This has got to be one of the best things to happen on the internet...ever!

As a downhiller I am always so impressed by the timing and accuracy and sheer coolness of street bmx'ing. Love it..... MORE PLEASE !!!!!!
As a consequence I've started going with my kids to the local indoor skate park, It would appear back flips are commonplace... what the f*ck !!!
Us mtn bikers rave about Danny Macaskill but every f*cker in the skate park seems nearly as good as him. Can someone explain or am I just going mad?

I've only ever done backflips into foam but once you commit it really isn't as bad as you may think.

as a old bmx guy i can say bmx is much cheaper and you can do it almost every where you want, you get some good mate's form it and they will push you and your skills starting at a young age kinds are fearless and there bones flex
did bmx racing form age 6 tot 10 then 10 years later i rode a dh bike and loved it but i am form holland so no mountain's here
i pick up freestyle bmx and rode till i was 32 now deu bad knee's i dont ride bmx but rent dh bike's at least 5 time's a year
but bmx helpt me al lot it's the basic skill set that make's you ride better (all pro dh dj mx riders have a history in bmx)
on a bmx you got to be smooth and clean to mantain your flow
wish i could take my kid to a skate park but have to make one first, your a rad dad wish i was your son :-)

kids are getting better, faster these days man. I saw one the other day that was like 13 or 14, in Europe that was doing flairs, 720's and double back flips into a foam pit. Needless to say the kid already has his own frame and like 7 sponsors backing him up.

And you'll never see a bmx'er riding in pajamas! bmx is rad.

 @salsarider12: That's not BMX

@StanMarsh: ummm have you ever seen a bmx race? It's required

I'm a mediocre park rider, but I have several buddies who ride park at near pro level, and also ride street and all "genres" of mtb. They say, and I can back this from just feeling improvements in the park, that once you "figure out" how to ride a park, it's the easiest medium to pull tricks. Think about it -- it's literally a perfectly designed surface for wheeled vehicles to launch out of, and perfectly transition back it. Danny is taking his precision to the street, and beyond. Watch a pro bmxer in the park, and then watch a street segment from the same rider, and see how much harder he has to work in the street.

Does anyone want to go into business selling faux clip on long hair for helmets? It would be a Kris Fox signature model, and we can market it by saying it helps with things like whips, lookbacks and overall style.

i did it back in the early days of snowboarding so even white guys could rock dreads from under their toques. It never took off. But that was '88...maybe you're onto something now?

My god...after moving to vancouver last year I have been looking for skateparks all over the place...only found the shittiest ones apparently!!! Where are all those beauties!!!?? I recognise only three...

Give me a minute mark on the video of what interests you and I should be able to point you in the right direction. Just go early like these guys to allow the skaters the prime time, and bring beers for the guy on dawn patrol with the squeegee drying the flat bottom out.

 In order of appearance

Squamish Skatepark
Horseshoe Bay Skatepark AKA Gleneagles
The park with the wall ride clip might be Railside
Hastings Skatepark
Chuck Bailey Skatepark
Leeside Skatepark

*Edit, a few words of advice if you bmx. Don't show up to Leeside or Hastings with pegs on your bike, you'll be kicked out faster than you can put on your helmet. Technically Hastings is a skateboard only park (city bylaw), and Leeside was hand built and paid for by local skaters, including a 20k reno done this summer. Maybe a few bikers chipped in some coin, but not that I'm aware of. All I'm trying to say is, respect the locals, maybe avoid Friday and Saturday nights at first. We BBQ those nights, it's always a party and everyone is always welcome, and maybe bring a 6 pack of Cariboo if you really want to get in good with them.

Thanks a lot!! Anyway I have a 26" dj bike and my ability to ride it is more or less null. No I have no intention of bothering anyone, yes I would go when no one's around anyway because I'm shy, no I don't have pegs obviously.
:p

@Katakalism: the curved wallride to quarter transfer is at town center skate park / Lafarge Lake in Coquitlam. odd they didn't show any of the other quarters or bowls there.

^Agreed. Dude was one of the top 20" racers in the US in his class before he decided to step out of racing, you can really see it in his riding though. Like Brian Foster or Mike Aitken.....

As an old BMX'r from the early 80's, I loved that. Awesome how it's all progressed, if you watch some of the 'King of the Skateparks' from the mid 80's, you'll see the stuff that used to blow my mind back then. Pleased to say it still does, guess it never leaves you?!

This really makes me want a BMX more. I have been thinking about it for the past 3 months as I have a street/dj bike, DH rig, and a trails bike. I just love the attitude you can throw on a BMX.

That was supremely gnar. I can never get my head around how these guys ride without helmets or pads though. Their bodies must be absolutely broken!

This is the year I get my shit together and ride the BMX I bought three years ago and actually make some progress with it hopefully.

How are you going to leave out Corey Walsh's name in the title? Your are f*cking up large pinkbike.

Sick video, insane riding. So many good parks in van, could have extended it to a week-long trip and hit Kirkstone, Parkgate, Poco etc
  • 1 0
I thought they were riding the transit not a van Razz Awesome riding, I just wish the clips were longer.

 more of that please!

Do you think all these maneuvers could be done on a 26" DJ bike?
  • 2 0
no. esp not the lookbacks (without a way modified setup). 20's rule on tight transitions and for flickability.
  • 1 0
Did they filmed Deadpool in the underground location?..
  • 1 0
 They did indeed!
