Anyone else completely disagree with who was sent home? Both secret pros DNF'ed... A mechanical issue isn't entirely his fault, he was extremely fast in his split, and Bradley was farther behind than Cameron was. Don't really understand why they sent him home.
  • 13 1
 Totally agree
  • 84 7
Because he couldn't beat Emmet or Bradley in any of the other races, whereas Alaina was able to be competitive in the non-physical ones
  • 129 2
@swenzowski: I can agree with that. But as a counter point, Cam seems to be a LOT closer to being able to race Enduro than Alaina is.
  • 37 4
Can't agree more. And there are no non-physical enduro races. That's why it is called enduro.
  • 28 2
Bradley was not behind Cameron at the first split... really didn't matter who went home between the two as both wouldn't win the competition anyways.
  • 11 0
Cameron was 3rd at the first split..
  • 24 4
Let's be real. They knew who's going to take the win from the very beginning. Everything else that happens in between is for dramatic effect.
  • 24 0
@swenzowski: what bothers me is the argument from Gully: "you need the full package". So for me it was clear who from Cam or Alaina would go home. She showed some highs on the not so enduro stuffs and some lows on stamina and technicality. Ot felt like a big contradiction from the judges. Now we know neither will win their category so, not really a big deal in the end.
  • 24 0
@talanking: also how blind is it if one of them races BC cups? Probably knows the track a bit at least.
  • 2 3
@ct0413: I agree with this...within the first few days I am sure the judges already have favorites and know who they want to win. It seems like the judges are just using opportune moments to eliminate contestants they want gone.
  • 4 1
@EnduroManiac: It seems to be a trend that the judges do the complete opposite of what they say or don't stick to consistency. Remember last season with best influencer photo challenge that Tom lost? The judges picked the one photo that doesn't show any of the sponsored gear branding (Fox clothing, Orbea bike, etc) as their favorite because the photo was taken so far away.

And people thought Outside was ruining Pinkbike. Nope, its all the users who care about this reality TV show and industry garbage. BRING BACK ULTIMATE FREERIDE CHALLENGE!!!
  • 6 3
@2pi: They are not picking the best enduro racer, that would be easy and probably none of these people. They're looking to sponsor a brand ambassador, social media influencer and seller of all things bike.
  • 8 4
@EnduroManiac: It doesn't matter because this whole season was set up so they could give Flo the contract. It has been painfully deliberate.
  • 18 0
@sayitlikejohn: and didn't Emmett say he hit all his lines? Would suggest he knows the track so not really blind. Also, why did the secret pro's get a practice run in?
  • 12 1
@tvan5: Yeah, she's not gonna win, but it's kind of annoying how long they've kept Alaina around. She simply doesn't have the fitness or commitment to be a top tier enduro racer. You can tell she dialed it way back to get down to the bottom of the course, while everyone else was going for it. I don't blame anyone for prioritizing safety, but that's not how you win races.
  • 23 1
But Cam doesn't have a BMX background...
  • 4 1
@swenzowski: Isn't that the problem? She can't compete in the technical or physical challenges, and enduro is both technical and physical. She's not going to win, or even compete in most of these challenges, so why are they giving her so many second chances, when with Cam they sent him home for getting a mechanical that was not at all his fault.
  • 20 0
Also Cam is just such an incredibly kind and supportive person to have in the competition.
  • 4 3
@withdignityifnotalacrity: yup she has been the most annoying to watch and not be sent home. You can’t call yourself a pro with her fitness.
  • 1 0
Runs PAR with the other decision, non-decisions being made. @talanking:
  • 3 0
Cam obviously has no bmx background, which seems to grant a green card week after week.
  • 6 0
Yeah, I love this show and appreciate the judges’ commentary, but they regularly make some absolutely baffling decisions. At this point, it would be better if there were a review board behind the scenes to intervene when the judges make a questionable call.

Christina and Gully are charismatic hosts, but the show would be more enjoyable if the eliminations were more strategic and merit-based. This week’s wasn’t as bad as eliminating Addison for habitually ensuring his own bike was safe to ride, which is a good quality for a professional rider. However, Cameron could actually compete in a professional field (even if not a top tier rider); it’s hard to imagine Alaina or Kira even qualifying at this stage. Plus the men and women's sections are now totally imbalanced.. we just have 2 male riders and we’re just half way through the season.

Granted it would be equally frustrating if they totally disregarded the week’s result, and only selected based on overall potential and ability. But past performance should be more of a factor.
  • 7 0
Judges: We are looking for complete package..
Judges - sends Cam home and keeps Alaina who was marginally competitive in non-physical and not technical challenge..
  • 4 0
the judges need to be harsher, halfway down christina needs to be pushing them and yelling at them to go faster instead of telling them to just be smooth and get a run down
  • 3 0
@Curse-of-the-foot-long-sub: yeah and she should have a whip and be dressed like a devil.
  • 123 0
Cam is a really positive guy. He is not at the pace of the other 2 male riders but he would be a great ambassador. PB, hire this man and put him with Tom. He has the skills and a fantastic personality.
  • 82 7
What a stark difference between him and Cody, eh?
  • 17 17
@IsaacBikes: yeah but don’t be harsh with Cody. It’s probably less easy to be like he is. I can somehow relate to that. It takes a lot to change. I know what I am talking about. But first you have to be able to admit or observe this. Only then can you try to change and get happier. Go on Cody, it’s doable!
  • 14 13
@EnduroManiac: I know I am a super negative guy in sport and I find it really challenging to stay positive when I am not achieving what I think I can achieve. It's why I moved from MTB racing to ultimate frisbee, where I can rely on my team to help get me out of my own head. Even with my team's support, it is still a big challenge for me.

I also know it is 100% my issue, and not someone else's.

I can sympathize and empathize with Cody. I get where he's coming from. But I also purposefully moved away from a solo sport where I would eat myself up inside. So I am also frustrated by his behavior.
  • 12 0
 @fraserw: wait what now?
  • 9 0
 @owl-X: ultimate mtb frisbee
  • 7 1
I agree - great brand ambassador kind of guy. Rides for all the right reasons, has skills, great with people and seems like the kind of person anyone feels comfortable around. Any brand would do well to put him on an ambassador program.
  • 5 0
@fraserw: Well, there's a reason why some players don't do well on some teams and they get traded.
People seem to be forgetting that different things affect different people.
I've seen some people become totally different people (for better or worse) due to a particular person being in the room.
  • 119 7
It took 28 minuters, but PBA didn't disappoint.

BMX background.

Skål!
  • 5 0
but is she a good sprinter aswell?
  • 2 0
...and it was like a stand-alone line: BMX Background!! [dramatic pause, again] 'nuff said.
  • 87 1
I'm curious on a "blind" race day why they didn't comment or clarify if Emmet had ridden that track before. As a BC Cup track, and given Emmett's close proximity to the location, I would be shocked if he wasn't familiar...even a little. he stated in an earlier interview he hadn't ridden there in a year or so but had raced regularly at their Toonie events previous to that. Either way that should have been part of the discussion...even just a "I have never ridden it..." or "I rode it once or twice" in passing. Bradley was no doubt running it full blind and that could have been a factor...even if just a small one... that should have been noted. Not at all a dig at Emmett. I have been a big fan of both him and Bradley and with Emmett's mental, physical and technical skills am sure he has some awesome, well earned, opportunities ahead of him in the sport.
  • 51 1
I wondered that too, especially when in the post run interviews he mentioned that he was happy with his run and that he “hit all his lines”.
  • 20 1
@ODubhslaine: yeah that seemed like a definite I know that track comment, also the comment about the top is like this and then lower it’s like this. It definitely wasn’t blind for him, he might not know the exact conditions but definitely had beta.
  • 11 1
@ODubhslaine: it was evident he’d ridden it before when he stated that the bottom of the track was more flat out so he could pick up his pace there.
  • 3 6
Since Bradley didn't get sent home it doesn't really matter.
  • 13 1
@mikeb: He also has the 4th fastest time according to the leaderboard, as well as 3rd all time checkins with 9.
  • 3 4
They've all ridden it before. They were there before filming started and were given time to test and set up their bikes. It's hardly as if there are lot's of tracks to choose from off the lift. Fair enough they maybe haven't scoped it with a mind to racing the track but they will all of been down it at least a few times.
  • 7 0
@barry9559: so it was vision impaired race not blind.
  • 70 3
It's good to know both secret pro's would have also been sent home today... ‍

Today's episode is a pretty good reason why the show should switch to a cumulative points based system like people are asking and just keep the contests on instead of doing weekly eliminations.
  • 15 1
To me it was clear that he who was eliminated was based on everything up to this point so far. He was clearly the 3rd best of the boys. However, I do think it was Alaina’s time to go. She doesn’t have the pro potential that the other 3 gals have.
  • 11 0
@WasatchEnduro: It's funny you say that because I've seen Kyra as a sleeper from day one. She's been riding for only a short time and anyone that rides bikes that sees someone progress that quickly on a bicycle knows that the ceiling is usually very high. I would keep my eye on her as my assumption is in another year or two she will be absolutely shredding.
  • 9 0
Everything was on a script before they all arrived, so I take it easy. Now I'm heading to the pump track to grow some BMX background to compensate for my lack of skills, endurance and speed.
  • 6 0
What looks to be a bit of a dinger on Christina's thigh during the judging discussion may confirm that she's the womens secret pro.
  • 58 2
Spat my tea out at BMX background.
  • 2 0
My brother and I started dying laughing too.
  • 53 0
That is how you Bow out gracefully. The last few weeks are going to be interesting.
  • 26 0
 Pure class from Cam!
  • 49 0
Bradley rides like a rhinoceros with a grudge to settle. Keep him in till the end, please.
  • 37 2
 Another week of thoughts:

- For anyone who recognizes it...Happy thanksgiving.
- Blind Run? Doesn't Emmet have a decent amount of big white experience? This was brought up a few times earlier in the season but we aren't going to touch that this episode...?
- Damn, nice time from Laura.
- Cam saved that flat pretty well, could have gone way worse.
- I completely disagree with the decision to send cam home. I figured it would happen eventually but this just feels weird that both Alaina and Kyra are still here. Comparing split times? Weren't kyra and alaina 10 seconds back on that same split? Alaina was 17+ seconds off the back of the top rider.

Meh, I'm going to go eat some food.

edit: last thought:

- Why haven't we seen a multistage enduro challenge? I guess we kind of saw it once but is that really the same? Can we not simulate a full day of racing?
  • 20 0
Surely the full enduro race is going to be the season finale. Flo vs women’s pro; emmet vs men’s pro. Whoever gets closest wins.
  • 6 0
 @AyJayDoubleyou:

I’d love to see the top 4 battle against the pros in the final. Would be more interesting. Not sure how they’ll choose a winner tho.
  • 37 0
kyra is always going to have a place in my heart with an attitude like hers
  • 10 0
 Wolverine
  • 4 0
Kyra is totally Balls to the Walls, eh.
  • 4 0
Kyra has the headgame. I'd give that more weight if I were a judge. Fitness can be developed, skills can be learned. But downhill racing at least requires a really strong mental game. Not sure if enduro is the same, but I suspect so.
  • 35 1
Cam is such a class act. I understand the decision but I am so glad he got this far and really hope to see more of him in MTB media. A fantastic rider as well.
  • 13 0
Yeah, that guy is going places in life!
  • 25 1
Every episode I've seen comments on Youtube and here complaining about the product placement and adverts...how do you think high quality content like this gets produced? How do you think the sport of mountain biking will grow? Certainly doesn't happen for free. Glad to see the show sponsored by such recognizable brands, hopefully that means we will continue to get great content from Pinkbike and more advertising dollars being thrown into the sport in general.
  • 27 1
I enjoy the show, and find myself watching it every week. I also find myself pissed off at the judge's choices every week.
  • 2 0
Probably what keeps us commenting and engaged
  • 25 2
and also can we get and AMA with addison I want to know how he feels returning as a mechanic and if he is going to continue for the next season. I really like the dude on screen presence
  • 15 0
Interesting to hear his behind the scenes opinion of Flo for sure.
  • 25 0
That drone following so closely would drive me insane.
  • 2 0
I remember Bernard Kerr being annoyed with the drone in one of the DHWC races this year. You're focusing so hard, heart rate is up, barely breathing and you have this annoying wizzing noise behind you for 4 minutes.,
  • 2 1
but on the other hand, some great drone camera shots
  • 1 0
@Ryan2949: put a bee inside your helmet, you'll get used to the sound very quickly
  • 23 0
for next year, a chainless run would be cool and some coaching from the "Pros".
  • 6 0
That would be brilliant. Amazed show creators didn't think of that
  • 2 0
 Yes. Both ideas are brilliant.
  • 22 0
Cody needs to take notes from Cam on how to make a graceful exit.
  • 19 0
Can you show the times up for more than a few sec. It sucks having to get off my ass to press pause. Literally the most important information...
  • 18 3
I mean, maybe Cam is a bit of the back of Emmett and Bradley but in the overall he's performed way better than Kyra and Alaina. Any way those 2 girls will soo be eliminated too.
  • 3 1
 Soon*
  • 33 1
In another time Kyra would have been the last one standing on a medieval battleground swaying on her feet yelling "stand up and fight cowards!!"
Smile
  • 17 0
Was the music stressing anyone else out ? My Garmin stress score was 110%!
  • 16 2
The top female (Flo) had the shortest shorts at judgement, out of the women riders, while the bottom woman (Alaina) had the longest. Conversely, the top male (Emmett) had the longest shorts out of the men, while the bottom rider (Cam) had the shortest. I don’t know what that implies about the contestants, judging, or mtb in general really, but it can’t possibly be just a coincidence.
  • 3 0
I don't believe in coincidences... Big Grin
But given the fact that FoxHead gave them a bunch of apparel and looking at their dress code, it looks like the supply shortage is real
  • 17 2
"We need to consider the complete package" than decide to keep the rider who has shown NONE of the skills needed for an Enduro race. Checks out
  • 1 0
 this
  • 12 0
Sad to see Cam go as he was the only actual personality on the show, he was never going to win but was the only one who was remotely interesting when he spoke. Agreed he couldn't beat Bradley or Emmet but let's be real none of the other girls are even remotely close to Flo. Cam was bound to finish third but you could see he was at least attacking the course and giving it a legit go. Flo cruised knowing she just had to make it down safely and still smoked the other competitors.
  • 20 4
I just want Flo to win
  • 5 0
Definitely other worthy competitors, but yeah. So badly.
  • 8 1
She will win of course. She is pretty much a Pro already, at least if you look at her results. She is a well know racer that got a couple Top 10s in the EWS already
  • 8 1
@bashhard: yes exactly why she deserves a pro contract.
Definately on my F.E team next year.
  • 3 1
@bashhard: dang, if she's got some top 10 results already then she could probably negotiate herself a pretty nice contract.
  • 1 0
@Portulacaria-afra: She deserves that pro contract, for sure (and some other girls that come to mind). It looks like most brands/industry don't want the girls to race, and they have tough job finding support.
  • 13 1
Emmet is the local pro. Cam should have been given a pass. He has the best attitude and most mature. He may not win an EWS but I don’t think anyone on this roster would win an EWS.
  • 3 0
He's really young too so has the potential to win an EWS ...
  • 15 1
Cam is a winner because he can loose. Still encouraging the others and taking it like a champ!
  • 11 0
Rough go for Cam, definitely didnt deserve to go home this week. Now this only means one thing, offer Cam a content creator offer like Bradshaw!!
  • 11 2
I cannot understand it either. In the last 2 episodes they are mentioning that Alaina would not be able to handle an Enduro race because she is not that type of fit. And on the other hand they send Cam home because of a mechanical.....without any disrespect to the girl...what are they waiting from her? To build that endurance and fitness till the end of the episodes?
  • 2 0
What’s the timeline for the filming of the show? The application process mentions two weeks but no specific dates.
  • 9 0
Pinkbike... Give Cam that Orbea to take home. He's a good ambassador and you won't regret it.

Not only does he have the attitude, he's a great cheerleader and would make a fantastic ambassador.

Racing is racing but he's the anchor of this group of young aspirant!

That's my $0.02
  • 10 2
I'm both outraged and triggered by the outcome! I want to complain about the outcome to someone!!! Cam didn't deserve to be sent home because of a mechanical. Alaina should be sent home because she's slow even though she has a BMX background.
  • 10 0
I’m gonna reward some serious Pinkbike tokens to the first competitor to take out the drone.
  • 11 1
Departure of Cam reminds me the last season when Tom was kicked. This time mechanical, last time stupid photo contest.
  • 6 0
hopefully this means he'll become a pb presenter then
  • 10 0
Cam takes it's so professionally. Respect for that. No excuses and staying positive.
  • 11 3
PAY TO SEE FINALE AFTER DEC 3 (Outside+)! lol jk, at least I hope. Awesome series PB thanks for creating this opportunity for riders!
  • 8 0
I wouldn’t be surprised, stab (a surfing magazine) made everything behind a paywall and then retroactively made their old YouTube long format videos behind a paywall too
  • 11 5
What was with Gully pumping for Bradley - I think he has beaten Emmett in one challenge (barely) and he got crushed by 8 seconds today yet he was what they were talking about. I like Bradley but c'mon man.
  • 12 0
I guess it depends whether they're taking Emmett's local knowledge into account? If Bradley hasn't ridden that track before but is within 8 seconds of Emmett who has, then that's pretty impressive.

Plus they have to talk up the competition to make it exciting TV!
  • 12 4
They should have sent Cody home
  • 9 2
Looks like BMX background for the save.
  • 3 1
 it's the PBA plot armor
  • 9 3
Get your own BMX Background! Now at www.unsplash.com
  • 6 0
Emmett has hair. I did not know that.
  • 4 0
Cam is a true class act. Have not heard a negative work from him in any episode. Although I disagree with sending him out ya gotta have two wheels to finish a bike race.
  • 4 0
It never fails to surprise me, that no one is wearing body armor. On that kind of trail, the cost of failure will be quite a lot?
  • 2 0
nor inserts! I run inserts f&r even for beach cruising!
  • 2 0
@Fulgacian: The no inserts really surprised me. I bet Cam could have finished if he was running something like Cushcore pro or Tannus armor.
  • 31 27
Drop the Garmin product placement. No one gives a shit about their body battery.
  • 4 0
While that's true. Garmin also pays them to make this show. So I guess it's worth it? Even though it is literally the most useless metric.
  • 7 0
But the 100% stress level for the mechanical at the start was funny.
  • 7 1
 Alaina is my MTB crush
  • 26 1
Is it because of her bmx background?
  • 1 0
@kingbike2: seems bmx background is the most important attribute for a mtb-er haha
  • 3 0
I've seen Chef Ramsey kick many great chefs out of hell's kitchen. they sent a great rider with great potential, personality and deposition home.
  • 5 2
If I wanted a wallpaper of Jason sitting on that chairlift, who would I talk to?
  • 95 1
 A shrink
  • 3 0
 @royalsrule: BWAH!! Blurtlaugh thank you
  • 2 1
Well,I gave watching this show another shot.
It's still mostly frustrating, but at least a bit less cringy than season 1.
Maybe next year they'll do something that vaguely resembles enduro?
  • 4 0
Not even Pinkbike can get a chain.
  • 5 2
why is the judging so bad?!
  • 3 0
Wonder what tyre casing there running ? At least would have to be DD or DH
  • 1 0
 If they’re running stock bikes it’s exo+
  • 3 0
To me it seems odd not to run inserts on a course like that regardless of tyre casing.
  • 4 1
 Mar sin leat, a bhalaich!
  • 1 2
So what happens next week either Brad or Emmet will be in the bottom 2 against one of the female competitors. Some times gender gets brought in to this and sometimes its excluded. I get there's only 1 prize but they should eliminate 1 rider of each gender each week.

I'm stoked for Kyra and Alaina, they're not good enough (yet) to win but they've seen first hand what it takes so hopefully this inspires them improve. A lot of people think they're fast until they race people who are really fast.

This may yet happen but I would like to see what they can do in the Gym. Training off the bike seems like part of every pro rider's training. They could do strength to weight to compare like they did with FTP
  • 1 0
I'm not fast by any standard, but seeing peak speeds of 42kmh (I haven't ridden Rancho Catapulta) doesn't seem like true race speed on that part of the track.
That said, I split my helmet in half last Saturday on a rock garden at 37k, so I guess 42k is out of my league Big Grin
  • 1 0
Appalling decision. "Gully" lacks any sort of personality, jeez what a boring guy! Get Rob Warner on this and make it interesting
  • 3 0
 Dave Grohl is super annoying
  • 4 5
I think that the location is not that great for this program. This video is long, and we see they are trying to say a lot of things regarding this track, which is just a rocky track.
The show would really get more intresting with different locations, and various terrain, because these tracks absolutly not look like Enduro race tracks in Europe (where 90% of EWS take place)

At least we learned how good these Shimano chains are
  • 1 0
although I agree, i don't think they have the production budget for that. Whitefish, MT I think does Enduro races though. that's not too far away from B.C.
  • 1 0
@shwinn8: Maybe, a blind race in Squamish would not be so expensive, or Enduro tracks out of the main mtb resort.
  • 3 0
A bmx track would be a good location.
  • 3 1
What would Flo need to do to beat Emmitt? Will there be one contract or two?
  • 8 0
Come closer to the female pro than Emmitt does the male pro in the final.
  • 5 0
@no-good-ideas: My money is on Emmitt beating the male pro. He's already done it three times if you count not getting caught by the ebike.
  • 1 0
There will be a secret mechanical on the final stage.
  • 1 0
Can we get last year’s contestants with this years format? Not a lot of good characters this year. I sold everything & box background on repeat is tiring.
  • 2 0
Wonder if cush core in the tires... or doesn't matter.
  • 4 2
Cam-What a humble dude! Such a contrast to cry baby cody.
  • 1 0
Were any of these runs really "blind" for Emmit? This is his home mountain right?
  • 4 2
Thankfully minimal BMX background references on this episode.
  • 2 0
But it looks like it grants immunity
  • 2 0
is this episode more popular because cody's not in it?
  • 3 1
Of course he has to be sent home, he doesn't have a BMX background!
  • 1 0
 BMX Background
  • 2 0
Cams so likeable. Hard to see him go
  • 1 0
Next week is gonna be a banger
  • 1 0
the classical music over the race run was perfect
  • 5 5
Funnily enough I think I preferred season 1. Maybe the variety of challenges was better.
  • 2 0
yeah... I think it's pretty scripted to keep the competition "close"
  • 3 0
I think this is the first episode I have enjoyed of this season up until the poorly scripted/acted judges deliberation.
  • 7 10
Why does whats his name from last year " the friendly mechanic" get more air time then the riders or the judges... Please 30 seconds of shirtless Vlad working on a bike and not talking over this. A real pro-mech would be: "I slapped on a new chain for you Cam, the old one looked fine but you need every edge out there". Sorry to see him go but when nice guys finish last they get sent home, only bad boy Cody got breaks.

Unless it is a BMX pump track race we all know who is going home next week....

His name is ADDISONZAWADA say it know it crank that top button and live it!

This show is MTV’s VJ battle but for Canadian mtb weirdos (double redundant). — Vlad is the champ Jesse Camp but we’re stuck with nice accent man and ADDISONZAWADA as Dave Holmeses. They’re inoffensive but I need me some VLAD
