oppo truck driver off the start-last year he did a flat drop flip can, 360 downside whip-last year he did a 3 tuck, flip double whip the same, last year he didnt bar the wallride, cork 7 then flipwhip to can on the 4 set- last year he did a flip bar to cork 7 on the 4 set, on the boner log he did a flip bar- last year he did an oppo whip, on the hip he did a double whip-last year he did a tailwhip, up the cabin he did a double truck-last year he did a flip, on the way down the cabin he did a flat drop flip-last year he did a fastplant 3, last year he didnt barspin the toilet berm, he did a barspin up the whaletail instead of a tuck no, then the cork 7 was the same.
pretty different runs really
Rogatkin can throw down massive tricks, but he has no style whatsoever. A run full of sketchy, stiff looking bangers vs a run full of smooth as f**k stylish bangers. Style will win every time.
@chris199 Rogatkin has his tricks so dialed and has such a great attitude towards the sport. Yesterday during practice he threw down a cork 7 to cash roll purely for the crowds pleasure. Don't get me wrong, I love a nice smooth stylish run but I love watching rogatkin throw down these insanely technical and risky tricks flawlessly
switch tricks and style. two things rogatkin simply doesnt have. none the less hes and incredible rider and was great to watch today, had me hyped on that triple whip for sure.
You're mad that people agree with Jackers? Personally I though Rogatkin's run was more impressive than Semenuk's. He had riskier tricks that nobody else was doing. Maybe if Rogatkin can smooth it out next year, he'll take the win over Semenuk.
Rogatkins run was good. But Semenuk made it look easy. He barely pedaled through his whole run, just flowed the whole course so casually. He deserved to win.
@Jackers I wouldnt say dialed. Im sure he's a good bloke and like I said, he can throw down bangers, but just lacks the style to beat rheeder and semenuk.
How exactly did Greg Watts suck? His run was next level. You Pinkbike groms have it easy sitting behind a keyboard and making your narrow minded judgements. You have no idea how much athletes like Greg Watts have and are doing for this sport. Every single one of the riders competing in Joyride are insanely talented and deserve to be there. So you can start talking when you've contributed an ounce to the world of slopestlye, in the mean time keep your deragatory comments to yourself.
@CHRISTIAN-W please consider that you don't have to be a good singer to judge Justin Bieber. Watts is, obviously, an mtb hero but his slopestyle runs are always the same! 360s & backflips combined with barspins and suicides. F**k it, let me be 100% clear.
Greg Watts | Sam Pilgrim | Wins 360 drop | flatdrop BF | Pilgrim Superman sg | 360xup | Pilgrim 360 suicide nh | Cork 720 | Pilgrim BF suicide nh | BF tuck | Draw or Watts BF double bars | BF tailwhip | Draw or Watts Suicide nh | Flip | Pilgrim BF xup | 360 | Watts BF up | Tw up | Pilgrim 360xup down | 360 down | Watts Bar in | No trick in | Watts BF out | BF table out | Pilgrim
For me Pilgrim wins especially when you consider variety of the tricks. Watts score was almost 70, Pilgrim got 62. Come the f*ck on.
Probably yes. I felt like he just picking the tricks that he wanted to have in his bag, but never actually is consistent with. It also sucked that there wasn't any substitute for 2 missing guys. I'm guessing that Matt Jones or Bearclaw would love to put up a run
Rogatkin and Reynolds had great runs, both dropping tricks that others didn't get near to. Pleased Semenuk put those demons to rest but heart goes out to Rheeder who was obviously not at his best today thanks to a stomach bug.
@jakecallcut as far as I was aware, ratboy left monster, not them him? Apparently because "I just don't drink the stuff" or something along those lines (probably needed a translator to get the quote down to that)....
You would think media poduction and event coordinators would have moved that camera angle just a bit in pre production. That seems pretty easy. And with the amount of red bull i drink its about time they gave me somthing for free. Wait i pay for internet.... damm this response isn't even free..
You'd be amazed at how expensive it is to put on the event coverage like Redbull does. Sure, they are a multi-billion dollar company, but without them stepping up we wouldn't have near the coverage of these events (as well as WC downhill races). I don't buy any energy drink, but if I did it would likely be RB just so as to keep them doing what they're doing.
Semenuk is one of the best bike riders in history, amazing riders on the start list made to look average by what he's throwing down. Rheeder and Soderstrom only ones to challenge him at slopestyle at the mo but props to Nicoli from bringing new blood in
Clearly not since Semenuk has won Crankworx 4 times, and Rheeder has not won it once. Rheeder is good, but when Semenuk is on his game, he is unbeatable.
Sad to see a bunch of guys crash hard and not complete their runs, but great to see some new blood like Testa coming through. I don't think there's anyone better than Brandon at smashing a huge first run. Props to Rogatkin he's a unique talent too.
I don't say that Rogatkin got robbed but maaan his run was SO SO SO awesome, I just mean wouldn't have been disapointed to see him take the win !!! !!! !!!
Same here. If he had thrown a barspin on that transition jump, he would have tricked everything, and might have won. But he needed that speed for the next two jumps (720 and cashroll !). That was insane !
Only 93.8 for Brandon. Felt like it should be scored higher that his last year 96.x Pretty much his run was almost perfect, he did 2 barspins, maybe if he can tailwhip this toilet bowl he would end up with highest score ever
Maybe they expected even more this year? But I had the feeling that the course was more difficult than before. At least regarding the difficulties quite a lot of the riders had carrying just the right amunt of speed...
Semenuk crashed out in Rotura whereas Rheeder wins it, Semenuk comes 2nd at Les 2 Alpes whereas Rheeder annoyingly wins again.. and now Rheeder crashes out at Joyride whereas Semen smashes it with a vengeance! What goes around certainly comes around.
That flip can drop in on his victory lap is a statement to Rheeder... showing who's the true boss of slopestyle (it's his original trick btw)
Semenuk is a master. I was actually hoping Rheeder could win a triple crown but after Semenuks first run I knew he was going to be the man at this event. Wish he would do a little touch down dance...show some excitement after a run like that. All his fans are pumped but he looks so melancholy. At least Nicholi was pumped about his run.
I am happy because there was for the first time an Italian .. But to be honest I almost preferred the "Dual " rather than this Joy Ride Edition. Boring...
yeah he had a great run, still second place is awesome rheeder isn't riding for monster anymore ? lot of riders crashing today... bummed for van steenbergen, fronty drop is gnarly
Not sure why you got neg propped, his run was better than Semenuk's, and I'm pretty sure if Rheeder had put down that exact same run he would have got first.
Semenuk's run was SO much cleaner than the rest of the competition. His tricks were insanely huge, while still landing them as clean as possible. I really respect Rogatkin, but he definitely focuses on tricks more so than flow/style.
F**k it, let me be 100% clear.

just shows how hard these guys are pushing. stoked for Yannick to stomp a gnarly run after his crash on the last feature
He was as of yesterday and then today is name wasn't on the rider lineup.
