The track in New Zealand for the EWS is slick, rooty and full of off camber sections. The part of the track is a perfect example. I don't think the dude that crashed at the beginning knew where he was for a few minutes after hitting his head. We're glad he's alright though. Were Oton and Clementz fast enough?
For the good of calling out shitty comments...That bar was definitely damaged by an overtightened brake lever. Coming from a guy who fixes BMXs for a living and is well used to telling people "that didnt fail cos its shit, it failed because you put a three foot long extension bar on your allen key, then stood on it...."
I love these moments..don't get me wrong, I respect every single person(man or woman) who rode this part of this course. But here it doesnt matter what head angle your bike has, waht Frame material it has, what whell size and mostly Boost or no boost..ist about skill and having the balls.
What are you talking about? I am certain if those guys had the 0.4% wheel stifness and half a gram weight reduction that boost has none of those crashes would have happened
Takes balls to commit when you have no skill, it also takes balls to be an idiot and it also takes balls to recover in hospital for ages because you committed without the skill.
Pretty sure plenty of the riders crashing in this video aren't coming from XC backgrounds, like Bryan Regnier. Or is hating on XC back in style these days?
well i didn't mean just crashing... i meant some taking more 'hoppy' skip around kind of lines...versus the dudes straight plowing through and holding on.
strange.... I didn't see anyone wearing spandex. THEY'RE LEARNING TO CAMOUFLAGE THEMSELVES!!! That is a nasty section. It looks like staying high is the way to rippa.
I wear both simultaneously. My skinny jeans were $200 so I bought spandex shorts for $100 to go over the skinny jeans in order to protect them. And I go shirtless, gloveless, and pad-less of course, like a real man. And I never crash.
Have you ever tried any kind of pants with spandex in them? It definitely gives you a lot more freedom to move and you don't have to worry about baggy clothes getting in the way. Don't knock it till you try it.
So am I. Logically, a bra and panties would give you far more freedom of movement than any of your sisters jeans, and even less chance of getting sucked into your chainring. Don't get so upset.
If someone hits their head that hard and can't figure out where they are, they have a concussion. They are not alright and probably should keep off the bike till it clears up. I wish people would take head injuries as seriously as broken bones, because they are even more dangerous long term. That was a pretty slick section though and amazing how fast Clementz and Oton cleared it.
The chappy on the SC Bronson (?) at the 1.00 mark gets his foot back on the pedal in the absolute blink of an eye, must be some ninja blood in his ancestors somewhere... Fair play the skills of that man.
I broke my carbon bars in exactly the same way (hard lateral smack-down fall) and in the same place (actually between shifter and brake), and believe me, they did not break due to over-tightening (use torque wrench and under-tighten by a newton or two). There is something in that particular type of fall that carbon bars just don't like. I won't name the brand I was using, as they did give me a free crash replacement
I honestly feel like it's just the fact that the shifter or break clamp creates a rigid pivot point, so in turn the bars snap there because that is one spot with little to no flexibility. Thus causing a broken handle bar in the case of a fall.
Damn, here I am at my keyboard and I just don't know what type of riding I'm supposed to hate on.... Should it be Enduro or XC? Someone please teach me to Pinkbike. What ever happened to getting on a bike and just riding?
Hate on any bike that isn't your own bike or your dream bike... Unless your dream bike has 29" wheels, in which case you should go home... Cause you're drunk
for slippery roots and technical terrain like this, choosing a line is crucial, nice footage the pros experienced crashes like this. This trail looks like in Canada Alberta I rode.
Holy sh*t, pause @0.12 , he broke his handlebar oO He crashs a bit hard, but not at full speed, i 've seen worts !! My money it was overthighten, look where it broke ...
"If a carbon bike snaps in the woods
An no one's around to hear it
Do you even enduro?"
So, w/o searching/checking on Google, who are riders with xc background...?
That, or skillz =)
Actually a couple didn't have packs.
