Still one hell of a race even though it may not be the badass to look at. Im looking forward to getting a big gold and silver buckle this coming august!
@zachcalton: People have died on that descent... A customer of ours separated his shoulder last year on it. He couldn't even race it, he did that on a practice run a few weeks before the actual race.
@shfranken: That's very sad. but that is a very mellow descent. I watched a guys entire career get ended at the true grit epic 50 in st george utah on the fire road before the start of the singletrack, doesn't make the dirt road anything other than a dirt road.
Yeah buddy but this seems like a stepping stone. I dont think Im ready for the Breck Epic. That needs to wait till 2018 for me unfortunately. Thats my end game
I think this is a remnant of what it became... the popularity and history of Leadville make the "market", so to speak, put up with the lameness of the race. It's basically a gravel grinder, and I think most people are aware of that
Breck epic is looking like a much better deal.
I think I will stick with the SM100.
