JUNIOR MEN - RESULTS:
1st Andrew Crimmins 3:42.706
2nd Jacob Dickson 3:45.793
3rd Laurie Greenland 3:46.068
Quick Facts:
- Andrew Crimmins dominates, finishing 3 seconds in front of everyone.
- Remy Morton goes down in the last split, an unfortunate end for the young Australian.
- Once again the gap at the top appears and is even bigger today. The rest of the pack find themselves over 3.5 seconds back from the box.
- Laurie Greenland lands a mechanical and ends his run chainless.
- Looks like Alex Marin had a spill in the last split, he was fastest at split 2 and ended up finishing way off the pace back in mid pack.
ELITE WOMEN - RESULTS:
1st Rachel Atherton
2nd Tahnee Seagrave
3rd Emmeline Ragot
Quick Facts:
- Manon Carpenter goes through the outrageous course taping right after the landing of the final jump.
- Tahnee Seagrave lays down an absolute stormer and was completely lit through the entire course.
- Miranda Miller, local to Pinkbike HQ in Squamish, finally puts her recent injury nightmares to bed with her best ever result - 8th spot. Well done Miranda!
ELITE MEN - RESULTS:
1st Aaron Gwin
2nd Connor Fearon
3rd Remy Thirion
Quick Facts:
- GWIN HAD NO CHAIN! From watching the footage it looked like he broke it out the gate too, notice that he cased the first jump and looked down.
- According to the speed trap, looks like everyone was 4-5 km/h slower through it than in practice. Turns out the wind was right in riders faces, which makes Gwin's run even more incredible.
- Connor Fearon may have gone through the tape over the rock drop, but official results confirm he has not been DQ'd.
- When Troy Brosnan beat Bruni by over 2 seconds the wind had almost completely dropped and the temperature rose. Anyone before that may have been riding in worse conditions.
- Greg Minnaar hit his helmet peak on the start gate and ended up 0.3 seconds behind Brosnan. He was pretty antagonised at the finish line.
- Steve Smith crashed on a dusty corner and blew his chances of a repeat of the 2013 victory.
- Brook MacDonald did not run his brake damper on his Session.
Claudio : "imagine how confident he must be, now he knows he doesnt need to pedal to win"
true dat
Mark 5:4
Anyhow, Im sure the whole chain or no chain guide argument now seems pretty f*cking irrelevant.
who knew?
lol.
I still have yet to hear any substantive defense of having a downhill bike that converts to the wheelbase of a dirt jump bike while going through its travel.
m.vitalmtb.com/photos/features/G-Out-Project-Fort-William-BDS-2015,8934/G-Out-Fort-William-Specialized-S-Works-Demo-8,91878/sspomer,2
Think of a creative defense or positive benefits for having a bike with a rapidly changing wheelbase and wheels that are going in the opposite direction because the the extreme difference in axle path because of the concentric BB, you would be the first one. Naw, it's easier and less humiliating to hit the neg props button.
Besides, we all know the real reason Gwin is gwinning is because of his rumored 3 day close encounters campout in the woods near Port Angeles with Tim Tebow in a 2 person Tent. The Lord works in mysterious ways.
It's called they all do it and those galleries are hilarious because of it. But I'm sure you will get out your internet protractor and try to measure the distance, even though you don't know the frame size of the bikes in question.
But good work- you are constantly living up to your basement dwelling internet armchair engineer reputation.
But no bicycle in the history of the sport does it as much as the new Demo, with the most upward and inward axle path of any rear suspension ever. And of course you couldn't think of any benefits to this axle path because there are NONE. Only liabilities that can that compromise traction and stability. So you have nothing as expected.

The third from last paragraph explains why Gwin is nuts over religion:
www.outsports.com/2012/1/12/4052376/is-tim-tebow-gay
I don't care if Tebow is gay but the author sure gets creative with it.
My evidence? He won two world cups and got 2nd in his worst performance on it this year so far. That's my factual evidence- the bike is fast, the bike wins. That, my dear boy, is called the ultimate benefit in racing.
dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/2426014/2015.PNG
Gwin can obviously go fast on this bike but that doesn't mean he wouldn't be faster on another bike or that the bike isn't unstable in some situations because of the radically changing wheelbase.
Gwin is right, the Demo probably does ride alot better without a chain given the quirky handling characteristics of this bike. Riding with no chain means you are touching the brakes less and perhaps the extreme upward and inward axle path creates more forward momentum when you are pumping your way down the track. There, I came up with a positive handling benefit of the concentric main pivot design of the Demo for all the Demo lovers out there. Gwin needs to have an auto release on his chain after the first pedal section of every track.

Waki, you look much more presentable with your tongue in:
www.shutterstock.com/similar-244099330/stock-photo-close-up-portrait-of-handicapped-boy-laying-with-hands-under-head-on-green-grass.html
But like you, one day, he will become so hip that people will give him lot of props and he will have 800+ followers etc...
You are right. I truly apologize to all those beautiful people for comparing them to Waki.
@zede. Waki is not at all like me. One of his problems is that he obviously talks too much, I don't. He is a relatively slow rider who has admitted he is too much of a pussy to own a DH bike. Not me. But I'll acknowledge he has a strange obsession with me considering I mostly ignore him. Look at how he responded to my first post and then once ignored he turns and immediately resorts to personal insults. Am amateur psychologist rreading these threads could tell you more about Waki than he knows about himself. He has admitted he has a psychological disorder but that's not the worst part, and this is the biggest difference between us and also one of the biggest tragedies to occur in Europe in the last decade or so. ..... Waki is a breeder. I have lobbied hard to keep psychologically ill people from breeding but it's a tough fight because it turns out that there isn't much you can do. Forced vasectomies? Europe is way to liberal for that. Take away the children and put them in re-education camps? The bad seed is in the DNA, can't get it out its hardwired. The best thing to do is lock the children away from the public and put them in a room by themselves to make science fiction mtb drawings like daddy.
But Demo gate doesn't end here just because Gwin completed the most amazing run in DH history that I still don't quite believe.
Meditate for 10 minutes, cleanse your body, mind, and palate. Repeat immediately. Now refresh your existence like a newborn unaborted freshly exposed baby with blood on the chin. No past grudges toward Protour, forget all controversial memories and consider the following:
Gwin won because he has Godly skils, not because he believes in God. We all know this. He is dialed in with the new Demo and can handle the radically changing wheelbase with his superior skills, especially when the chain falls off and he doesn't have to touch the brakes, avoiding the instability of the design and maximizing its momentum gaining pumping benefits and low centre of gravity.
But what about Joey the beginner who rides the Demo assuming a predictable ride, applies both brakes at the same time I'm sketchy terrain, knives the front tire, losses traction, and breaks his neck?
My legal position on this matter is that if a bike has the most radically changing wheelbase in the history of bicycles customers who purchase the bike should be warned. Please consider that no vehicle in the history of all human created vehicles has as unstable of a wheelbase as the new Demo. Doesn't mean Gwin won't continue to dominate but he is not the rider of this bicycle that I am concerned about. I am concerned about Joey.

Troy comments the best
Troy - where did that happen?
Gwin - at the start ramp !
Troy - you motherf******r!!!!
Best of all
Add to this that Rach didn't get DQ'd for leaving the course and not rejoining where she left at Windham a couple years ago.
If they're going to enforce rules, at least be consistent
With the way that they taped that final section of track, it was almost as if they were trying to get people DQ'd, I mean why would you tape the course that tight on 2 of the biggest features on the track? It didn't make for better racing, just took points away from Manon.
It looked like Connor landed very close to a pole but I'm glad he didn't get penalized for it, it was a hell of a run
SRAM's new XXGone is prime!
(preproduction in answer is not accepted)
NV used to do this in his prime.
"There's not much pedalling apart from the pedalling section"
Damn!
Anyone know what happened?
That was insanely awesome. Well worth staying up till 3am for

Should be that allowed UCI ??...
Is he going to be able to pray next round?...
Please make a stupid rule!... Too dangerous for the rest!!
Also, Manon disqualified but Rachel wasn't in Windham in 2012? They need to stop changing their rules. Make them and leave them.
But yeah, wow.
No tire -> check
No chain -> check
No brake ->
No bike ->
To be continued...

The wind "was right in (the) riders faces, which makes Gwin's run even more incredible" yet anyone riding after Troy was in better conditions as the "wind had almost completely dropped"
What will happened next year? Suspension pops out? Brakes fade away?

Anyway,all hail King Gwin!

B) Noooo Manon, Noooooo!
That was another killer race
Second best; by Claudio: "That is crazy"
#Gwinningchainless
:-))
Apparently the 'reporter' doesn't know what it means to 'case' something, as he would've had to land on a double or other obstacle to 'case' it.
Tell me this, did Manon case the arch jump at Fort Bill?
In any event, the term is used in other disciplines such as in this case, where 'casing' would mean the rider spanked the bottom-bracket area of his frame while landing short into something.
The jump in question was pretty minor as AG landed it like everyone else, and didn't even come close to smashing his frame into the ground.
In the end, it doesn't mean diddly poo however, as the dude just cemented his legacy in one run-if there had been any doubt(s) beforehand-
Against the best in the fricken world, with the wind in his fricken face, he bested EVERYONE while riding the WHOLE RUN CHAINLESS!
He's the GOAT
Anyway we can agree that we have just witnessed a run that will be remembered in this sport for years or decades to come. Beast!
