 Pinkbike, please make an APP!

Pinkbike, please make an APP! AS SOON AS YOU CAN!!!
  • 72 10
I agree, even if I don't see the point of an app when the mobile website is already good. I would rather see them invest more on movies / trailforks than making a semi-useless app.
  • 24 23
Yah but dedicated apps are more convenient.
  • 36 4
@mountainbiker-finn since you can create a shortcut of any website to your homescreen, I don't really see how. If that was any longer than clicking on a bookmark.

I'm already old...
  • 21 1
@stab0905 Yah but you cannot take pictures and post them on mobile... mobile is what most use to take pics with anyway.
It would be more convenient for just about everything.
Just my thoughts

Search "outerbike" on the app store (either platform). It's the beta version of the upcoming app. The beta only includes whistler, squamish, and pemberton, as it was created specifically for outerbike.

Apps are only usefful if they can be used as a tool. Not a link to a website lol. Ps. Why is this front page? Slow day on the mtb web?
  • 3 0
I just realized I forgot half of my sentence in my previous comment. Seems like an app would be welcome though. I'm just curious to see what it will bring more than the website.

 make an app!
  • 43 0
Or just make the Buy/Sell section better to navigate in Mobile version. . .please.

*small voice in the far back* Make an app for the few of us on windows phones too!
  • 5 0
The app will probably cost you $2.99 if you own an Apple.
  • 9 2
I would pay $2.99 for ponkbike on an app.

 What's a 'smartphone'?

I'd rather save the data and other charges to spend on bike gear. You can have your smartphone and the app, I'll go for a ride, and have fresh rubber on the ground.
  • 7 1
 Handmedown smart phone
No data or plan
Just wifi Razz
I will admit I have spent a considerable amount of time on Pinkbike
  • 3 0
@mountainbiker-finn Haha same boat for me in terms of plan and wifi deal. haha
  • 1 0
 This man speaks the truth
  • 2 3
I have the pb app on my ipod touch, with the logo and all
  • 18 2
Making an app for pinkbike is in my opinion totally useless and a waste of time and money. They would need to invest an incredible amount of energy to update it each time there is a transition between operating systems (like iOS 6 to iOS 7). A proper responsive website should address 95% of the usability issues… it would work on iOS, Android, Windows Phones, etc… even on your TV. I'd rather prefer they focus on content production than in a medium that will be obsolete in 2 years. Does it make sense?
  • 2 0
I would ask for an app but then I remembered I have a 3gs so if it could not turn my phone into a heater that'd be great. On the plus side a 3gs is fairly solid so I don't have to worry about it breaking when I fall off my bike.
  • 1 1
@mailessej to post your photos with your mobile just email them from your subscription account to post@pinkbike.com and they end up in your mobile images folder.
  • 2 1
 App would be nice!!!

wait wait wait.... actually mobile version of the pinkbike website is really clear and easy readable. and I love it. Why would you need an App for it?
  • 3 0
I often end up viewing the desktop site on mobile so i can get the highlighted new comments etc.

Can we get the highlighted/colored comments on mobile site plz?
  • 3 0
Why you need an app, if you have a mobile version? While I agree it's somehow cool to have a PB app on your phone, it's completely pointless. The less applications on your phone, the better performance.
  • 1 0
Using a mobile version is so outdated and user unfriendly. Please make a responsive site. Works even better than dedicated apps and works mostly the same on all platforms.
  • 3 0
We need an app which lets you upload photos and videos from your phone.
  • 46 3
Don't make the app look like a Session please Pinkbike Smile
  • 3 2
If only that session were chainless at the time !
  • 2 1
 @hamishca top comment dude!!!!
  • 32 2
Pinkbike - please make an app that has a big "go to desktop website" at the top. I am old fashioned...
  • 5 7
but there is a desktop version at the bottom of the mobile site.
  • 37 10
Crapple got the most votes? ROFLMAO, on a forum dominated by people that underperform on overpriced bicycles it can be expected they'd also waste more money on underperforming, overpriced phones. :/
  • 7 2
 They are 'cool' pahahah
  • 9 1
They are easy. I have android because it is affordable and versatile with a lot of plan options, but i do remember the good old days of more reliable apps, a more reliable os (though that may have changed), and of the generally pretty interface.

Apple makes sense for a lot of people. Just not people without a lot of money who want phones with fast processors and a lot of capabilities.
  • 5 3
So basically you get an Iphone if you are too daft to figure out how something works, or you just want something that look's good... The look's part doesn't even really make sense anymore since there are many different themes that you can change yourself using andriod. I know lot's of people that just get them because they are 'in' and im pretty sure that is why they are still so successful.
  • 3 1
I think mostly people just stick with what they know. Unless you are looking for some pretty niche features apple phones are fine. Most of the cool features that drew me over to android (NFC, Root) I don't even use anymore. For what I do on a daily basis I would barely notice if you swapped my phone with an iphone
  • 2 4
People get them because they are dumb and don't realize they are paying way too much for something w less features. Like a memory card slot. Hahahha
  • 3 1
I know this video is a little old, but I think some of you may get a kick out of it:

The trail forks mobile website experience is awful.
  • 30 2
I didn't realize there were so many hipsters.
  • 11 1
We all ride bikes here (presumably), so we all are to some extent Razz
  • 23 0
I still have a flip phone... what does that make me? Awesome, that's what.
  • 2 2
The funniest part about your statement is that I do too XD +1 for you, sir.
  • 24 3
Don't bother about an app for pinkbike, there is no rush to read the new on the trails. Make an app for Trailfork, the current one is useless unless you are going to report something about the trail.

I kept trying to click the inbox....the one in the picture. :-(
  • 8 0
Why do a poll when you can determine this from your web server stats?
  • 2 2
Not everyone PBs on a phone maybe? BUUUUUUUHHHHHHH! :s
  • 3 0
If they don't use PB on their phone then it doesn't matter what they have does it?
  • 2 1
I never use my phone for web browsing but I would probably get a PB app if it were reasonably priced. Although I have a windows phone so there will never be an app anyway.
  • 9 1
Get off yer phones and get on yer bikes!!
  • 4 0
@the fisherman - Or go fishin
  • 7 0
Yo PinkBike, why don't you guys just look at traffic User Agents?
  • 10 0
Because then they wouldn't get to laugh at us fighting with each other about every little thing.
  • 7 0
Pinkbike was begging to start arguments by posting this.
  • 3 0
I often wish I could send Pinkbike videos to my chromecast. Casting the whole tab is janky. Please either add this feature to your player (or use a standard player) or enable this feature through an app. I promise I'll have a lot more PB videos (and ads) playing in my home if you do. =]
  • 1 0
 See my comment below
  • 3 1
Make an app with easy access to videos. I know that when I am on break at work it would be more efficient to be able to just click an app and go straight to the videos section instead of using safari which takes forever to load.
  • 3 0
PB is great on mobile, but for the love of god, please do fix how you are not able to change the resolution of a video in a news article. it is a pain in the butt to go to each video, just so i can enjoy 1080p!
  • 3 0
 Dear Pinkbike,

please make an app for Chromecast. What is the point of all those glorious edits, when you have to watch it on 6 inch screen?

Thanks
  • 2 0
that would be sick, and glad redbull pulled their finger out so you can watch the race streams over a chromecast
  • 2 0
Whenever I have WiFi on and chromcast on, if I go to play any vid on pinkbike it gives me the option to cast.

Maybe it's an android thing?
  • 1 0
I can cast the whole page (which works in a pinch, but isn't ideal), but even when other (youtube/redbull/etc) videos offer me the cast option the Pinkbike videos never do. Chrome on mac, nothing weird.
  • 6 1
where is the Nokia brick option (no joke)
  • 3 1
Please, no app! The website always loads very fast, even at one bar gprs. Don't go down the app road. The site already looks like an app, but quite simpler and more functional
  • 2 0
how come on tablet using the mobile version i can't change the resolution, it automatically plays in 480p but when i switch to desktop version i can change it to whatever.
  • 1 0
I have found if you click on 'comments' it then takes you to vid page with comments ie:not on home screen. You then have the option to change. If you set this at 720 or 1080 then every vid you play after will play in that resolution.
  • 2 0
I got the Pinkbike POD wallpaper App, you can go directly to the pinkbike website! You just click on the pinkbike website
  • 3 1
Hm. Weirdest question ever. Can't you just see that from your google analytics account?
  • 2 1
Jeeeez, smartphones kill your brains and feelings. Do not touch the smartphone. Really it doesn't need it. Touch your girlfriend.
  • 1 0
the number of ios users makes sense, so many people already used to getting worked over every couple of years fits right into the new mtb industry strategies.
  • 7 5
Just save the link to your home screen...boom app
  • 14 2
 Yeah... No
  • 4 0
Search the Buysell with keywords and parameters. Add photos. Navigate to a photo on your profile. Edit the comment youre about to make. Then tell me you dont want an app.
  • 3 0
+ the formatting on a lot of articles don't format right on mobile, especially when a you tube video is embedded
  • 3 1
If you guys all just used a windows phone you could use the desktop version on you mobile. Enter WP hate.
  • 2 0
I just leave the pb home page open as my first tab in chrome....
  • 1 0
If you're a pinkbike fanboy then you've seen her face a hundred times the last couple years
  • 1 0
pinkbike, please let me change the video quality from the mobile site, would be most helpful for chromecasting.
  • 1 0
Make a app. It'll be so much easier to check up on

The only thing that sucks more than a Iphone is Itunes

 What's a smartphone?

 so lame

Notice the irony of the emergence of smart phones to further disconnect us from the moment and nature just as we are decisively destroying our planet that sustains our existence. Not much discussion here about the materials used in them and their destructive consequences.
