While we love seeing pro slopestyle riders throwing down huge tricks in their competition runs, what about when the pressure is off? We asked the world's best slopestyle riders what their favourite trick is.

Would love to see an event of this added to the stops -- style and fun tricks. More engaging than the tech wizardry that slopestyle is at right now.

Love it, same as whip off format

 Let's start emphasizing more style

I personally love a good ol'straight air, maybe with a slight 45° turn of the bars, often accompanied by a nose dive...

Thanks for asking them this question. Interesting.... Loved it. Great content!

The riders seemed sad about having to push these insanely difficult tricks to podium instead of just getting out there and enjoying themselves

Fabulous question. Really enjoyed the video..... and the mid air thrusting. Rock out with your cockpit out.

I was watching them practice on the final quarter and was amazed by how smooth their riding is. No matter the altitude they were landing tricks really clean. I'd hardly call this style of riding mechanical but rather nicely choreographed.

it’s really sad to see the course Slopestyle is plotting right now. everything these riders are saying affirms what I have been feeling for years. The emphasis on high risk tricks makes the sport both uglier and more dangerous. if you look at the progression of professional surfing, it got to a point in the 90s and early 2000s where everyone was on the same tiny board doing the same cutbacks and airs. It got boring to watch and a lot of competitors burned out. Now there are a lot of really cool creative and stylish surfers doing their own thing. that’s why I completely understood and aligned with Nico Vink’s decision to part ways with the first series. it was turning into the mass media X games circus. I respect all the riders who partake in it, but it’s lost its magic. Niko Vink is doing real soulful free riding I have so much respect for him. I don’t watch slope style because I find it mechanical and unnecessarily dangerous. it does not make me wanna go out and ride. so much respect to all of the slope style riders, but I look forward to the competition evolving into something more creative and rider driven, and less X games.

The saddest thing was what David said, that he wanted the 36 can one hand and judges said its better to flip double bar... I now its a contest and all but that is slowly killing the creativity. I respect Emil, a tru legend, but his run is almost identical to Kieran Reiley , just different venues.

I guess this is one perspective, but I personally LOVED DarkFest and all the coverage, plus the inclusion of pro women and the progression they showed. Slopestyle is a contest and only a single event. The progression is amazing and there are lots of outlets for showcasing other aspects of their riding; every single rider has a YT channel where they're doing the tricks you are asking for. To say the runs put together here are "mechanical" is pretty disingenuous, and I'm pretty sure guys like Rogatkin & Paulson would be trying to throw those tricks regardless of a contest scenario or who was watching.

I love how their easy tricks are (almost) all really hard tricks.
