After a horrible injury, Ben Cathro has rehabbed himself well enough to ride but is he well enough to race? Join Ben at the first round of the 2020 World Cup DH season in Maribor.
that social media academy episode was the opposite of what biking is about, and this episode of the privateer is exactly what racing bikes is all about
@poleczechy: the idea is great, execution is a bit off.i thought it was going to be ten people get a mouth of full factory support and whoever is the best gets a contct.
How awesome is it that Ben (and the sponsors) filmed this... then Jamie Edmonson becomes the cinderella story of the final race? Fortune favors the brave... way to go and try to make something out of nothing, Cathro. I think this series may have ended up better than it would have if it had all gone "according to plan."
Man this is so sick... no egos, no overly hyped production *cough academy cough* just a community of people who are stoked on riding and racing. Privateer Nation!
Ben would make a brilliant team manager. Get your own team together Ben, I heard of a guy called Danny, pretty good at riding DH, he might be available.
Ben has run a team for a good few years now with his riders now in WC teams and racing world cups as privateers.
To think that Ben used to race for Cut media, who now shoot Danny Mac!
Now Ben shoots videos and a rider he just shot got a WC podium at the weekend...
Ben, pinkbike and your sponsors, this is superb. Biking is expensive and it's really heartwarming to see you guys reaching out the privateers. What a great way to the make the most of your situation Ben. Cheers!!
Man it'd be super cool if pinkbike setup something like the mavic neutral service veichles but for world cups. I can't imagine how many privateers have missed their shot just due to a mechanical that they don't have the parts to fix.
Great video and a testament to the man that everyone at the SDA's has known for years.
I wonder if Ben played any part in Jamie doing so well, even just those old wise words.
Well done to Jamie, spending your summer digging jumps and riding the new trail at Glenlivet has paid off for you, keeping you grounded and chilled and as a result... fast and level headed.
This behind the scenes look at racing is really neat! Great editing and storytelling all around! As Ben said, major props to all the sponsors for continuing to support the project, and really looking forward to the final race weekend's episode!!!
This was such an excellent episode. Pinkbike please please please set Ben to support privateers at WC as he did this time. It wouldnt be a lot of cash but it would get you guys a lot of respect. Privateers getting soaked in the rain while the big teams relax on sofas under huge awnings isnt cool. Cathro's Privateer community support is a brilliant move.
What an incredible series!!!!
Thank you Ben!
Thank you Max!
Thank you PinkBike!
Thank you to all the other sponsors!
and thank you to anyone I have missed!
What a fantastic episode. Great pivot from the series to overcome the disruptions to their plan. The slomo atmospheric montage around the finals runs had chills running down my spine - wonderful stuff!
Awesome video.Ben and proteges need to become the Privateer WC DH team. He can race too. The riders need to take the fight for privateer places in the WC to the UCI!
is this show any good? i didnt find the personality of the enduro privateer that much interesting so i stopped whatching but I know Ben from other content, so i am evaluating to give it a try....
This is hardly clickbait, especially considering it's basically a behind the scenes look at some of the factors leading to Jamie Edmonson getting on the podium in Lousa.
@Bikerdude137: how is this not clickbait: "After a horrible injury, Ben Cathro has rehabbed himself well enough to ride but is he well enough to race?"
Hmm, somehow I watched every single episode of the previous Privateer series (the one with Adam), yet I couldn't get through even a single one of the new one (with Ben). Something has changed a lot, I feel like it was much more organized previously, editing wise and narratively.
@brianpark @mikelevy we got a Comment Gold contender here! (Subjective of course but this comment made me lol hard!)

Yep ! They may be living in Sweden , but you only get an accent like that in Australian schools .
I'm presuming dual citizens and they are getting some assistance?
I mean their main sponsor is one of Aus's biggest distributers (Lusty) and short of saying C&*t, their accents are no doubt true blue Aussies.
Step up MTBA, Aus Cycling or whatever your name is this week! Give these lads some help.

Have you seen youtube recently? This is definitely NOT clickbait
Do you know what clickbait is?
Generally it's an exaggeration or even a lie in the title of a video. Almost always with some kind of fake thumbnail so that you click on it.
Nothing about this video is clickbait (or anything pinkbike has posted for a while)
