I imagine other manufacturers have seen the potential and are beating Richie's door down to be the next in line. He's a smart kid he will leave that yuppie ass hipster fuckin enduro brand.
Richie was allowed to race that!?! did he transfer his citizenship or was he allowed to do a timed run and not credited with the win? im mega lost. kids a beast though, so fast!
Thanks for the kind words and thoughtful advice. We sat down with Richie at the end of last season and gave him a number of different options. He said he was happy doing exactly what he's doing.
jtpentecost, are you from yeti? Classy answer. Usually not the case on Pinkbike as people get defensive about negative comments. Or maybe it was banter.
Im a big fan of Yeti racing. And right now I think the future of UCI downhill is Loic Bruni. And no other young gun comes close to Bruni - except Richie Rude. It's going to be an epic rivalry.
richie seems to be a rather quiet guy and to fit character wise very well into the EWS
I recall him saying he likes his new direction because he rides his bike far more than in DH
@csermonet Do you need to have a rundown of all that Yeti has done for racing over the past 30 years? No other bike mfg has put so much into grass-roots and WC racing as Team Turquoise. There may not even be a WC MtB scene if Yeti hadn't done what they have done for Mtb racing. Yuppie hipster brand? The neg props say it all dude.
You should know that RRsport or are you some newbie T7 employee doing media for them?. Presume your not Matt W! Because the Oceaies is the title you have when you don't have a title. The Aussies race when it's in oz and & the kiwis mostly go when its here. Occasionally you get a field that is indicative of the geographic catchment. Like in 2003 when we took the Lahar boys over (especially to see them go against a young Sam Hill) but that was only because we had the big old Lahar budget to play with. Or in 06 and 09 when it was a prelude to the worlds. A true pro tasman series that supercedes both our nat series is what's needed. That would rule. 4 races in Nz / 2 in oz. Not hating on oz this country is just set up to have great Dh races. Christchurch, Nelson, Queenstown and Nelson are just places you don't have in Oz. Like comparing NZ surfing with OZ. It can't be done.
Yo T-bot you are absolutely right. On both counts. The travel situation in Aus is transcontimental. You really need races within like five hours. Such a series would rule tho.Do ten day 4 race thing in nz in feb and 2 race one week in aus in march. Nice to dream. Wouldn't cost the average racer anymore than doing the present spread out oz or nz nats either.
We might have beaten you at the cricket yesterday but you definitely like you have a better crop of Dh groms on the come up!
I am so psyched to see Dick Rude on the top of a DH results sheet again. I understand his dedication to Yeti and their temporary withdrawal from WC DH, but he has incredible gifts. Hopefully, two years of EWS and Yeti will return to WC DH and Richie can take his place among the sport's elite. He is a great Enduro rider and a spectacular DH pilot. Clearly every bike company with a WC DH team is courting him, but props to the Man-Child for sticking with the little guy (Yeti) for as long as he has.
Kinda wild that Rude won on an SB6C just equipped with a dual crown. Shows how capable these "enduro" bikes really are. Or just how good that kid is at riding a bike.
Curious what bike he raced here?
