Holy shit that winning team is just soooo good! Hate how obvious it is in hindsight. That dude has a crystal ball!
  • 3 4
lol, and he’ll never be able to pick that team again as Dynamic pricing has increased every riders price, that saw a top 30 finish, if you calculate what the riders roster was valued at at round 1 to what the riders roster is valued at now, it has increased massively, yet here we all are still on a 1.5m budget

@Philthy1: That's not true the total cost of all elite male riders has fallen from $29.7 million at round 1 to $16.2 million after Les Gets. The Elite Women's field has increased by around $1 million but overall the pool of riders is worth less now than at the start of the season.

Also, 9 of the top 30 men and 6 of the 12 women in finals dropped in price.
  • 3 4
@edspratt: ok my bad, but the price does suck. Like I said not a spray, just think the increase far outweighs the decreases
  • 1 4
@edspratt: not if you look at the top 30 riders only, again not here to bust your chops, I love the banter.

Everything is obvious in hindsight but there were a lot of other good options out there. Picking Greg before the weekend seemed a bit of an interesting pick, Thibault deprella was also not a bad choice and got 0 points. Easy to say after the fact it was obvious, but before the weekend it wasn't that way IMO.

@tvan5: Yup fair... Daprela was on my team.
  • 1 0
@nateb: Yeah he was the one that hurt me the most this week.
  • 2 0
@onemanarmy: funny to mention Daprela and hurting people in the same sentence haha.
  • 2 0
 @nateb: too soon.
  • 2 0
@onemanarmy: yes, if convicted I imagine that's what they'll tell him.

Thanks for hosting fantasy this year! It adds a bit of fun to my week.

Every week my best rider gets removed. I looked on Wednesday and it still seared under 1.5m I just checked this morning and perron is gone. I took a punt pre season on riders making big come backs across the season but then you aren't rewarded. Bit of a shit system tbh.
  • 12 4
"I just checked this morning and perron is gone." Well bud, you gotta check after every round, preferably before trading closes, that's how it works. People like you who blame everything and everyone else despite the rules being clear are the absolute worst. Something is shit alright but its not their system.
  • 2 0
Pierron not really a punt though, tbh
  • 9 0
We adjusted the prices later than normal for this round, but you should have seen any removed riders when you checked on Wednesday. We have seen quite a few people suggesting a system where riders remain at the price you picked them and it is on our list of things to look into once the season is over.
  • 2 1
@edspratt: yeah I was in a fantasy league that had that type of system.
If you were willing to take a punt on injured player, rookies, old player etc etc. they remained in your team even though their prices went up or down. The same as the elite players, if you paid big bucks & their price went down etc. so essentially, your starting budget was (say) 1.5m and you purchased AP at 200k & kept him & he was the only player in your team to go up in value say to 800k & no other player lost value. You teams value was now 2.1m yeah if you want to sell him off you pocket that cash and buy another, but off you wanted him back he was 800k. I’m saying that you may of sold a player off like that purely because some other top dogs were now less & because of you punt earlier in the season you’re now able to purchase them. You get where I’m going with this? Don’t get me wrong, I’m enjoying the league, just the price vs reward isn’t really fair to those that were willing to take advantage of lower priced riders in the beginning. But enough of that. WOW what a race!!!
  • 7 1
@edspratt: like for example I purchased Pom Pom & AP in the first couple of rounds, think I got AP for like $200k & Pom Pom for $140, anyway they were cheap as, but now I can’t even afford them in my team as the 2 alone go over my budget cap, so I essentially have been levelled out & not rewarded for being willing to take a risk in the first place on them. Again not a spray, just mentioning it, like how can Greenland go up in price I know it was only $2k but he didn’t ride and went from 98k to 100k you dynamic pricing system is flawed. The entire rider roster should of also been on a salary cap, so riders value went up & down but the pool remained the same, that way when riders went up $400k other riders should of come down to keep the riders Roster budget the same

@Philthy1: Thanks for all the feedback this is really useful for when we are planning for future seasons.

When it comes to dynamic pricing, I have been making some major adjustments to the system both before and after the racing in Les Gets. The first change earlier this week was to fix the issue of riders getting stuck at the $1 million price cap, then today I made some further adjustments to ensure a wider spread of prices which fill out the middle rather than placing riders at the far ends of the range. Greenland's price increase was part of the adjustments made to the pricing formula after the racing today.

@edspratt: I honestly take my hat off to you guys for the league, i seriously do. So please take it as constructive, not a tear down

@scott-townes: I checked on Wednesday and perron was still in my list and total was under 1.5m. I checked this morning and he was gone along with dreaded red type face. Pretty sure it's the third time this happened to my picks this season
  • 1 2
 @Baseball67: Nope, didn't happen. You're lying.
  • 2 0
@Philthy1: I agree. It’s turning into a statistical exercise every race to get a new team as any success promptly gets penalised for being successful. I preferred it when prices remained static and you picked your team for the season. That way risk was rewarded and it was a tiny bit more like the real world

@edspratt: The best system would be a market based system. Where every person playing has a certain amount of money and every rider is like a company, with lots of shares. Every player gets given an equal number of shares in all the riders at the start.
Then you get paid "dividends" based on each rider's performance in the races.
It would be hard to work out the details and would require a good dedicated server, but that would be the best dynamic pricing.
  • 1 0
@edspratt: Make the increases a reward like in F1, your cost cap can increase giving an advantage for good picks, and it goes down when the riders do poorly.
  • 2 0
I think this is the most fun fantasy Pinkbike have done! Love the dynamic pricing. Going on holiday is hard though. I nearly missed the window to change my team after practice!
  • 2 0
The best team for the weekend was as above, but swap out Myriam for Eleonora and Craik for Dooley.
That would have yielded an extra 12 points.
Well done to @dtsabas for being so close to perfection on a very tough weekend.

Does anyone else have a problem with the results and points from round 5 not appearing on their account?
  • 2 0
 meeeeee

@pierceklinke: and I also cannot save new team ............
  • 2 0
 Me as well.
  • 1 0
@edspratt: any idea why points aren't showing up for round 5?
  • 1 0
 @dwwww: I still have no answer ....
  • 5 4
It was more fun the old way. Seriously. This is just like a sports betting system now. Nothing to do with simulation of a team manager.

I think the inspiration is the quant business of "Moneyball." I think the problem is that, rather than having the same amount to spend each round, my successful winning choices should ADD to the amount I have to spend at each successive round, rather than be limited to the same amount as costs go up. Also, a rider's costs wouldn't change each race, or even mid season. For a fun game though, I don't entirely mind selecting from successive "less expensive" riders each round. I just want them all to do their best and not get hurt. Speaking of, any news on Huter, or was it the last elite rider, whoever it was, that was helicoptered off the hill at the very end at Les Gets?

 (in Friday qualis, I meant)

I’m assuming it’s so the clock count goes up much more as you are forced to change your team every race
  • 4 1
limit is to low. I dont mind the moving around but the cap is to low.

We are looking into potentially increasing team budgets ahead of World Champs.
  • 3 4
@edspratt: Leave it, it makes it way more interesting and fun.

@edspratt: I think people are starting to get the hang of it. I've seen some impressive teams built. Like this weeks winner. Had I run Minnaar instead of Thibault I'd have had a pretty good week myself. But not like that person. So it's showing it is doable to build a good team.

But saying that... I think bumping it $250k-500k could make things pretty interesting.

Just like that everyone has lost Pierron

You didn't get Baptiste to replace Amaury?

 Strange week
