@jesse-woodward: It has been mentioned on every single comments section since the show aired, not sure it needs to be explained again. Failing that Google is a magnificent thing, try "Bernard Kerr debt"
The guy paid his debt at the time of filming which looked to have been down to a misunderstanding in the first place. I can see how it is a bit funny and he got a ribbing, however, I hope all this ongoing attention doesn't negatively impact on his sponser deals, reputation etc. That would be unfair.
@charles0210: probably not, loads of people, let alone racers live their lives on tick, just so that they can do what they want, at least Bernard was chasing a dream, not doing it driving a white shitty plastic electric Mercedes like most people pump their banks money into! Lol :-)
@charles0210: plus, my bro worked for a van rental place for years and they are all a*sholes. They probably game him shyte service and were terrible to deal with, so the likelihood is the rental place deserved it!
Note to Bernard:
Good work lad, you could win this with your jumping skilllllz! Good luck chap. To celebrate you should hire a van, drive to Scotland and back whilst resting your foot on the clutch... then hand it back!
@whitebullit: the original drawing had it, but then I thought that it would be rather unfair since they cannot be the only ones to blame (my troll nose tells me it's a mix of UCI, Redbull and venue holders). Then I cannot stress it enough how I wish people who are into quick conclusions and witch hunts to go and fk themselves.
@WAKIdesigns: i think in this case the venue is the most responsible, red bull gets alot of flak for their media coverage but i cant blame them for trying to make it appealing to the masses, i just dont see how paved tracks fit into that. some of the most viewed runs are in the gnarliest conditions, sam hill and danny hart are prime examples of that.
@whitebullit: I´m pretty sure the way Leogangs track has evolved is 100% down to the venue. They show year and year again their trailbuilders have no clue of what they´re doing. Not only with the WC track, but dumbing trails down everywhere, building jumps that lead to nowhere and putting a northshore drop between two trees where my bars aren´t even able to fit in between... The constant intersections between dh-track and freeride are another thing nobody could understand why someone would plan it that way. It´s accidents waiting to happen. I mean not to offend the guys who probably put a lot of heart into it for not enough pay being out there each day shoveling on the tracks, but since they claim to be europes No. 1 bikepark they should finally hire someone like Claudio or Gravity Logic to build them some proper tracks.
@WAKIdesigns: my theory is that the track ironing out is for better camera coverage, and in turn more profit return on there investment in the sport. Time will tell I guess, but there is no interest in a DH cross race so hopefully someone sees the issue before its to late.
@shaowin: Nah, that most likely isn´t the case. The problem honestly is rooted in the tracks basic layout and how they probably aren´t able to change it in any significant way. That´s down to the local land owners not cooperating and environmental regulations not allowing for any new tracks. I know they are struggling hugely with that and it´s a general problem in Austria. So they have to work with what little they have (which isn´t all that much due to the long traverses and flat sections that are needed to get back down to the gondola. What they need to make the track better is somebody with a creative vision on how to improve it with manmade sections that do not feel like your usual artificial obstacle. Why they took out the few rock sections and such i can only speculate the reason to be rider feedback (they were complete shit because the rocks were angled so they had to cause snakebites and rim damage when hit with enough speed). I also suspect the top rock section was only put there in the first place as a countermeasure to riders hitting the intersection between dh-track and freeride track with too much speed which would have led to even more accidents than is allready the case. So basically, everything they do in that park is a lame compromise due to a lot of contributing factors, but when you add in a lack of creativity, planning and knowledge, you get what we have as a track today.
He just uploaded his hardtail run onto Youtube. For anyone interested he ran roughly a 4.05... So faster than every elite femate, and nearly top 50 mens...
Could be because there are no difficult line options to pick from. There are maybe 3 more or less tricky sections on the whole track, which still seem very one lined to me. Maybe the root section will offer more options than one.
The track is quite mellow and smooth, but that can make for a very interesting race, for the riders will have to take lots of risks and bold lines to win. No conservative run will win the day.
Times training was very accurate for last round against final, go have a look for riders from South Australia. Doesn't mean shit is BS, you can calibrate heaps from it.
These windows where the times are displayed on this page, the rider names are printed double with a slight offset, as if I'm crosseyed. Doesn't go for the times or team names, only for the rider names. Anyone experiences the same? Is this still scribd or are they using something else nowadays?
Be sure to allow scribd's scripts for your browser. I had the exact same problem because i got a script blocker installed, so i whitelisted those and it works as it should now.
@Judla: Thanks, yeah I'm using NoScript indeed. I just allowed scribd.com and scribdassets.com and it looks beautiful. The window now also says it is is a scribd window. Cheers!
Well now. Looks like the top guys wanted to put in a legit test to see how they were running. First time I've seen in a long time where all the top dogs put in a firm punch of the clock for timed training.
I'm guessing that since they all know times are going to be tight, they're needing a benchmark for practice to find momentum.
look at those times... I think all people who say tight times make for better racing should think again... come sunday everybody's gonna have exactly the same time
I agree, looks he did a rib... and broke ribs puncture lungs, there is a ton of light weight quality armour out there. Look at any DH Uk uplift day... there are loads of us wearing some of that stuff. Coz we have to go to work in the morning.. and these guys have to race to earn.. same shit. IIRC the french stipulate some sort of back armour... and if you closely look a load of pros use them up to the actual race run... it's not cool to ride without some sort of upper body protection... IMO...

Clearly he's just pushing for the Dream. 0% chance Kerr is the only pro in this situation
