Yeah Bernie Kerr!!! Coming in as a reserve and taking 4th in seeding! Not bad for a 'backup' rider...
  • 14 3
Only in Britain though Big Grin
  • 15 1
Would be awesome if Kerr would win, it would be just beatiful.
  • 6 0
I see it live this afternoon..in the huge stepdown in the middle woods Bernard took time to throw an awesome whip..and still manage for fourth..awesome man BK for the win..
  • 2 0
 @vic690: Burger King??

:P
  • 1 2
 @vic690: Damn Daniel!
  • 1 2
It was by design. Gee wouldn't even have been in the top 20 and the team knew that. I doubt gee is really injured...
  • 95 1
Damn! Tracey only half a sec off Rachel.
  • 32 1
And she made up 4 seconds after the first split! Looks like she really excels at all the steep gnar.
  • 50 3
That would be the biggest upset if it happens, and I hope it does!!!
  • 47 3
 I hope Tracy beat Rachel.
  • 18 2
I'm on the fence here, I'd be stoke as hell for Tracy to win the title, but on the other side seeing a 100% perfect season would be awesome.
  • 9 0
No bigger T. Hannah fan than me, but I've seen plenty of times when Rach mashes the first half of the course in qualis or timed training, and then kinda "cruises" the rest. Then stomps the field come race day. Hope I'm wrong tho!
  • 2 0
She's got it if it stays dusty and steep! Tracy' got this one

I'm hoping Rachel smashes it. If you can't be patriotic at the world champs, then just shoot yourself.
  • 2 0
 FIGHT! FIGHT! FIGHT! FIGHT!
  • 49 6
I heard that Danny Hart is seconds ahead of everyone in practice. Time to find out if it's accurate. Fingers crossed it is. Go on Danny son!
  • 12 1
In all the clips I've seen Danny is looking so smooth, just sailing across the huge root, rocks and holes. It's gonna be an amazing race!
  • 13 4
 C'mon Danny Hart!!!!!!
  • 6 2
 O my word! Dannyboy!
  • 4 0
I can't make out the time gaps because the image is scratchy. How far up is Danny?
  • 5 1
 @jaame: 2.4s
  • 7 4
Thumbs up. It doesn't mean much though I guess. Gwin normally wins by about ten seconds at VdS.
  • 7 5
@jaame: and the frenchies are known for winning world champs, so don't count out Bruni
  • 1 1
@jaame: He did win by 7+ seconds in 2011, but the margin was pretty minor the last time he woneeds here. He also had one of the hardest yardsales I've ever seen when he was with Yeti here at VDS. Still don't know how he popped right back up and got back on it. Impressive for sure. Regardless,no one will be surprised if he wins (unless it rains), but I don't think anyone is going to win by some crazy margin.
  • 1 0
 @jackalope: back at it again!
  • 8 6
I for one don't want him to win! He's no diplomat when it comes to wining an unfair race. Plus smiling when others crash is a no no in my book.
  • 4 0
 Damn Daniel! Smile
  • 5 4
@lenmerderdenfer: I agree. Something about him I just don't like. I respect his talent on a bike but don't care for him personally.
  • 4 0
@BeerGuzlinFool: who are you talking about?
  • 2 0
@jackalope: 11.699 seconds, more than 7 seconds for sure hahahah
  • 1 0
@RedBurn: which VDS race are you referring to? This is the one I was referring to (had the year wrong) -

www.rootsandrain.com/race688/2012-jun-3-uci-world-cup-2-val-di-sole/#helitem
  • 6 2
@lenmerderdenfer: I agree, I was disappointed to see him smiling when a competitor crashed at Andorra. Minaar and Bruni had horrified expressions on their faces with a smiling Danny Hart between them. Unsportsmanlike.
  • 2 0
 @panzer103: Danny Hart...
  • 1 0
@jackalope: my mistake i was speaking about champery in 2011... But danny didnt win VDS in 2011 (aaron gwin did), go watch his mad run on youtube, he finished 2nd by taking the hot seat to Gee Atherthon with like 2.8 seconds up
  • 4 2
Minnaar knew he was on camera and is a wily old fox. Danny was nervous as all hell. He's not used to winning. Are you guys suggesting he found it amusing that someone got hurt? Really? Not just a nervous reaction to him getting closer to a win? Get real! I always laugh and cheer when someone I don't want to win slides off and I know I'm not the only one because most of my mates do it too!
  • 1 0
Yeah I don't think Danny was wanting anybody to get hurt, he was probably just nervous and excited to be closer to the win. I mean what if you got one of those fantasy contests completely right and there was one more rider to go, you'd probably be pretty relieved if he crashed (not badly though).
  • 41 2
hannah for gold !!! well hopefully
  • 1 0
She's got it. She deserves it
  • 33 4
Looks as though A. Gwin is once again not showing all his cards during practice.
  • 3 4
Neither is Danny Hart, or anyone else for that matter.
  • 26 2
Luca killing it for USA..... I mean Gwin is Gwin but it's good to see another USA rider on the come up
  • 13 1
Also Nik in juniors, second fastest! Way to go Nik!!!
  • 2 0
 @jovian0ne: stoked for Nik!!!
  • 2 0
And Neko not too far back either.
  • 22 1
Over 80 junior men and not too far off the pace of the senior men. Just 9 (nine!) junior women and well off the pace of the senior women. People have got to stop bagging on Rachel and other women and their times compared to the men and just encourage more young women to get out there, on course and give it a go.

Who cares what the split difference is between men and women. Women in downhill racing is far better than no women in downhill racing and they need to feel support regardless of pace.
  • 1 0
 45 seconds lol
  • 22 0
well sub Bernard Kerr took the challenge by the nuts !!!
  • 17 1
Bernard KERR must feel so good right now ......
  • 13 0
woah!! .. an Italian does it job well! .. forza !
  • 2 1
and a good time: 1:48..it would be a good placement even in elite group. GO ANDREAAA!
  • 9 1
Nick Beer nearly a second quicker than Danny on split 2!
Are we seeing some purposely slow times from the likes of Ratboy and Ed Master?
It's going to be a killer race!
  • 6 0
That can't be right, right? Going from 60th to first and back to 60th?
  • 5 0
That would mean his second split was like 11 seconds faster than Danny's
  • 1 0
I seen both Ratboy and Eddie riding at very chill pace during this quali..and no signs of crashes..
  • 1 0
yes, I was searching for who was quickest at 2nd split and it sure surprised me to go all the way down to Nick Beer who finished 62nd and 64th at split 1. Doesn't seem possible?
  • 10 2
Luca Shaw in the top 5? Any takers? I would love to see him finish strong after such a good year.
  • 18 9
It's timed training folks, don't get your knickers in a knot!
  • 6 2
Yes, but there isn't quali's for World Champs, so Timed Training is the only way for riders to see how they are stacking up before race day. So, riders do tend to push it more as opposed to normal timed training during the World Cup season.
  • 3 1
I'm 100% with you on that one.
Flop in 3 & Kerr in 4 is great, but that means something to me.
  • 1 1
I meant totally ok with BINARY ;-))
  • 7 0
@mtnbykr05: Well it is still training runs. And when it comes to the a normal world cup race they are trying to earn points when they qualify (which is actually what helped gwin clinch the title at the end there). Whereas this race they don't have to earn points in qualy so there's no incentive to push too hard in time training and risk a wreck for points.

It would make sense for them to push harder during a regular WC race before race day because they stand to gain from it. At world champs there's no incentive to push too hard before race day.
  • 8 0
C'on Danny stay on your bike! But Gwin, when he flicks the switch to warp factor they better watch out!
  • 4 0
Gwin really likes these conditions too. Reminds me of Windham in 2015. Though this track is way longer and packed with a lot more of the rough stuff.
  • 6 0
Do these results effect the start order, or is the start order based on their plate numbers (in descending order)?

Sry I used to know the answer...
  • 1 0
 Plate number
  • 1 0
These results are just practice. Start order is based on UCI ranking but I believe the number plates are based on last years works champs results (Loic with the #1 plate). So I think it would be Gwin running last.
  • 1 0
With the exception of juniors...where these times determine start order.
  • 2 1
 @sino428: Bruni will run last
  • 3 0
@StupidFastRebound: I'm sure its world cup ranking isn't it? As Gwin was last man down at Andorra world champs last year following taking the overall?

Think back to Hafjell world champs when ratty was last man down after taking the overall.
  • 2 0
@freerideglory: no it's based on UCI ranking which is different than would cup standings as riders can earn point at other sanctioned races besides just world cups. But the rider who wins the overall is likely to be the number one ranked rider as well (like Gwin last year and I think this year as well).
  • 1 0
@sino428: Nice one mate thanks for clearing that up! Needlessly complicate. I think a mass start would be sick and then the proceeds go to charity or something! Like Megavalanche but on a WC track !!
  • 3 0
I think Gwinn is dying for a rainbow striped jersey and is holding his cards close to his chest. Danny just laid it all out on the line because that's how he is and he is on a hotter than hot streak. Anything can happen on raceday but I'm expecting Gwinn to come out and Ride like he's is on fire and riding a stolen bike. Either way it's going to be a great race. For me this is like the SUPERBOWL. Can't freakin wait!
  • 6 2
So was Finn Isles fastest at both splits & then f*cked up the last bit of the run to finish 2nd while Nestoroff had a blinder after the last split???
Crazy...
  • 3 2
 Mind games.....
  • 5 1
Both got beat by a dude name Andrea though haha
  • 7 1
Yeah WYN !!!!! WYN FOR THE WIN
  • 7 2
Wow, 3 french riders in top 5 !! It's gonna be interesting for the finale Big Grin
  • 7 1
I would be soo stoked if Remi got podium. He seems like such a cool dude
  • 8 2
Impressive run from Florent Payer hope he will be like that tomorrow
  • 6 0
payet is crawling to the top this season
  • 7 2
Chuck Harrison is a bad dude. Seperated A/C and all.
  • 6 1
 WTF is happening with Ratboy?
  • 2 1
Probably just on a cool down, he always seems pretty chill but I wouldn't be too surprised if he's planning on having some time away or changing teams.

[If anyone knows otherwise, chime in]
  • 2 1
 Crashed maybe
  • 1 1
@SASchofield52: rumours are he's retiring after tomorrow so he's probably just going to enjoy it
  • 5 0
@sewer-rat: I still don't understand why someone in his position would just give up on riding World Cups though, unless he does freeride or something he is going to have to get a regular person job and that doesn't involve travelling all over the world and riding your bike. It seems like if you had that chance you would hold onto it for a long time, kind of like Steve Peat.
  • 1 0
@matjtom90: dunno buddy, I think he'll become more of a rider / reporter and stay on the scene
  • 2 0
@sewer-rat: He can stay on the scene just because he has good banter and is a likable character. His commentary would be funny as f*ck lol, if he were to go down that route. But it's kind of annoying knowing he has the potential to be standing on that top step, but isn't willing to put in, for example, for the same efforts Danny is.
  • 1 0
@Jack-McLovin: yeah I agree but I think with Steve retiring he's lost a mentor and someone on a similar wave length, he will be missed for sure but training like Danny isn't his style (and that's what we live about him , his style). I honestly think we haven't seen the last of him
  • 1 0
Have heard that he wont be racing next year. Not sure if that means that he's retiring, hopefully just taking a year out of world cups.
Possible team change on the cards? If this is true then whats the future of the Syndicate? Will it continue with Minnaar and some new blood? Luca Shaw maybe?
Oooh I love this time of year when the whispers of who's going where and doing what start coming out. I can foresee some interesting changes in the off season.
  • 1 2
 @Damo6-6-6:
I find this clamour for him to become a commentator distasteful. He's actually achieved nothing and if he is this quick to quit then he doesn't deserve to stay on the circuit.

Get with it ratboy or ill see you in tesco
  • 1 0
@scandal42: Achieved nothing??? Yeah right, he's written for Dirt, ridden for SPS and was crowned world champion. Somehow I don't think he'll end up at Tesco
  • 6 0
 Brook Macdonald did 50!
  • 1 0
Insane! No one came close to his speed...
  • 4 1
Pompon goes fastest. Thought she'd be up there but many more could beat her yet.
  • 1 2
Pompom sets the bar high tho ...
  • 7 1
Tracey and Rachel.. unbelievable time .. lol
  • 1 0
Why does Gwin have a #2 bib? How do they get those numbers? If its by the WC overall ranking, he should have the #1 plate, and if its by last years world champs it should be #74...
  • 2 0
Not seeding for Elite. Start list is already set: www.valdisolebikeland.com/_files/f_media/2016/09/1209.pdf
