SO they drug test at every race. Is that why ratboy retired?
  • 68 3
 It's just a plant bruh.
  • 17 6
They gave him a choice... you quit or we impeach you...
  • 16 0
Troy gets tested at every race at least. I was looking over the UCI rules and they are mainly testing for doping, obviously, but also interestingly are okay with marijuana under certain levels, the idea being to make sure you didn't partake within twelve hours of the race. Race weekend? Not sure.

I respect his leaving but certainly miss Brycelands presence at the races.

I might have that totally wrong, but all the same a surprise to me.

@LoganKM1982: they test troy all the time because they need a clean test... thats how they do...
  • 34 4
@LoganKM1982: cos clearly, smoking a blunt within 12 hours of hitting a WC dh course is going to generate a competitive advantage. I think championship points should be added in proportion to the amount of thc running through their veins (as long as they make it off the team couch).
  • 6 6
@BenPea: I think they're just looking out for the riders and don't want them to hurt themselves
  • 7 1
@YungSketchy: do they test for Molson's and Camel Lights too?
  • 18 4
@YungSketchy: I get baked before every ride I take on my bike, one at the bottom before the climb and one at the top after the climbSmile
  • 6 0
@VPS13: at least before the ride starts.
  • 1 0
All UCI WT and E (MtB) races, as well as 1.1, 1.2, 2.1, 2.2 they'll pull at least the podium and a few randoms for mandatory doping control. USADA is a lot more thorough than CCES (Canada doping control) when it comes to testing cat1/2, cat3 and even masters.
  • 1 0
@BenPea: I'm down. Who do we talk to at UCI about this?
  • 3 0
@RONDAL: Good to know. That's where a lot of my surprise came from. Here in the states in spite of ongoing legalization it's still "officially" frowned upon. They still fine NBA players for testing positive for thc. I mean really? So hearing that the UCI allows it at all made me do a double take.
  • 1 0
 @BenPea: wynnocent. Love it
  • 4 2
That, and he has a lot more fun and freedom riding what ever the fuck he feels like.
  • 3 2
was prolly those gray DH bikes with the wagon wheels that did it

When the UCI introduced testing for weed their reason was not that it was performance enhancing, but that it altered the behaviour and assessment of risk by the rider.

Additionally, they didn't want riders stopping mid-course to check out "the amazing bark on that tree... "
  • 22 1
@iamamodel: amazing bark on that tree... someone added LSD to your weed man. #envy
  • 4 0
@iamamodel: I'm not sure I trust their judgement after seeing how anti-doping has been handled by the UCI in road cycling. But it's fair enough I guess, if slightly open to amusement.
  • 4 0
@LoganKM1982: if I remember right the NFL just stopped testing for THC this year. Hoping that it'll stop having all the players addicted to pain pills.
  • 1 0
@potthead: I believe the league offered the PA to conduct a study on the benefits for pain management but wasn't a response from the players association yet
  • 5 2
How about that? You smoke weed and go for a ride. You may get a bad trip with paranoia where you ride off a root and become convinced you are flying down Canyon in Utah rubber up, but you may also begin to feel that you are absolutely awesome on the bike which by the way is best bike in the world. End of bike industry as we know it. I need Spec Enduro 29 S-Works with SWAT to stash weed in it...

there's a lot of drunk fans at the St Anne race, similar to the dunk Ausies at Whistler, minus the loudmouth 'bro' heckling antics. People literally brought full drum sets up the hill in the past. I've seen a lot there, it's a great time.

So -at first glance- if Gwin qualifies top 2 or so and wins the race he gets the overall title even if Greg gets second?
  • 2 0
@endlessblockades: If you get DQ'ed like a certain someone, do you loose your quali points? Someone said a certain somebody might contest their DQ to scrape back a few points
  • 3 0
@hamncheez: nope. i was just checking uci world cup standings and greg took home some points from the weekend
  • 2 0
You know, @jdbrill, I really appreciate you
  • 2 0
@hamncheez: No they keep the quali points - Minnaar is contesting the DQ - it's 8 pts between that and his 71st or whatever he ended.
  • 5 0
@neimbc: Ah. DIdn't realize that you still get points that far down

How ironic that both 1 & 2 in the overall have ben DQ'ed this season!

@nsteele: make extra puppets for the people being interviewed too, do the whole thing in sock puppets.

Or even better: Rob and Claudio Muppets

I mean Jim Henson Muppets btw, I'm not using the term Muppet as an insult. I think Rob and Claudio are great guys.
  • 8 2
Conky would kick mini wyn's ass all day long.
  • 1 0
I think the banana received better reactions
  • 4 0
@LoganKM1982: LMAO!!!! so amazing - remember the two grumpy old men in the balcony? That would be funny to have them cameo as Rob and Claudio - just maybe not for the pre race run review - would be very sketchy. I love Rob and Claudio too but both have such great senses of humour and fun personalities I bet they would be game xx

@Mirks: Hell yeah! Love those old guys

Sooner or later, the guy with the least amount of alcohol in blood on those pits will be Wyn.
Make your own conclusions with that Smile
  • 4 1
Finally!!! I've been looking for this since Gwin crossed the finish line.
  • 3 0
 Why didn't he interview Minnaar??
  • 18 0
Probably because he still had tissue balls stuck in his nose and Wyn couldn't deal with the hilarity.
  • 2 1
I really liked how Troy Brosnan stinged Wyn when he asked him "how many race runs have you done in your life". Spot on! Hahaha
  • 1 0
MiniWynnie should stay! Perspective of camera more like portrait. Cool stuff! More of these (interviews & puppets)!
  • 2 0
Do we have news about Minnaar's DNF ?
  • 7 0
Alien abduction... Jesus, are we gonna do this again?
  • 7 1
It's a shame about the whole entering the track at the exact spot thing. Caught Greg out last year and Aaron earlier this year. Maybe they could change it to being ok so long as no advantage is gained and the rider makes an attempt to reenter at the approximate same spot.
  • 3 0
@westeast: How would you know there wasn't any advantage gained?
There's no way to tell unless you visibly took a spot like in XC racing.
  • 5 0
@onetrykid: Good question and perhaps it's a grey area so the UCI just sticks to their rule, but I'd think the same marshal that is making a call as to whether or not a rider re-enters the track at the exact same spot could just as easily make a call as to whether an advantage was gained. I really can't recall an instance where a rider went off track and gained an advantage...this isn't endure ha ha.

I just hate seeing a rider, like Greg in this case, be DQ'd when they clearly didn't gain an advantage by going off track.
  • 1 0
@westeast: that's actually how the rule is already written.

4.1.035 If a rider exits the course for any reason, he/she must return to the course at the same point from which he/she exited. If the president of the commissaires’ panel deems that the rider gained advantage, the rider is disqualified (DSQ).

Kinda enjoyed the puppet. Might be better with a different accent though, to set him apart--Russian, French, Texan?

Where can I check the Overall results after the Round 6 in Canada?
  • 3 0
search the internet for all sorts of crap because UCI's site is horrible. Minnaar 932 Gwin 899 Brosnan 855 Nicole 1190 Hannah 1080 Seagrave 1044

Dirt has been posting updated overalls after every race this season, it's been a godsend dirtmountainbike.com/racing-events/downhill/mont-sainte-anne-overall-standings.html
  • 3 0
@gemma8788: Think that's where I finally found it.

UCI is freaking garbage. They need to have tabs for overall and just World Cup.

How hard is that?
  • 1 0
@onemanarmy: They dont have the results anymore either they link back to the the event site which has both race results and the overall standings.
  • 1 0
@onemanarmy: It's insanity inducing, has been for years. Just today dirt posted a cool spreadsheet overall calculator for val di sole that allows you to play around w/positions and outcomes, worth checking out. #lightyears
