PINKBIKE ACADEMY PRESENTED BY SEASON 2, EPISODE 6
This time on Pinkbike Academy the contestants face a blind race run down one of the gnarliest trails at Big White. Who has the ability to think on their feet and not throw it all away? Watch and find out.
The course was littered with pointy rocks, just waiting to ruin a race run...
Putting it all on the line, despite not knowing the line.

Christina and Gully are charismatic hosts, but the show would be more enjoyable if the eliminations were more strategic and merit-based. This week’s wasn’t as bad as eliminating Addison for habitually ensuring his own bike was safe to ride, which is a good quality for a professional rider. However, Cameron could actually compete in a professional field (even if not a top tier rider); it’s hard to imagine Alaina or Kira even qualifying at this stage. Plus the men and women's sections are now totally imbalanced.. we just have 2 male riders and we’re just half way through the season.
Granted it would be equally frustrating if they totally disregarded the week’s result, and only selected based on overall potential and ability. But past performance should be more of a factor.
Judges - sends Cam home and keeps Alaina who was marginally competitive in non-physical and not technical challenge..
I also know it is 100% my issue, and not someone else's.
I can sympathize and empathize with Cody. I get where he's coming from. But I also purposefully moved away from a solo sport where I would eat myself up inside. So I am also frustrated by his behavior.
People seem to be forgetting that different things affect different people.
I've seen some people become totally different people (for better or worse) due to a particular person being in the room.
BMX background.
Skål!
Today's episode is a pretty good reason why the show should switch to a cumulative points based system like people are asking and just keep the contests on instead of doing weekly eliminations.
- For anyone who recognizes it...Happy thanksgiving.
- Blind Run? Doesn't Emmet have a decent amount of big white experience? This was brought up a few times earlier in the season but we aren't going to touch that this episode...?
- Damn, nice time from Laura.
- Cam saved that flat pretty well, could have gone way worse.
- I completely disagree with the decision to send cam home. I figured it would happen eventually but this just feels weird that both Alaina and Kyra are still here. Comparing split times? Weren't kyra and alaina 10 seconds back on that same split? Alaina was 17+ seconds off the back of the top rider.
Meh, I'm going to go eat some food.
edit: last thought:
- Why haven't we seen a multistage enduro challenge? I guess we kind of saw it once but is that really the same? Can we not simulate a full day of racing?
I’d love to see the top 4 battle against the pros in the final. Would be more interesting. Not sure how they’ll choose a winner tho.
But given the fact that FoxHead gave them a bunch of apparel and looking at their dress code, it looks like the supply shortage is real
Definately on my F.E team next year.
Not only does he have the attitude, he's a great cheerleader and would make a fantastic ambassador.
Racing is racing but he's the anchor of this group of young aspirant!
That's my $0.02
Plus they have to talk up the competition to make it exciting TV!
It's still mostly frustrating, but at least a bit less cringy than season 1.
Maybe next year they'll do something that vaguely resembles enduro?
The show would really get more intresting with different locations, and various terrain, because these tracks absolutly not look like Enduro race tracks in Europe (where 90% of EWS take place)
At least we learned how good these Shimano chains are
I'm stoked for Kyra and Alaina, they're not good enough (yet) to win but they've seen first hand what it takes so hopefully this inspires them improve. A lot of people think they're fast until they race people who are really fast.
This may yet happen but I would like to see what they can do in the Gym. Training off the bike seems like part of every pro rider's training. They could do strength to weight to compare like they did with FTP
That said, I split my helmet in half last Saturday on a rock garden at 37k, so I guess 42k is out of my league
Unless it is a BMX pump track race we all know who is going home next week....
This show is MTV’s VJ battle but for Canadian mtb weirdos (double redundant). — Vlad is the champ Jesse Camp but we’re stuck with nice accent man and ADDISONZAWADA as Dave Holmeses. They’re inoffensive but I need me some VLAD
I actually would have chosen her to be eliminated over Cameron too, but I don't get why anyone would dislike her based on what we've seen in the show.
Trailer park style clothing: is that Emmet or Kyra?
Bitchy commenting: I thought Tori was quite civil.
