Five years after the film's release, Darren Berrcloth, Kurt Sorge, and James Doerfling's section from China still features some of the heaviest riding of all time.
Where The Trail Ends is available for purchase on iTunes for just a few more days. It will be taken off sale by the end of the day on August 31st. If you haven't seen it, it's totally worth the $2.99 to own the film.
It is true, all the myths and legends you have heard are all true. A golden age of bikes, some say it was the best era to have existed. If you listen to the whispers, and if you look hard enough, you might see the mythical riders brave enough to sport a wheel size smaller than 27.5
I've watched this movie....I don't know how many times - at least 100, but everytime I do, I just want to go ride. Moving to BC from Ontario in a week, and absolutely can't wait!
Still my favorite MTB movie ever. And this part was my favorite section of it! This is the one movie that truly captures what Freeride MTB is all about
Damn that gave me flashbacks, I think i was 14 when I saw this movie. I thought it was so cool that I grabbed my bmx bike and rode to a nearby construction site and started riding down the big dirt mounds they had made, trying to roost up the loose dirt. Those were good days.
This was such a great movie and will always be a little special for me. I was working for a tattoo magazine at the time and saw this when they were promoting in theaters. I met the director and we chatted a bit after the movie, and I eventually got to interview some of the guys and the director himself (some more). I was able to put together a multiple page article on the movie in the magazine.
That was only 5 years ago? Those bikes seem ancient, the technology into bikes seemed to take for ever to evolve and now it's exploded. Riding is still on track tho!
Yes but I think the filming took a solid two years or more to film and edit. I remember when this came out the bikes were out of date. So it's more like 7/8 year old bikes.
@brianpark: I'm old enough to have that one on VHS. Haven't been able to watch it for several years now. I honestly think that it is the best of the lot as well.
Remember watching the free preview when I was in Northern Argentina! iTunes wouldn't let me purchase it down there! Bought it the moment I got back to the states!
I can pinpoint the moment I wanted to start mountain biking, and hence buying a mountain bike... It was watching this around my mates house a couple of years ago. This film was the sole reason I started riding
Watched that movie once. No plans on watching it ever again. And when I watched it, all I could think of was the idea of a radical movie, called "Where the trail IS". Cuz, you know, I like trails...
Also, *Sorge.
or The Collective for cinematography.
