I'm reading "Blenki finding his glove" and was WTF. Jokes aside, this is not like a World Cup race and for some reason Blenki couldn't find himself when it counts the most. He had some great qualies during the past years, but always failed to deliver the same at the race day. Dunno why. One of the most stylish riders out there however.
@mbiker35: No you're not. Stop spreading bullshit the only reason you think you're faster is cause your skills are improving, you know the trails better and smaller bikes give you that illusion.
@mollow: WRONG!!!! my runs are way faster, my friends I ride with noticed right away too. My Intense is 45 lbs and and my Reign is 30 lbs. I can throw it around so much easier and explode out of turns cranking a 15 lb lighter bike around, you can just keep your speed up waaaay better. Also for a 6 inch travel bike with 65 degrees of rake you would think it won't handle the knar, but being so light I can loft it over most sections I would just plow through with my down hill bike...again makes me "FASTER". It can't do everything better mind you, like the steepest and the super craziest shit, but that's why I'm keeping my DH bike. I bring them both to the mountain and honestly I ride the Reign 90% of the day. And that my friend is the Gods honest truth.. they say it's not a great climber either but I XC 3 to 4 times a week on it too, it does pretty good, not like a champ but worth it for the way back down. No bullshit... Go demo one at a bike park, you will be very surprised
A lot of riders have just been there to train and ride. World champs and end of world cup season in the next few weeks so there is no use getting injured racing in a meaningless race.
Because any venue needs to pay UCI an assload of cash to host a WC (then they turn around and monopolize the advertising , so the venue can't cash in on any of the exposure). And Whistler just doesn't need any additional exposure, so why the hell would they shell out so much cash for that?
That's the same answer to all the questions that start with "Why don't they hold a WC DH race at...?"
So I bought one...and I am faster on it then my downhill bike. No lie...

The main 3 being: Injuries, deciding to focus on another race later in the week or season, course is too tough.
Troy is at whistler and is just riding and chilling.
If it was more meaningful you think they would all be racing.
Race @ 100% crash and the season could be over. Not worth the risk.
It's already a great event without all the UCI related BS that goes along with hosting a WC round.
There is really no benefit to Whistler relative to the cost of putting on the round.
