Steve Peat has been hosting the legendary Steel City DH race for 8 years now, and it just keeps getting better every year! With world-class riders like Josh Bryceland, Brendan Fairclough and the 50to01 crew in attendance, the crowd got more than their money's worth.
RatBoy translation: 4 minutes 53 seconds - "Mint. Always getting better every year. We've put a few improvements in. It's mad, cus like we put way more turns in, but conditions and like steep berms it's probably quicker now. But, finally a couple of air times to be had, so that's nice. And crowds seem bigger than ever so, yeah, sick weekend. It's just so chill and with a mad crowd it's even better than a World Cup I'd say. It's just relxed, but brings the people. It's nice."
You speak “Ratboy” sir. I’m impressed. My son and I always joke about wanting to see the Rat get his own “talk show” where he gets to interview guests! We laugh at the possibilities.
I’d love to come to this event one year and ride it. Looks like so much fun. Good on you Peaty and local conservation group for saving the land for wildlife and biking! All mtb riders need to be conservation minded like this. Our sport is based on having forests and natural open terrain to ride in.
Spent a while chatting with her and he husband in hospital that afternoon after she clipped the start ramp and hit her head. She wanted to go back and race
Something truly special is happening with Sheffield (and the Peak District further out) and mountain biking, and Peaty's been such a huge part of all that. And we certainly aren't just stopping with what we have - luckily, and unlike most places in the country, we have the council on board! The fact that we're spoiled rotten certainly isn't stopping us working towards building even better stuff.
It's always a fun day out. My 2yr old loved it he was heckling like a champ at the big gap jump. But he didn't like sitting near ratboy and seeing him with a dog that looked just like our dog. Poor kid though ratboy had nicked his dog ????
all ways look forward to this race such a great event its such a awsome area and the people and fans are unreal, even better to race mist out this year but will all ways try to get in cheers peaty and crew
