Some say the rider from clip 1 is still flying to this day
  • 1 1
Homie said, "gravity? Hold my Molsen"
  • 1 0
and that last one......that first jump on lower Aline is lippy! gotta be ready to pop, or else you're that guy.....
  • 3 0
 Looks like a Superman nothing.
  • 61 0
That was the best opening fail to date
  • 2 0
@tbmaddux: I knew that looked familiar. was trying to see if anyone would confirm. nice!
  • 13 0
Think I sussed out why he crashed... He needed more speed.
  • 5 0
Is it just you or are people getting worse at riding. Maybe we need to back to steel hardtails with no suspension since all these improvements clearly are not working.
  • 1 0
 @bigtim: Yeah, it's a double!
  • 4 0
@tbmaddux: I love that the trail description actually warns of this feature: "You will want to scout this next one. A large ladder drop to pavers, followed by a quarter-pipe step-up gap back to the peak of a hill"
  • 17 0
@jorgeposada: People aren't getting worse. Gopros are getting cheaper!
  • 5 0
I've never seen someone launch that far over that jump!! Definitely need to check your speed there. My first time through there my buddy said "no brakes" and I nearly did what this poor guy did.
  • 1 0
@reximus42: Yeah I don't hit that sequence, but clearly the entrance is awkward and twisty for a reason. It looks like he may have gone all the way down to the takeoff of the drop below, or worse.
  • 4 0
 He’s gone plaid!
  • 1 0
@Fix-the-Spade: Hahahaha. That's a good one and very true. Back in the day only skilled riders were Go pro worthy. Now it's used as evidence.
  • 2 0
@tbmaddux: absolutely bonkers. I hope this guy lived. He might have cleared the box jump below it!! SUPERMAN!!!

1:26 If your lift ticket is flappin' off the handle bars you are destined for Friday Fails
  • 8 0
 Joey coming through!!
  • 5 1
I thought that might be the price tag still on the demo bike....
Why would you want to crash your own bike like that?
  • 2 1
@billbek: So.... when you want to crash a bike its best to make sure its a rental? I'll remember that next time... I... want... to crash......?
  • 2 0
@tkrug: I exploded a rental bike's rear wheel this year. The $30 damage waiver is way better value than paying for a new Flow ex of my own.
  • 4 1
@Fix-the-Spade: not that part of the logic in the comment I was questioning
  • 2 0
 @tkrug: Fair point.
  • 1 1
 @tkrug:
Lol. Demos or rentals, ride 'em hard and put 'em away wet.

Think you're reading a bit too much into the comment, Mr. tkrug.
Starting to think you might be a shop owner that has had his demos trashed....
Wink
  • 3 0
@billbek: Guess it depends on the shop. We always get a laugh when we see a rental come back demolished by some legend who sent it way too hard.
  • 29 1
You know it was a great summer when,
1) You know not one, but three riders in the videos
2) You recognize a half dozen trails because you rode them recently
3) You weren't a participant in friday fails

 @oldfaith: Oh shit, you're right!
hahaha!
  • 30 0
But does the doggo usually send that drop??
  • 7 0
 immediately wondered same thing
  • 4 0
@IsaacO: Probably not, but he may have realized someone was about to ruin his ride-around
  • 2 1
He does actually send that drop if his dad doesn't ride off the side lol
  • 28 0
2:59 - what does one do with hours of selfie gopro footage?
  • 88 1
 Masturbate
  • 4 0
Ya, it seems like it'd take some ego to want to watch your own face for that long. That said, it was one of the most hilarious fails in the clip this week, so I'll take it.
  • 2 0
Capture moments like the one that made it into this edit.
  • 13 0
So how do you go about making sure you dont nose dive like these dudes every week. Asking for a friend
  • 17 0
Step 1: learn to bunnyhop PROPERLY
Step 2: make sure you aren’t riding a two wheeled pogo stick
  • 5 2
Good jump technique - transfer off the jump - pump into it but pull up off of it then center yourself for the landing. The guys who nosedive push into the jump (or just ride into it) get taken by surprise or poorly time it or just never pull up off of it and are forward when they go off the lip.
  • 15 3
@Jvhowube: Don't pull up, your arms aren't equal strength so you will often unbalance yourself. if your suspension is set up right and you preload correctly, the bike will do the work
  • 11 0
In the most simple terms, squat down as you approach the jump, stand up as your bike leaves the lip. This separates the upward force of the bike from your body. The nose dive occurs when the energy from the back wheel (being the last thing to leave the lip) is transferred through your legs rotating you forward.
  • 1 0
 @Pedro404: this is great
  • 1 0
@Pedro404: Pumping with your legs is great advice but make sure you read all the way to the end of the article! If you pump too early the suspension will totally unload and kick you forward onto the front wheel.
  • 3 0
 Don't film it?
  • 1 0
slower rebound on the rear shock helps, mixed with proper technique.
  • 14 0
Sorry boys, I'll have a rap for you next week.

Can’t wait to have kids so I can be mad it’s not bleeped out lol.
  • 2 0
 SEND IT BILLY edition!
  • 6 0
3:20 I got your back, bro
  • 4 0
What was he thinking? It was pretty obvious that he would hit him long time before. Initially I thought that he would jump over Rider2. But Rider2 couldn't go nowhere else. The trail was the landing of the jump
  • 1 0
Dude is not about to leave his chair
  • 3 0
@alexander80: I thought the exact same thing, pretty bad choice there.

as someone who just tore my PCL, that 360 to broken leg clip almost made me puke
  • 1 0
PCL buddies 3. I got three more months of PT to go.
  • 3 1
"so guys I was reading pinkbike this week and the new IBIS comes with less rebound damping than other bikes.. wanna try it out on this double??"
  • 4 0
The best Friday Fails in months.
  • 1 0
Freaking love it! Took 2 dirt naps out of my last three rides, one of them a bonafide JRA OTB. I popped up and yelled "You've got be kidding me, come on!" Now I know the JRA thing is a real phenomenon!
  • 3 0
I wish you didn't include people like the guy at 0:58. I want pure turkeys on the FF.
  • 3 0
1:02 "ah f*ck I think I broke my leg". Yes, I'm afraid you have.
  • 3 0
Can confirm, leg is in fact broken. Lol
  • 1 0
@camjoye191: Was it you in the vid? What'd ya break?
  • 1 0
@rallyimprezive: yep that was me, broke fibula and tore some ligaments in my ankle
  • 5 0
@camjoye191: Ouch. Wishing you happy physio and a swift recovery.
  • 1 0
 @Fix-the-Spade: thank you much appreciated!
  • 3 0
The King Kong crash was gnarly. The drop in is so intense
  • 1 0
 is that at 1:46?
  • 4 3
it's always amazing how many of these lads haven't learned how to set rebound appropriately before sending some of these jumps.
  • 1 0
 It’s like instant catapult!
  • 17 0
It's not rebound that's the problem, I run very fast rebound and love to jump. It's about learning proper jumping technique (center body position, compress in the bottom of the lip and pull on the take off).
  • 1 4
 sure
  • 6 0
@novajustin: I can assure you technique is more important than rebound (while both are important)
  • 1 1
@gnarcissist: there’sa reason why the rental bikes at downhill parks have tons of rebound damping...
  • 4 0
While watching these I thought "I bet someone is going to blame rebound. Technique is the problem here."
  • 3 2
Watching the dodgy jump lines that some people have to ride (and video) - consider myself so lucky that Duthie Hill is 20 min away...
  • 3 0
Shale Master Wipe, OUCH! I wonder how many cuts he got?
  • 2 0
He got "cut of the year" at the clinic according to the doctor we saw. Cut his left forearm down to the bone from wrist to mid forearm. No other real injuries though. 16 stitches later
  • 1 0
@gnarcissist: that is the only reason I will not do that, fall and bleed out maybe Wink
  • 1 0
@onecutmedia: @gnarcissist: So you're saying it was onecut...?
  • 1 0
@onecutmedia: Sorry, bad pun... I meant ie: you asked "I wonder how many cuts he got?" Then gnarcissist said he got cut (singular) of the year. Cut his forearm to the bone but no other injuries. So I made a play off of that and your username... it also fits onecutmedia b/c that was one take. One physical cut, one video "cut", onecut... anyways. A joke that bad deserves no laughter, I forgive you. Big Grin
  • 1 0
@mtbikeaddict: did you hear the space shuttle flying over my head? lol
  • 2 0
@onecutmedia: Not really, I couldn't hear it that far up. Razz
  • 2 0
@onecutmedia: never mind that was redundant... space shuttle... lol that's a good one
  • 2 0
I tell my daughter who is 6 that its alright to say f__k! if you are actually bleeding. We all know it makes it feel better.
  • 1 0
AHHHH THE SHALE MASTER CRASH!! I did the same thing a couple years ago and still happy I walked away without getting cheese grater'd!

Friday Fails Is a family favourite of ours. Unfortunately the language in the last few episodes and especially this one means we will no longer be able to enjoy this as a family. PinkBike, can we not bleep out some of the language?
  • 1 0
Rather than have them bleep the bad words, why don't you just turn off the sound?
Then don't ever go outside because the world is a scary place with scary words.

#facepalm
