Who ever coached that lady off that drop at 1:03, sell your bike and never ride again. She never had enough speed to barely make it up the ramp, let alone hit that drop.
  • + 37
I was not able to get even a shred of enjoyment out of that crash. Just pure avoidable pain
  • + 5
For real. Maybe if she wasn't in her granny gear she would have been fine.
  • + 56
That's what we call in the biz a divorce 'case'!
  • + 17
@coyotecycleworks: come on honey, let's go mountain biking. It will be fun he said
  • + 26
Exactly. If she can't even coast with her pedals level, standing up, she's not even close to ready for that drop. Way to make her hate mountain biking forever.
  • + 68
@hardtailparty: Can we be sure that was not his ultimate goal?
  • + 27
 @allthegoodusrnamesaretaken: I appreciate your perspective.
  • + 6
If she takes a fall like that and is done with mountain biking..than mountain biking was never gunna be her thing anyways.
  • + 3
Divorce is in the air .....Big Grin
  • + 22
@radrider: once people are hooked, they can push falls like this. But if she's not hooked yet, chances are good she's never going to get back on a MTB. A lot of women (and men too) are throw into the deep end too fast by their riding partners, and the fear is too difficult to overcome. It's too bad really, as we'd see more people on bikes if their friends that introduced them had a little common sense and remembered what it was like to be brand new on a bike.
  • + 2
@hardtailparty: I agree 100 percent, I have found it hard to figure out where to take new riders. In my head a trail may be easy but all it takes is one or two technical spots to send a newbie over the bars. I now realize stream crossing on easy trails should be avoided or walked by beginners. It can be tough to remember what it was like when you started out.

I’m think well this trail has not climbing or descending must be a good trail for this newbie o damn she just went over the bars on a log over haha
  • + 47
Ten years ago my GF scorpioned over a water bar on a beginner trail, got road rash on her face and split her hand open on a rock. Right after she crashed she looked into my eyes and apologized for crashing. I told her I loved her (for the first time) when she was getting stitched up in the ER.
  • + 7
@Marcencinitas: I'm not sure why you were downvoted, but I can appreciate a good love story. Mine was similar.
  • + 7
 @Marcencinitas: that’s awesome

But on the plus side, he can craigs list that two-tray hitch rack now.
  • + 3
I thought it was a dude??
  • + 3
@themountain: that's the only thing that was in the air...
  • + 2
@fries: pretty similar ... 'I said hello she said goodbye' *cue the music*
  • + 1
@Marcencinitas: scorpion from karma sutra? That is bold.
  • + 34
@2:36 He may not be having girl problems, but that tree is definitely one of his 99 other problems
  • + 4
 Damn, beat me to it.
  • + 95
 I got 99 problems but a Birch ain't one.
  • + 9
@dkidd: if ya got tree problems I feel bad for ya son

 99 problems but a Birch ain't one
  • + 1
 @dkidd: hey azonic THIS
  • + 19
Next time you find yourself approaching an intimidating feature, with your boyfriend urging "pedal pedal pedal," and having just fatalistically cried out "son of a bitch," you would do well to reconsider.
  • + 4
@Phillyenduro That was no random "son of a bitch" that was short for "You put me up to this you son of a bitch." That dude aint gettin any for a VERY VERY long time.
  • + 20
"I have no clue how to ride" ... I know lets jump off the house ...... duh
  • + 39
 Definitely shot in Florida.
  • + 5
Seems like the type of kid who tries to make a parachute out of blankets.
  • + 14
Worried about e-bikers getting out of their depth? Regular mountain bikers already have that space covered.
  • + 14
Man some of these are just brutal!!
  • + 6
Ya, especially when they don’t properly lift on drops / jumps and hit top of head, looks horrible
  • + 6
2:15 has my vote for worst. Just nasty!

The fact humans find violence so Insanely amazing..
  • + 1
@ibishreddin: we been killin each other for a long time sadly
  • + 1
so many OTB's and yeah brutal ones
  • + 2
@czardave: Is that guy alive? Unreal.
  • + 3
A very stiff competition this time.
  • + 3
@matixsnow: some say he's still writhing in pain to this day.
  • + 1
This episode got some serious hits for sure. It really hurt watching Most of the time...
  • + 11
I was caught off guard by what seems to be the genuine surprise of the videographer for Roof Drop Guy. I'd like to see the pizza box this plan was drawn up on.
  • + 8
At 1:00 - his girlfriend is never going with him again! Peddle, peddle, peddle - in a granny gear! He should have known right from the get go.
  • + 8
Also "stand up" might be some good advice.
  • + 3
@big-red: when I saw her trying to get some speed and sitting in the saddle, I understood it was already over for her, and maybe for their relationship Smile
  • + 8
Oooooh next week is going to be sooo good. They've been saving the best for #69
  • + 7
If we thought casing a jump with your bike is bad, casing a jump with your back or stomach s probably worse
  • + 7
Send it too short, retry, but a lot faster Eek
  • + 7
Thank goodness the rider @00:31 caught his fall with his face!
  • + 6
2:17 needs a "spinal injury and possible lifelong handicap" disclaimer
  • + 3
 Yep. He dead.
  • + 6
I pray for that guy at 2:17....
  • + 6
Off a house?? Someone didn't do the math....
  • + 3
 Blame it on NWD.
  • + 7
 Definitely did the meth though...
  • + 1
hmmmm....do I calculate slope or arc....momentum or inertia? Pfftt math....sending!
  • + 5
I will not be watching Friday fails on whistler opening weekend!
  • + 1
 A few random comments:

* I'm glad the camera quality & filming was so terrible for the guy attempting the front flip; the crash looked like he snapped himself in half

* Somebody buy teeter-totter guy a basic physics textbook

* Endur-bro hit that tree so hard he spun his googles around his helmet (I assume)

* When your bike is almost falling over due to lack of speed, no quantity of "go go go"s is going to help you clear even the smallest of jumps

* Overall I enjoyed the quality of editing that paired legit attempts/crashes with clips of people who should not be allowed to own bicycles. That sort of duality in film-making will be rewarded come Oscar season.
  • + 0
I said it before, but I'm convinced this is the norm for about 84% of pinkbike commenters

No science to prove it. EXCEPT, the "weird" way that bike reviews get 200+ comments and vids showing actual riding footage get maybe 20 comments. Hard to relate to anything other than bikes resting next to a tree...

But, hey, at least most of the bikes in Friday fails were carbon.
  • + 4
3:00 is textbook dead sailor for those wondering.
  • + 3
It looks like PB should run a series on how to properly secure a helmet to your head.
  • + 1
Send so strange so go through the effort of putting a helmet on and not have it fit properly so it can do it's job.
  • + 3
 threading the needle @ :20
  • + 2
I think my favorite this week was ~2:10.

Lands, and immediately blames the wind for his crash.

Sounds just like me Big Grin .
  • + 1
 *hits a tree*
Me: 'sh*t the sun glanced off the bark the wrong way ... but I totally had it
Everyone else: mmhm ya sure
  • + 1
0:14 claims a number of riders every year; many are not nearly as lucky with threading between those aspens...ask my collarbone how I know
  • + 1
Maybe one of the best ever. Pallet jump was my favorite, snow drop for 2nd, high backflip for 3rd. Good timing with the Jay Z song.
  • + 1
90% of these fails would not happen if the riders did not corner, jump, go near water or ride on rough ground. 10% would crash riding straight down a flat foot path.
  • + 1
Some of these people would hurt themselves just by watching Friday Fails
  • + 3
I suddenly feel very inspired to buy a full face helmet.
  • + 5
 Do it!

These types of videos/crashes... are exactly why I pretty much only ride with a full face helmet. The fact that you can get full face helmets that actually breathe, makes it less of an issue than it was before.

And even though they can be kind of pricey... a full face helmet is still cheaper than whatever dentistry/surgery would need to happen if I took a blow to the chin/teeth area.

I crashed a few years ago, and after I hit the ground some part of my bike hit me in the eye. The lens kept me from rupturing my eyeball and likely losing my sight, but the impact was enough to blow out my orbit, requiring months of steroids and a titanium plate behind my eye. Because of the extent of the fracture I wasn’t able to do anything strenuous, the steroids took away all my energy and shot my appetite through the roof, and by the time I was back on the bike I was even fatter and more out of shape than I’d started. Still haven’t gotten my weight and fitness back to where they were.

Full face and high-quality glasses or goggles—every time.
  • + 1
The whiplash at 1:55 is severe, then the scorpion with bike still clipped in for the crescendo is nice
  • + 3
 next one will be #69
  • + 2
Is that Big Cedar at 2:45?
  • + 1
 Lol yeah
  • + 2
Going off house roofs is the original, original. Congratulations.
  • + 2
Is 0:20 Raspberry lane in Park City?
  • + 3
 Texas sized 10-4
  • - 3
@bluntaaronr: what does that mean? Is that the trail name?
  • + 2
Note to self.....don't rock jumps on a 2004(ish) Stump Jumper.
  • + 2
 It was actually impressive.
  • + 3
They've got a Stumpjumper and a Rockhopper, not a Rockjumper. Who do these idiots think they are? sheesh.
  • + 1
I watched this brutality during my lunch break and now I have stomach cramps. Well played Pinkbike, well played.
  • + 1
Same, lunchtime viewing, but no cramps. I found 0.35 and 2.36 particularly cringeworthy, but that didn't affect my appetite.
  • + 1
I do wonder if some of these crashes are karma for filming in portrait. I did laugh my head off at the teeter totter one
  • + 2
thats why i hate those stupid northshore elements for biking.
  • + 2
 1:56. That's physics say f*ck you
  • + 1
That one had me cringing as you watch the rock incoming.
  • + 2
Some bad line choices but a lot of bad riders on this montage lmao.
  • + 2
1:45 is why you wear a full face
  • + 1
 wut a buncha fuckin idiots
  • + 1
Some of there look horrendous Eek I wonder if anyone broke something?
  • + 1
That's what you get for siting in a berm!
  • + 1
Front flip guy was a bit violent but no one forced me to watch it!
  • + 1
That one at the end when the woody tilted and wack! That was awesome.
  • + 1
 That whiplash at 1:55! Ouch.
  • + 2
Yeah, that was like an ISIS beheading video.
  • + 1
Many trips to the hospital here, ouch.
  • + 1
One more week guys! Prepare your puns!
  • + 0
I don't think you'll do well with anything pre prepared. Too obvious. You need to weave it in with some actual content context.
  • + 1
Some of those are terrible. Hope the riders are ok.
  • + 1
0:34. That slam was concussion territory
  • + 1
Felt that last one - ouch
  • + 1
I miss Air Rec. Should have never moved home
  • + 1
Second last clip, is that Whiteface double teeter?
  • + 1
 Wondered the same thing
  • + 1
Definitely, my kids ski through those trees on the way to lodge. You can see the big rock under the feature to left when he first approaches and the lift through the trees. Been skiing there for 15 years would know that double teeter anywhere.
  • + 1
Is the first one Ricochet at Aston Hill?
  • - 1
I'm pretty confused about the guy at 00.56. Would he qualify in Fort Williams or not?
  • + 3
 *she
  • + 9
 @toast2266: its ma'am
  • + 1
 Well; sucks for you.
  • + 1
 2:12 "The wind!"

Ya, ok
  • + 1
 These were all great!
