Industry Nine Hydra Mountain Hubset Details:

Industry Nine hubs are at the heart of your wheelset. Made start to finish in our Asheville, NC machine shop to elevate your ride, Hydra hubs are designed with a lightning quick 0.52° between engagement or 690 points of engagement. Claw your way up the most technical climbs, manual at a split second’s notice, and rocket out of every corner aboard a set of Hydra hubs. Built to keep you in the saddle and out of the service queue, Hydra utilizes an independently phased pawl system to mitigate uneven torque on the axle, freehub and bearings. Stand out on the trail with our in-house anodization lab offering riders 11 unique color options.

Value of $650 USD

I don’t know who is pulling the strings behind these contests, but I will **** your **** immediately for these hubs.

Just let me know what kind of cake you want me to make for you.

If you're going that far, make sure you get some spare bearings and freehubs out of the deal, because you're going to need them.
  • 2 0
@Apfelsauce: at least some of that "ol hub grease"...
  • 11 2
@Apfelsauce: I’ve owned three sets of Torch hubs. Zero abnormal wear or lifetime issues. Good thing that I maintain my equipment!
  • 7 2
@onlyDH: Same, no issues with my Torch hubs after thousands of miles
  • 2 0
@Apfelsauce: no issues with my torch as well over 5000km on them

This was last Wednesdays Win it, where's the fresh meat?!
  • 25 1
Saved by the Bell called. They want their background back. Also, sweet hubs, I would like them.
  • 18 0
i just want my bike to sound like a swarm of bees
  • 3 0
Then these hubs are you jam! Had a set of Torches for a while and they have been spot on, zero issues other than typical maintenance.
  • 4 0
@bman33: Would love to win these, never tried a hub with more than 18 points of engagement and I'm considering upgrading my wheels so these would be perfect on my new bike.
  • 4 0
@brennanrim: The Hydras as actually quieter on trail than the Torches. Sounds weird but several of my friends have them and definitely can tell vs. Torches side by side
  • 3 0
@bman33: might also be because they're newer and still packed with grease.
  • 6 0
@NebulousNate: No, two of my friends have been on them well over a year. My DH bike has the Hydras as well. Definitely less loud than Torches. They are higher pitch, just less decibels if that makes sense.
  • 2 1
@NebulousNate: I have a set, I'm surprised at how quiet these really are. No angry bee sounds here
  • 1 0
@NebulousNate: You can use Dumonde Tech freehub grease if you want to keep them quiet. They do gradually get louder but it takes a while and you can just pull the freehub right off with no tools so it's easy to re-lube them

You can compare the Hydra and Torch here and learn how to modify the sound of the Hydra with oil or grease:

I've had Torch hubs on an I9 aluminum wheelset since 2015, the ones with their aluminum spokes and they have been bulletproof. Of course I had to eventually replace bearings after several thousand miles but I still ride them to this day with a Wolftooth Boostinator kit w/o issues. 142 ain't dead.

If I won these hubs I'd have them first built onto some I9 wheels to last through the apocalypse.

These are nice, but is there still a chance to win those 30 Kenda tires?
  • 5 0
or two maxxis and a sharpie?
  • 4 0
i cant even buy a wheelset from them,... doubt i have a better chance of winning this..
  • 1 2
Is it because they are out of stock, you don’t have the money, or like for me the I9 website SUCKS?
  • 2 0
@unrooted: all of the above ,... no they are out of stock for 12 weeks .

My friend ordered a set of I9’s for his kids bike. They were told 4-6 weeks lead time, paid full cost of wheels, 10 weeks later he’s on his third stopgap tinfoil wheelset and I9 is using his and everyone like him’s money to run giveaway contest on PB To get more orders they won’t fulfill on time. If you want high quality hubs that look, sound, and run much better, just get the gold standard and buy Chris King.
  • 18 1
@Mattysville: sorry that your friend's and many other orders are delayed. We're humbled by the amount of people getting out in the woods and opting to ride Industry Nine. Right now the bike and outdoor industry is seeing record demand, and while we try our best to give accurate info sometimes we miss the mark. We're producing our highest-ever number of hubs and wheelsets, but we're still off the back (and well off the back) on a number of orders. Any shops or riders with delayed orders are welcome to drop us a line at SALES AT INDUSTRYNINE DOT COM and we'll see what we can do to help out.

@IndustryNineOfficial: I attempted multiple times to order a set of wheels this past week from your site, knowing that there would likely be a long wait time for my order...but your website either wouldn’t go past the cart to the checkout page, or later it would claim that I didn’t input my address properly...when I did. Thankfully I found a good price for a Chris King wheelset.

 thumbs up

I know you gots to market them somehow, but I don't think my slow-engaging hubs ever had an effect on my ability to manual!
  • 2 3
Are you sure? Maybe you should buy I9 hubs from them and wait til 3 seasons from now to find out when they actually get them in stock.
  • 4 0
In related news, slow engaging freehubs hold you back on the pumptrack too.
  • 4 1
Luv the Hydra. Re-starts are key with this hub on impossible climbs. Waiting for a warranty while I run a DT350. Not quite the same.
  • 20 4
Waiting on a warranty on an extremely expensive hub while riding a hub that you'll never have to warranty due to being the most reliable/easily serviced hub around that can be had for a low price (relatively).. yeah something's different about it for sure haha
  • 3 0
I just snapped the axle in my SRAM rear hub so this is perfect timing! Come on random chance!
