Nobody needs to see the Borat clip or the gravel bike clip. Too late to un-see.
  • 3 2
 bro so true
  • 64 0
I think everybody should see the gravel clip so they can see what a bunch of losers we.... uh, they... I meant "THEY"! - are.

@number44: Why did the first gravel dude even crash? He's cruising along and >BAM on the ground. WTF happened there?
  • 8 0
@BenLow2019: He rode into the wheel rut and curbed himself. Not sure why he didn't stay out of the rut, it was huge and not deceptive... object fixation most likely
  • 18 1
 @BenLow2019: because 73.5 deg headangle
  • 25 0
@BenLow2019: Why are you asking me? I thought I already made it clear I definitely (absolutely (firmly)) do not ride gravel, and if I'd did I'd know nothing about crashing. And if I DID own a gravel bike, the HTA would be 74 degrees; speculatively speaking.
  • 4 0
At least he got what was coming, dirt and gravel directly into that naked butt cheek.
  • 3 0
Or everyone needs to see it. Sooooo much skin was sacrificed for our entertainment!!!
  • 4 1
 @BenLow2019: hit a twig.
  • 6 0
@BenLow2019: it's called a drop bar gravel bike. You drop the bar into the gravel and VOILA!
  • 2 0
@number44: I’ve come to the conclusion after a lot of calculations that you are a gravel rider
  • 30 1
Ddue, give people more than half a second before you hound them with "you good? YOU GOOD?!"
  • 28 0
It's a reflex action to quickly reassure themselves that they aren't going to have to do anything to help
  • 6 0
 @lacuna: haha probably!

I've taken to asking "where are you hurt?" This lets the crasher bring some actual info to light.
  • 2 0
 @lacuna: Unexpected LOL
  • 4 0
@lacuna: Very insightful! 99% more related to us feeling safe as an observer than really asking if the guy is hurt. Most of the time its not a question, its like a wish - "you ARE good, right?"
  • 1 0
 *actively running it off*
  • 1 0
"good? are you good?" - guy's running away from you - "ARE YOU GOOOOOOOD?"
  • 5 0
@nelsongk: interesting hey. It's kinda like the bros with the other bros don't want anything to spoil their sweet day with a downer like someone being injured. It's almost like a passive aggressive instinctual reaction they need to voice. The rider who just crashed is socially required to do that little 'phone' signal with one hand, say "yeah I'm good bro" then continue the perfect bro day.
  • 3 0
@freeriderayward: It's also possible these crashes invoke anxiety in those who witness ... so they're eager to hear if the person is OK to relieve their fear.
  • 26 0
Gravel bikes are getting so much more capable these days with the new geo and what not. That road was looking gnarly af!
  • 2 2
Um . Road and gnarly don't go together.
  • 25 0
The third guy in a jump train is like that unknown member of the Star Trek landing party - you just know he's going to buy it before it happens.
  • 12 0
 red shirts die.
  • 1 0
 @owl-X: it's simple as that
  • 1 0
Charlie Brown, just trying to keep up with the rest of the Peanuts gang.....
  • 1 0
@nelsongk: Right! It’s always the third guy in the train that eats sh*t. As you said, like the guys with the red shirts in Star Trek. I guess they put him in the back so they don’t cause a train wreck.
  • 2 0
I think everybody consciously or unconsciously understands the Comedy Rule of Three.
  • 20 0
That’s the first time I’ve seen a bike clear a jump while the rider cased it.
  • 2 0
Also not sure I've ever seen someone get taken out by a tree before they retun to earth
  • 21 2
My wife always says "I don't want you trying to ride anything that is beyond your capabilities", she's not usually talking about riding bikes, but sometimes she is.
  • 14 0
3:10 "too slow" - he speaks the truth we were all thinking
  • 12 0
That gravel rider could have easily rolled over or bunny hoped over his buddy's bike
  • 28 0
Gravel rider bunny-hopping…you’re asking too much
  • 4 0
Gravel bikes have disc brakes - people should learn how to use brakes - period!
  • 21 0
clearly doesn't have a BMX background
  • 5 0
@pinkknip: Indeed, ... no BMX background in that crew Wink
  • 2 1
@nsmithbmx: Damn... beat me to the punchline
  • 3 0
@pinkknip: To be fair, me mountain bike rider bunny-hopping is asking too much. Unless it's a beverage can, I can mostly clear a mean beverage can.
  • 1 0
@nsmithbmx: or cross, or road, or track, or mtb.
  • 2 0
@nsmithbmx: I here a lot about bmx backgrounds here on pinkbike can you explain this on going joke and by the way I’m new to pinkbike comments.
  • 3 0
@MTBER12: watch Pink bike academy season 2, if you can stomach it. I'm not saying it's worth the joke, but I think you need to discover it organically.
  • 1 0
 MvdP would have, no doubt.
  • 3 1
@MTBER12: Often said by mountain bikers who want claim some kind of bike handling credential. As in after getting crushed on a climb you say to your mate to save your ego " I'm better on the downs because I have a BMX background." Although some riders clearly have a legit BMX background, can fakie, ride vert, or pull a 180 roll out reliably, for most who claim the "background" it likely means they rode a BMX bike when they were 12 and still can't actually handle a bike very well. Used so often that it now if you say it, you are instantly branded a poser.
So if the gravel rider would have had a BMX background he could have hopped over the rider who crashed in front of him. nsmithbmx's comment made me genuinely laugh.
I actually think it's also funny to explain the whole thing.
  • 1 0
@Dookiedoodle: thanks I watched pinkbike academy
Season 2 last year and i think I understand now with Alaina not doing so well except with the air time challenge
  • 1 0
Watch his hands, he doesn't even pull on the brakes
  • 7 0
I think this is the best assortment of crashes in a Fails all year. A little bit of everything.

The case to falling off a bridge at about 1:00 might be the most beautiful fail of the year........a multi part fail, with good camera angle and lighting, in slo-mo. Pure poetry
  • 4 0
And the videographer committed to capturing it through to the end rather than filing the ground whilst running in yelling "you okay bro?"
For almost everyone else: either take the video or be a stand by first aider. Choose one task and do it properly rather than half arsing both.

Vertical Video Syndrome is still far too prevalent.
  • 6 0
We were slowly winning this war until instagram stories showed up... now it's lost forever Frown
  • 2 0
@Paco77: Yeah, that and tik tok. Frown
  • 9 1
Gravel bike riding on gravel... falls over for no reason. Huh.
  • 5 0
it was actually the most exciting gravel biking I've seen!
  • 8 0
This has got to be a record for the most non-jump fails in a week.
  • 1 0
Friday Hi-Side Wipeouts just doesn't have the same ring...
  • 1 0
@nelsongk: Maybe time for Wednesday Washouts?
  • 7 0
I found the gravel bike crash satisfying and I feel like an a*shole for saying that Smile
  • 3 0
It was hella satisfying. Dude with the cam might have busted a wrist or 2. But do you call inept gravel riders an MTB term like Gapers or Gumbys, or a roadie term like Freds?????
  • 2 1
I found it satisfying as well. I don't feel bad. Sucks to be those nerds!
  • 6 0
Was the video at 2:13 recorded on VHS tape?
  • 6 0
 Betamax.
  • 5 0
Glad to see the Cypress Creek lilypad making it on Friday fails...
  • 2 0
ha was just going to post the same thing!!
  • 4 0
Gravel bike+ go pro… wtf GoPro worthy sh*T do you think is going to happen???
  • 1 0
the kind of sh*t that makes it on Friday Fails. How much snickering and how many less comments would there be if that yahoo didn't turn on the gopro
  • 2 0
Lots of crazy shit can happen,no matter what you are riding..
  • 3 0
Finally a friday fails that includes guys just losing it on berms. I was starting to think I'm the only one who crashes that way.
  • 1 0
Just have a buddy document it. Everyone highsides a berm sometimes.
  • 5 0
 BORAT RIDES!!!
  • 3 0
I think I learned “you ok bro?” in a new language at 0:51… “reecha doubledee”. Swedish maybe?
  • 1 0
I think it was Polish - 'być dobry' - be good - or something like that?
  • 1 0
 @GoWithTheFlo: It's Czech, basically saying "c**t, good?".
  • 3 0
Friday Fails is why I don't ride Fridays.
  • 2 0
0:53 is my favorite. That was some old school wwf stuff he was trying on that tree brother. Oh yeah!
  • 1 0
Something really funny about a full grown man calling another full grown man "big guy"...

" ya alright there big guy", idk why, just strikes me as hilarious
  • 1 0
What if a grown man calls himself big guy.
  • 1 0
@fabwizard: if it's calling oneself a big guy as a factual statement that's one thing. If it's to oneself, like "you got this big guy" then it's hilarious
  • 2 0
0:29- PB failed at Friday Fails.
  • 3 0
I hope Big Guy is OK!
  • 3 0
 lol "you ok big guy?"
  • 1 0
The 3rd guy in the bike train at 1:50 reminds me to always lead the train, never be the last one.
  • 2 0
 lol, " y'alright rabbit?"
  • 1 0
 @ 2:13 => The blair witch project (picture & sound) ; followed @ 2:53 by "Go, go, they're getting closer !"
  • 1 0
At what point in my mtb career will I be able to say with confidence “I think I can flip this”?
  • 2 0
I feel like the evil laughter at 0:26 is coming from the tree...
  • 2 0
 Rider: *Still crashing*
Filmer: "YOU ALRIGHT???"
  • 2 0
2:55, Rabbit almost pulled off a front flip on flat land!
  • 1 0
 The stifled laughter at 2:16...
  • 1 0
The noise the guy who crashed made was very unpleasant “auugh”
  • 2 1
don't ride faster than your gradian angle can fly
  • 8 0
Don't fly higher than the gradian angle dictates.
  • 1 0
You alright, Brian? Seriously, that looked like it hurt.
  • 1 0
Guy vs. Tree at 0:53 is a good one. Have done it myself, and the tree won.
  • 1 0
Dude at 1:35 was definitely landing in the transition
  • 1 0
The crash at 00:8 was my favourite (he says with a glint in his eye)
  • 1 0
 Cru Jones @2:30
  • 1 0
 "Twehvoo"? @ 2:36
  • 1 0
