This would have been even better with a satirical approach like ghosting a couple riders navigating from the finish to the pits to see who made the better line choices.

I thought there were some ex-pros in the delegation.. - How could the split pits and neck breaker bridges get accepted by UCI delegates?

This is why the riders are forming a union

Don't know about the pits, but the track would be walked by the UCI technical delegate who is/was David Vazquez ex DH WC racer. Pretty sure he gives the final sign off on the track. We run state events here and the commissare & race director signs off. I imagine gauging the speeds of a WC rider would be hard, but rider safety is always the highest priority. Seems a bit off for sketchy features to get approval when systems are in place.

because in andorra is all about euros

I imagine the pits were an afterthought - long after the Vallnord bid to host a round was accepted by the UCI and it's one those "like it or lump it" situations.
Sounds like Ben was suggesting the (lack of) organisation around the split pits was the real problem. So there should have been frequent shuttle buses for riders.

Ben is normally so positive and happy. You can tell the track/pits setup and the heat ground him down this week.

Pretty sure Barrel won his last junior Worlds titel in MSA 1998 with the fastest time of the day - needs verification though, just my nerdy memory.

 Verified by 0.26 over Vouilloz

Nico was 16 when he won the first ever World Cup DH race, but before the Junior class existed.

Ben please get some rest if you can, otherwise you risk being a potato for the whole off-season. Burnout is no joke. Love your content but hope your family doesn't pay for it later

The situation with the pits is absolutely ridiculous - they should not have been hosting a race if they can't provide a suitable location.

That plus the rubber mats, the dangerous entry to the low clearance bridge, and the ridiculous right turn onto the ramp thing at the ending runout.
At least they finally sawed out some stumps that they had left in the track before the final (or maybe before qualis), no doubt thinking the stumps would make the track even "edgier."

I think the story of the race was Gwin spitting the floor while at the podium lol.

What most people don't know is that there was an audible *ting* like in a western. He then went on to challenge and slay a spectator in a spectacular duel of pistols

 Thumbs up for not dying!

I love a bit of bitter old fud

Ben using the word fud was a highlight of the entire weekend for me. Haven’t heard it in so long, been away for too long.

how come no riders were hucking the second last drop before the bridge like jackson did in the course preview?
  • 1 0
probably due to the near certain death if they were to mess up and crash into the walls of the insanely narrow (and low) bridge. Just a guess though...

 Yeah Ben!

I really can't blame him, the race organization looked like a shitshow.
