 2:31...oof...damn
  • 20 1
 Is the rock OK?
  • 10 0
 Yeah. I don't think he's ok.
  • 24 0
dislodged that poor boulder that was just minding its own business.
  • 1 0
 @schwaaa31: That hurt!
  • 6 0
 like is he dead?
  • 12 0
If I’m not mistaken, that’s the first instance of a “Jaysus “ on FF
  • 7 0
Hardest crash ever... that hurts to watch!
  • 1 0
For real, is that guy okay. Any story to that?
  • 1 0
 Has to be dead.
  • 2 0
I literally exclaimed the same phrase, at the exact same time as the onlooker, "Oh Jesus!" That was brutal. Hope the dude is OK.

Hey guys I'm the person in the video, for some reason Pinkbike didn't also post the other angle I included of the crash so here is the full thing: www.pinkbike.com/video/551518
And for those wondering I'm all good now, didn't break any bones but had a couple months off the bike since I knocked myself out, but I'm back riding again.

@Cheeky-Greeky: Jesus man, that’s some smash. Very happy to hear there was no lasting damage done.
  • 2 0
@Cheeky-Greeky: so hectic. What track is that?
  • 3 0
@Cheeky-Greeky: you made that rock move like it was paper mache’
  • 2 0
 @fektor-b: Mansfield DH Track
  • 2 0
@Cheeky-Greeky: Seriously bro that's good to hear. I've always imagined racers at speed hitting something as solid as that rock would be very fortunate to walk away with their life. Hope you're back to riding!
  • 35 0
The number of riders going off a drop with no speed just amazes me.
  • 15 0
People riding drops dragging their back brake = forward loop out to the face
  • 2 0
Ha. No speed (meaning 0) would be the best option Smile
  • 2 0
@ethanvandenbrink: at 1:56 you can see that the rider was braking the rear wheel with his butt, amazing how fast you can initate rotation mid air.
  • 1 0
@ethanvandenbrink: or inadvertently braking via their butt hitting the rear wheel at the worst possible moment.
  • 24 1
Every now and then I like to stop and give thanks for how gutless I am. Great genetics.
  • 18 0
2:48: wrong day, that was a save!
  • 8 1
 His nuts disagrees
  • 3 0
@wutamclan: At his age, they'll grow back.

I appreciate the new responses to crashes this Friday:
"NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO"
"OOOOOOOOOOOOOO!"
"That's a bad idea! Don't try it!"
  • 14 0
FF - Epic dust cloud edition
  • 9 0
What do you mean, "Don't try it."? Try it - Film it!
  • 4 0
 right???
If riders heed this advice, Friday Fails as we know it dies, and none of us want that.
  • 8 0
way to start it off with a classic taint brake OTB, always a fan favorite
  • 6 0
 taint a good idea
  • 2 0
When it doubt, set rebound to max.
  • 5 0
I'd love to see a whole week of water-related fails. That 1:23 pond/marsh crossing at mach-chicken speed attempt was really refreshing to watch on a hot summer day.
  • 2 0
It was pretty refreshing haha. Everyone I talk to says, “if you just went faster and pulled up harder on the bar, you would have had it.”
  • 1 0
For the chap @ :31, he's smart for having chest and back protection. And 1:56 the rider seemed to have the proper backward position - maybe didn't hold it long enough? That was odd.

One day bikes might have accelerometers and some mechanism to reverse thrust for casing, and general OTB conditions.
  • 5 0
the guy at 1:56 buzzed his ass on the rear tire pretty good. I think thats what ruined his day.
  • 2 0
@rallyimprezive: You're right - thanks for pointing out. Easier to spot at .25x speed.
  • 4 0
@njcbps: exactly what I did. I think the guy in the opening crash must have done the same thing.

I am hopeful that Ive learned my lesson about that without ever doing it myself.
  • 4 0
The guy @ :31 is my buddy i actually filmed that.
I thought he would be messed up but just bruised his hand, never seen a scarier fall in person.
wear you protectors people!!!
  • 1 0
@rallyimprezive: take a look again at how the first guy crashed
  • 2 0
 @SATN-XC: Done. Now what?
  • 1 0
@stormpeakmenace: Whew, glad he came out of it ok! Did he buzz his ass on the tire? How did it happen?
  • 3 0
@rallyimprezive: the vid doesn't do it justice of course but that section is close to 40-45* & right next to where i was standing was a big hole and it bucked him super bad.
  • 4 0
I watched the very first crash in slowmo and I still cant figure out how he ejected out the front door so fast.
  • 4 0
Leaned back too far and their butt hit the tire. Bike stopped and the rider's momentum went forward.
  • 2 0
 ^^^^^^^... classic taint brake.
  • 1 0
@SATN-XC: Yea, I got that. As I said in the other comment where you disagreed with me. Make up your mind, haha.
  • 1 0
@rallyimprezive: on the contrary, wasn't disagreeing at all, just pointing out another instance of it occurring in the first clip
  • 1 0
What in the world was he thinking with that body position in the first place? lol
  • 5 0
This segment needs Ben Cathro voiceover explanation for each fail.
  • 1 0
Cathro would lose his shit after 2 or 3 too slow, full backpack wearing otb's. By the time he got to the end of the vids he'd need a lie down.
  • 4 0
@2:06 - Always wear protection when entering the V.
  • 1 0
theres nothing like going down fully rigid and entering the V at low speed with no protection
  • 4 0
Lesson of the day: There is such a thing as leaning back too far.
  • 4 0
 0:11 is a save...for the dog
  • 2 0
 "Dumbass!" Big Grin
  • 2 0
@Paco77: Definitely the dog's fault. The rider/owner was not responsible in any way.
  • 2 0
I’m always fascinated how many ride without knee protection. Don’t wanna know how few can enjoy the rest of the ride nor how they walk when they’re in their 30s.
  • 4 0
First time I have seen a Water Scorpion in the wild!
  • 1 0
Ah, it’s a rare beast indeed! Yet I still refuse to ride flats.
  • 3 0
Genuinely curious what the person at 1:24 was expecting to happen...
  • 1 0
Honestly thought it would be cake, but alas, it went from 6in to over a foot rather quickly and unexpectedly.
  • 3 0
A lot of these could have been avoided by just going a tad bit faster...
  • 1 1
I know right. Its almost as if making mistaked leads to crashes or something.
  • 3 0
OTB Week! RIP to guy dislodging boulder at 2:31
  • 1 0
 poor bastard!
  • 3 0
The dude at the end saying don't try it, really makes me want to try it.
  • 3 0
 Water Crossing.... Dudes face..Priceless!!
  • 1 0
Ha! Slo-mo is pretty good too but you don’t get the grunt.
  • 3 0
The ole iconic 401, spot of doom.
  • 1 0
That’s a buddy. It most certainly is.
  • 2 0
1;56 is why i use a mullet setup. 29er rear wheel is to close to my ass in steep sections.
  • 2 0
Yeah the inside the tape one was a brutal hit. Hope they are alive / able to walk.
  • 2 0
f*ck 29r rear wheels, causing all these OTBs on drops; to be honest 29r up front can piss off aswell lol
  • 1 0
 Its not the wheels lol.
  • 2 0
 Well said: "Don't try it."
  • 3 1
FF, the big GASP! edition. And they snuck a Saturday Save in there....
  • 1 0
I think this is the dusty edition. So many dust clouds!

Freeride zone at NCCC at 0:50 mark... have had some equally sketchy moments there haha!
  • 1 0
Kudos! Such a nicer way to end the last clip.
