other top guys won't make the broadcast.
  • 3 0
You'll see everyone. They broadcast everyone for world champ. As we saw sam hill going first last year.
  • 5 1
We are gonna see Brook win worlds and that's all that matters.
  • 2 0
@TobiasHandcock: Fkn aye. That would be proper sick.
  • 7 0
 this is one big BS
  • 3 0
Brook gets screwed again...… just line them up like the qualified how hard is it. It just pisses of the racers and the fans.
  • 1 0
Would be interesting to see if this format continues into next year. It's not helped the overall show at all. We're still seeing a fast time being set early then it's not beaten until the top 10ish and the final round was just a slap in the face of the format.
  • 2 0
Can someone explain to me by which criteria this list was made? I mean it’s neither the qualifying nor the World Cup Standings. And it’s not a mix of both either. I seriously don’t get it
  • 5 0
Does anyone know where the race is being streamed live?
  • 1 0
Is there anyone at UCI who watches the race? I don't get why we have quali runs if you don't get points and it doesn't affect your start position.. Id rather start first and sit in the hot seat but it makes for boring entertainment... Youd think the sponsors would see this if anyone was watching.
  • 3 0
Also man,,, that Pierron run is going to be fucking epic. Last run of the last race by the world cup overall slayer!
  • 4 2
Here's a mad idea. For the World Champs only - ditch qualifying and make it two runs. Would spice it up a bit, differentiate the Champs from the Cup.
  • 1 1
Despite of that weird starting order, i am really rooting for Max Hartenstern. Have seen him flying through the German DH Cup, before he stepped up to WCs.
I wish him a solid and clean run!

Also i cant remember any german pilot qualifying for 26th spot in a worldcup. (Correct me if i am wrong)

All the other riders best of luck and maybe we will see Brook getting a World Champ title. Even if we know he has a lot of pressure to deal with.
  • 2 0
Did I miss something? Myriam Nicole got a DSQ in qualies but she's on the start list?
  • 1 0
I think there was 40 spots for women in qualies and only 35 riders. Is she a protected rider too?
  • 1 0
@Canonboy : she is a protected rider, so she will race not matter what happens in Quali. The confusing thing is it should put her start time as one of the first down the hill, but it did not?
  • 1 0
@dirch: yes Pompon is a protected rider!
  • 2 0
UCI ... you suck balls with your sponsorship guided starting grids... Give us back the old and fair system!
  • 1 0
I cant find world champ live in upcoming event on redbull tv,is it me or they will not broadcast world champ?
  • 1 0
They won't broadcast it some countries (they were listed in a post where everything was written) so maybe you're in one of those countries.
  • 2 0
Search for Lenzerheide in the search bar, otherwise download a vpn app called Hola and it will pretend you are in a different country
  • 1 0
Someone should be a hero and copy/paste the top 25 men, 10 women for us on mobile who have to suffer Scibd.
  • 1 0
alguien tiene el link para verlo en vivo, red bull no me deja entrar a la seccion de la world championships
  • 2 0
are they purposely trying to make it impossible to watch live?
  • 1 0
Elliot Jamieson has put down a belter of a time in the Juniors, would have just been outside top 10 elite quali
  • 2 0
Pink bike rabble getting their panties in a bunch again

  • 1 0

  • 1 0
