The final stretch of woods before the track heads back into the open ski trail. Mix Schladming Val Di Sole and Maribor together and you get Meribel.

Marprom Ltd, a company owned by City of Maribor which is managing Maribor's Pohorje mountain, has issued documentation to find a company or individual to manage Bike Park Pohorje. Management of park's trails will be contracted for the period of 15 years.

Management includes trail development, building and maintenance, control of guests, first aid and rescue and other duties related to running of the park.

All bids must include a financial plan and a ticket price estimation. In 2017 (April 15th to November 15th) minimal income for Marprom's lift from Bike park operations should be no less than 150.000€. References and qualifications in park management, trail building and maintenance also need to be provided.

Chosen party will need to co-finance mountain's development plan (5000€) and submit insurance policy and bank warranty. They will also need to provide sufficient crew and equipment for park's operations.

Marprom will be accepting the bids until March 1st.

Documentation has only been published in Slovenian here, but if interested go ahead and contact Marprom's Mrs. Danijela Mešić via danijela.mesic@marprom.si]email for details.

Im born and rased Maribor native, live there allmost all my life. In Maribor in last yeares the locals have developed there own "local bike park" becouse of declining of Bikepark Pohorje and geting sick of local managment and town of Maribor including Mayor of not doing anything for development of Bikepark Pohorje. Been working on the first WC track and before on nacional race tracks. Last yeares been working on sick enduro trails network with a lot of help from local riders who are mega enthusiastic but let down by local authority and coruption.

Have you considered uploading those trails to Trailforks so we can enjoy them all (and also help you maintain)?

Oh, and please include a proposal to repatriate the World Cup to this venue.

@cunning-linguist: Yep, agree. Was glad to see Losinj on the 2018 WC calendar but read in the same post that Maribor lost out. Haven't been but always thought it looked a great track on the screen. Same thought about Bromont and a few other "lost" venues. Anyway, I hope something comes of this and in time we see Maribor back hosting races. Good luck

@john260164: Fun facts, the core of DH Lošinj organization crew is Slovenian, living an hour away from Maribor (less than 100km). Recently there was an interview and they said the major factor behind organizing WC was amazing local support they got on Lošinj. Meanwhile there have been countless initiatives and ideas for Maribor and NOTHING has happened. Apparently even locals are giving it up because the city does not listens to what riders want...

@pinkbikeaudience please quote source correctly. This is the original article, we have an English site on mtb.si and that is where you found the text: www.mtb.si/en/news/4195-want-to-manage-maribor-pohorje-park-here-s-the-deal.html

The lines there are absolutely awesome, but still to make 150 000 € which you have to give away is a lot. And then add in tax and your own cost of operations.

Maribor is a great venue, i know a lot of ppl from eastern Austria who go there rather than places near them (like Semmering). It would be nice to see it managed well and thriving.
