haha true.. im selling my top of the line bike for 2200 and i scroll down to see a 2011 middle range bike for 3000... well the logic is big in this one ...

Pink bike! Add some sort of rating feature! I'm always hesitant to use the buy sell bc i don't want to get ripped off by someone who ships me crap parts. Knowing they have sold or have happy customers from the past would help set my mind at ease a little

2 good young kidneys for sale make an offer the worst I can say is yes
  • 2 0
and they say the new specialized is expensive.
  • 3 0
@bryanbobo there is a seller history including sold items section. Top of any ad there are four hyperlinks: user name, send message, seller history, and "add to my watch list"
  • 74 3
Great site for buying and selling. But still Think you guys should add a feed back system abit like ebay. As there's always dodgy buggers tryin to con you.
  • 13 1
 TOTALY!!
  • 12 0
Yep. I bought a cracked frame and the seller refused to admit to it. PinkBike could use a feedback system to keep people honest. I was left very disappointed, obviously due to the $$ lost but also because the kid seemed like a genuine/honest individual throughout our communication leading up to the purchase. Theres a good chance I wont be buying off PinkBike for quite some time now (maybe never again) unless it's local and in-person. Expensive lesson to learn.
  • 4 0
Defo can be a pain as Ive also lost out on here with stuff never ariving and A few bits not as described. But also had a lot of good gear off here. One thing is always go though paypal bussiness. But could do with a sellers rating. Would help others feel abit more safe and happy to buy more goods.
  • 4 0
So far everything I've bought has been better than described. I bought my last demo 8 off PB and it lasted me 3 years with no problems, and it was very lightly used when I got it. Just ask for pictures, they rarely lie Smile
  • 5 4
On the other side of the deal, I only ever sell local. I want the buyer to walk into my shed, see how good the bike is, see my new bike (the only reason I'm getting rid of the old one), see that I have all the tools to maintain it, and I tell them that if they have any problems to come back to me. My prices are very fair and I always get exactly what I ask for - first viewer always takes it. My last two bikes were sold without even having to advertise - I had previous buyers chasing me!
  • 23 0
"I want the buyer to walk into my shed..."
  • 3 1
What's wrong with that? I stand behind everything I sell. And when I sell parts I tell them to bring their bike and I'll install it.
  • 7 0
Because there are crooks out there who will come scope out a bike only to return one night and take it for free. Which is why more paranoid sellers don't transact at their homes.
  • 1 3
@NYShred you always run that risk when buying a used bike. My brother bought a dirtbag a while ago and a few rides later the welds that hold the shock to the frame started separating from the seat tube. Not much he could de except buy a new frame. That being said i totally agree that there should be feedback section, but at the same time. My friends would make a million troll accounts to give a bad report to me, so you would have add some sort of filter so only the buyer could report
  • 2 0
Sure, every used purchase runs the risk of some normal wear and tear, its expected - BUT - my very first question to the seller was "is the frame cracked anywhere or have any massive dents?" his response was "nope, the frame is solid"... Then when I got the bike the first thing I see is the headtube had a 1 inch crack in it clear as day and the swingarm had a huge dent. WTF is that!? The buyer isnt protected in any way at all once the seller has their money. The seller could very easily just not send the product. Then what? Who helps me get my $ back? Nobody.

Lying is a disgusting character trait that is learned. This kids parents must be lying/stealing/cheaters and now so is he.
  • 3 0
If you use paypal the buyer can absolutely be protected. I won't buy/sell any other way but paypal.
  • 1 0
Very I lernt the hard way and did it as friends not goods. Never again. But a friend of mine got cond even though bussiness. (Not on here). He brought some items of a guy and he basically did a recorded delivery with only a few bits inside the box. The problem then was to prove there was bits missing, he did loose out. Shame really as there's always someone out there to screw you over.
  • 1 0
I bought a dirtbag off here also at the beginning of summer and I love it, no problems at all. (Did buy it local though, and took it to a shop before I bought it) I have to say I love this site!!!
  • 1 0
@Sandmanbren1 I love this site too, I got a 2011 tr 450 for only 1500 bucks, but like any site you have to look through all the other ads to find the gems
  • 61 4
Now MOST people just need to realize that their used stuff is overpriced.
  • 8 7
People don't realize used stuff is used even if you rode on it a few times still used and i'm not gonna pay the full price i'll pay 75% or 50% off the price they bought brand new.
  • 11 4
Compared to the new stuff it's usually quite good value.
  • 36 3
buyers often are lowballing the asked price like crazy. Because it's used doesn't mean you get it for free. It's not called the hand-me-down section.
  • 8 1
The most obvious aspect of all the trading is that people sell bikes because they went out of fashion, not because they are not working well anymore. In my mind the average age of a rider is 20 and it is not the age in which people know a lot about money earning, spending and trading. This way, if producers show commercials, videos etc., they are building a world of fashion around new features of old bikes (like new graphics), that make the very old bikes unfashionable. It all leads to the fundamentals of capitalism in which riders / consumers are to spend more and more money. I am sure every rider presenting their offers of an overpriced used bike is aiming at regaining as much money spent as possible to have something that is just new, not necessarily better. On the other hand, if it all was not so, we would not have any progress in bike technology. Whenever I face a shopping effort I keep considering the fashion / improvement ratio of the price I am to tolerate of a brand new item. Now you can all neg me to the dark bottom.
  • 1 0
 Agreed
  • 3 0
 Mountain bikes depreciate like mad.
  • 1 3
 comment was deleted? but why?
  • 1 0
The year old frames in basically brand new condition typically are fairly priced.
However, I search a lot for old frames and nobody wants your 12 year old frame that has a destroyed shock, barely any paint left on it, with scratches and dings covering every inch for $500.00. I see stuff like that sooooo often.
  • 2 2
I don't buy stuff usually used because it's usually overpriced and people selling it for the price you can buy it brand new online.
  • 3 1
In the off season 80% of people don't get close to their starting price. I thought my Wilson carbon was worth 4400$ in August and in desperation I kept dropping the price and got 3300$ for it. That's like 2800$ USD. People from the states should buy from Canada and not the other way around.
  • 2 0
MTB depreciate at different rates in different country's. Used parts are way cheaper in Canada than other places. I just hate it when it says no international shipping.
  • 3 0
it just seems like everything is overpriced because that's the stuff that stays up forever and doesn't sell.
  • 2 0
Now most buyers need to realize its not a game of how much you can screw another rider out of more money as well.... I understand completely unreasonable prices but even at reasonable prices you get ridiculous offers just to see if you bite.
  • 2 0
It's just the usual saying, once a car drives off the lot it looses a quarter of its value. What makes you say it isn't the same with a bike,
  • 2 3
Not if its a Daewoo, Hyundai or Kia thats shit loses half. They are like the department store bikes of the car world.
  • 1 0
You haven't been in New Hyundai or Kia then. Shits changed big time
  • 2 0
I bought my Turner DHR from a seller in Quebec, lightly used(6 months old at the time). It had the build kit that Turner was selling for 7500, I paid 3300 USD after shipping and customs. Still ride it, with extensive build changes. Arrived as described, if not better. Couldn't be happier. It's pretty easy to determine if a seller is legit. Look at his join date, see if he's active on the forums, make sure the seller communicates reliably. There are tons of deals on here. Just use common sense and don't be afraid to buy from outside your country if that's what it takes.

I just wanted to add some facts to the car thread of Daewoo, Hyundai and Kia. Daewoo was offering car in Poland ten years ago and it got so negative opinions that the new models are badged with a Chevrolet now. Some commercials show Corvettes in the beginning. From all of I know the name Daewoo is now offered in the States, Australia and other places. They are identical, but different emblems. Kia offers 7 years warranty in Poland, and I am not sure now, but all the engines come from VW previous models. Kia diesel is signed with CRD, the same you read on a Cherokee 2.7 diesel, and some Mercs, so it is more likely Merc engines. You know Toyota. The most reliable model: Yaris. Japanese quality! All assembled in Poland and shipped worldwide. All of them. What you pay for is a badge. The rest of faith I have got stays in hand made very expensive cars like Aston Martin, but although there are hand made it does not mean that there are no other companies parts mounted there with hands. Pagani uses Merc engines, which can run on Korean injectors. So all we are to believe is a commercial with a badge basing on history that is no longer truth. If you buy a Santa Cruz complete bike it is all clear that there are shimano, or sram parts there. What if Santa badged all of them and put it there. Giants does it, as well as Specialised. Of course it is done on purpose to change the perceived quality. This is how cars are built. Still there is no clue what carbon fibre or glue is used to built an expensive frame and which type for the less expensive e.g. Chinese parts. Or do we believe there is only one type of carbon fibre and it is always superb quality?
  • 1 0
I'm not saying Hyundai, Kia or Daewoo aren't better now airmiller44 than they were, but they still depreciate more than other cars. I think ALL FWD cars are shit. I have owned a few, had fwd sporty cars like the Ford Probe, totalled an Integra GSR. The best handling car I have ever been in was a Civic with coilovers momos and sticky korean rubber. Seen the first FWD car break the 8 second barrier at the drags and I still think they ALL suck. I used to lift throttle four wheel drift my Probe and have driven a turbo Prelude with drag radials on the front and no names on the back that was tail happy as all getout. I still hate TORQUe steer and lack of traction at launch and not being able to power drift. East west engines will allways be gay. When Koreans finally make a turbo allwheel drive car it will still sound like shit and be unreliable as allways. Walmart bikes are getting better too but they are still walmart bikes. Daewoo may make 6 cylinder engines for Holden but they won't make HSV's. It's like the difference between XTR, XT and LX. You buy the former because it is made in Japan like LX used to be. You want a Japanese Subaru you buy an STI or WRX not an Outback.
  • 2 0
My favorite sporty car was the 1993 Toyota Mr2 Turbo, brings back good memories 255hp mid engine rear wheel drive and light equals fun!
  • 1 0
I just wanted to say the market is about makes and all the connotations attached to them. This is all a theatre, because we don't buy a Kia, a Merc, or a Toyota anymore. It is just a car that is made everywhere and all the associations with makes and qualities belong to history. This can be the same story with bikes. i don't like the idea of Giant selling a hub and a stem with a Giant badge to make it look as if it was of better quality. This is the most common case in car industry, just because cars are more expensive to produce etc and the market is larger. Giant and Specialised do this kind of cheating, because they are big companies. Smaller bike producers don't try it yet, but customers (we) should be aware of it.

FWD cars are generally better in snow and winter conditions. I mean better for all the majority of drivers who don't actually know what a power slide and understeer are. FWD cars are also much cheaper to produce. This is why they will be still offered.

Walk into a Hyundai dealership. Find a new i35. Open the driver's door. Feel the weight of the door and listen to the noise it makes when you slam it shut. Walk into a VW dealership. Find a new Golf. Open the driver's door. Feel the weight of the door and listen to the noise it makes when you slam it shut. I really don't care where they are made, but do this experiment and then wonder why one depreciates more than the other the minute it drives out of the dealership.
  • 2 0
Agreed, but take brochure from both dealerships and compare prices. Then compare what do you in fact loose after 3 years of using both. I am not saying that i35 is any good car. I don't like VW as well. I am just saying that no more quality comes just because there is a badge with history of producing reliable products. When it comes to quality which you are discribing, it is just the extra money, you have to spend (and it is calculated precisely), but it is even not always this way. Things get tricky and spending money wisely is equally difficult as earing them. As for cars I prefer old Japanese cars like a Nissan that was produced and assembled in Japan and before the year 2000. This was the year when Nissan experience some low moments and the Spanish boss of Reanault came to help fussing the two makes. I am talking about quite old cars now, but nicely restored and tuned they become close to perfect in my opinion. I don't like selling and buying cars at all. I wouldn't mind having a good one for all of my life, but here again I am very individual.

 Good work PinkBike.
  • 17 0
 Way better than ebay!
  • 4 0
for bikes, ALL DAY Pinkbike is better!
  • 1 0
though I would like to see (ebay has this) a free-text box next to each item I add to my list. that is, a box only I can see where I can record tidbits about that particular item. like most of us I read reviews, etc. about an item before making an offer, and it's hard to remember everything when you have a long list of options; and keeping notes elsewhere is a pain in the ass
  • 15 0
Be aware of pain in the ass youngsters wanting stuff for pennies and have no tact.
  • 9 0
Or "wats the stroke length on that 8.5x2.5 shok?" haha
  • 3 0
Or the f'ers text you at 12am asking if a float 180 will fit on their hardtail.

"My mum got me a sik huffy from Walmart it's solid Dh bike but I was wuderin if ur Dh forks will fit cause du shocks isn't to good and I want more shocks cauze it's cool will u install for free to.

I'll give you 10$ cause that's what I made from walking my neighbors dog. I spent the money my mom gave me on gum sorry
  • 11 0
now if buyers can start reading the ads properly, stop lowballin' and offering playstation and xbox for trades, then we might be in pointing in the right direction.
  • 10 0
Make posting ads mobile friendly. My pc is a POS and I don't list stuff half the time because I'd rather drink beer than deal with it.
  • 10 0
Nice, now you just need to work on the video search.
  • 5 0
Yes!!!! Totally need to touch up the search results. I search for Prince George BC videos, hit 'newest' and get clips from the other side of the world!!! When you include many words it doesn't narrow the results but widens them; I get videos showing in the results because they have a rider named George in them, or music with Prince.... Argggg. Pinkbike PLEASE fix the video search. tup
  • 9 0
One nice addition would be to have notifications if something matching your saved search is added.
  • 8 0
Bought my last three bikes though Pinkbike. Gently used is the way to go. More bike for the bang.
  • 8 0
BREAKING NEWS: Latest study finds our site is pretty kickass
  • 3 0
It'd be nice to filter forks more than wheel size and single or double. Like taper or non tapered is really important. And the qr or thru axle and thru axle size. I have a head set, I have a wheel set. I want to screen out forks that won't fit.
  • 6 0
Compare this to mtbr. I can't imagine buying anything there. This system has served me well and it only gets better.
  • 3 0
MTBR classifieds are dead and a joke by comparison
  • 3 0
Can you add a filter for manufacture (if you search for a certain bike, you get so many others, often people saying in the description that they want something else)

and also filters for willing to post / collection only.

thanks
  • 7 1
Can I make it permanently filter out all of the 27.5 and 29er ads? Forever like? :-P
  • 5 0
Love the changes. How about adding hardtail vs full suspension for a search criteria?? Thanks!
  • 5 0
Yes! Also if I search in (Chain rings, Bash guards, Chain guides etc.), I should be able then narrow my search to chain rings. This would save a whole bunch of wading through crap.
  • 7 0
and it would be great if rockshox would give me the same results as rock shox
  • 6 1
Would be nice to have section for fatbikes only, otherwise keep up the good work. Much appreciated.
  • 2 0
This. number of categories hasn't changed in forever, sport has evolved. fer god's sake, at least split XC from AM.
  • 7 0
 Pinkbike my dawg
  • 3 0
Yo stop posting your ads here... isn't that the whole point of a buy/sell section, that just got awesome updates?! If I want to buy your type of bike I'll search for it and throw you an offer
  • 2 0
Would really like to be able to sort shocks by stroke/eye to eye. at least it looks like the search can take dots finally, not being able to competently search for something line "2.5" was a nightmare for looking for the right size shock.
  • 1 0
A lot easier to use and find what your after now, although one thing that annoy's me is the fact people don't list items properly, if some people took the time or made the effort to list the full specs of an item which they are selling, such as sizes, lengths, details, etc. It can be a bit of a nightmare having to ask how long cranks are, what size bb, what size frames are, steerer tube lengths, etc.
  • 1 0
Google really needs to make a free form search area. That radius search is a great feature but pretty much useless in coastal towns. I live at about the half way point on Vancouver Island. I'd be more than willing to drive down to Victoria to pick up bike parts but if I set a radius large enough to include Victoria I get more than half my hits coming from Vancouver. With a $140 round trip for driving on the ferry to go to Van those ads are basically a waste of time to look at...
  • 1 0
Thanks PB looks good. I enjoy the new save a search feature, however would it be possible to get a return search option. As you are viewing a page the only way to get back to the search is to back out or re-search. I'm sorry if this sounds confusing.
  • 3 0
 I use the Pinkbike buy-sell a lot.

Some advice: If you're going to take the trouble to place an ad, answer your friggin' messages when a buyer contacts you.
  • 5 0
 No Fat Bike section????
  • 2 0
Ebay and gumtree can eat pinkbikes shorts, these updates are the boss keep up the good work Mr pinkbike, and keep the buysell section free please.
  • 1 0
Seems that eBay doesn't exist in canada and it s early impossible to get some stuff online if it doesn't come from us...
  • 1 0
 They have Gumtrees in Britain?
  • 1 0
 Asap needs attention.
In the drivetrain catogory there needs to be a groupset option for a lot of sellers are buying new bikes and selling the new groupsets and there isn't a catogory for this. Why not?
  • 3 0
Mobile version still looks the same
  • 3 0
Awesome place to buy and sell. From biker to biker. Thanks for it.
  • 1 0
anyone know what i need to do with my price? i chose it to say 2200 EUROS but it is listed in CAD even when i select the EURO option.. what do i do?
  • 4 1
Write "Please read the price in EURO instead of CAD" in the first, or last sentence of the bike description.
  • 1 0
haha i did that , thanks anyway
  • 2 1
sell me your 26" bike ...i will buy for peanuts and sell it for millions in 75 years....when the bike industry goes from wheels to jetboosters
  • 1 0
I've bought and sold things on here and it's all smooth but would love it if I could upload pictures off my mobile! I would sell loaďs more things on here instead of EBay.
  • 1 0
Email your picture to post@pinkbike.com and it'll automatically upload it to your pb mobile album, but you have to link your email to your account in the settings first.
  • 1 0
Or you can click on "view full website" at the bottom of the screen, and then choose the simple uploader. We use it exclusively (ain't nobody got time for transferring pics from one device to another) and it's worked fantastically.
  • 2 1
I hated that when I searched for things it would always show stuff in canada. I'm sure canadians found it annoying to sift through US stuff too. Hopefully that's fixed.
  • 1 0
If your worried about seller reviews etc. Just use PayPal and you should have some kind of purchase/fraud protection.
  • 1 0
what about international search? please! for those who seeks and does not care about dutties, taxes, shipping
  • 1 3
Compared to the IBC buy&dell... You get here nothing and the people wanna give you 10$ for you new Pedals. Its kind of crazy what the people here ask you. If you searching for suspension stuff.... Its like an market in a little town... Nothing there.
  • 1 0
Good work!! Sick, and well needed, update: @brule give the team a high five for me!!
  • 2 2
Just put up an add, shows CAD currency although I double checked I clicked EUR. (www.pinkbike.com/buysell/1663824)

Should really think about adding a seller/buyer feedback section.
  • 1 0
Can you post to classifieds from the mobile site?
  • 1 0
too bad its not compatible with old software.
  • 1 0
This is the best time of year to buy, and the worst time to sell! Lol
