Riding, managing and still doing these pb videos?? I have a working theory that there are actually two Ben Cathros to be able to do all these things on a race weekend

If there was anyone stretching themselves a bit thin it is cathro!
  • 1 0
Yeah, it seems a bit much to juggle and get consistent results. Hopefully PB have stepped up and taken over the vid editing etc.

@Monkeyass: Cathro works super hard, it’s wild. We’ve got a great team over there helping too though. Behind the scenes Max, Glen, Henry, James, and more are all helping make these projects happen! Smile

 @brianpark: Thank you pinkbike team!

Please Trek, let your riders have their names on their jerseys... Can't tell who's who
  • 21 0
Monster, loris Redbull, Kate Volvo, Reece

@rockstar02: now that you put it this way it seems intentional. We are forced to associate riders with brands unless you can notice the different riding styles.

Really impressed by how much you're getting done, Ben: team managing, riding, video, etc.. beast mode!

Damn that was so good. Myriam is absolutely crushing, Bernard looked unreal in that last clip. Finn and Loic were also standouts to me.
  • 2 0
That pass by Pompon was pretty sweet. Loic always looks so composed.

Always amazing how the track looks easy when Bruni rides

I was hoping the intense prototype would be fully vetted by world cup #1. Come the hell on Intense, give your guys a shot. Christ, let them ride another bike if you need a year to suss it out.

Yeah as chilled as AG seemed in interview, he must be finding all this unpredictability hard.
  • 1 0
 Bike looks very unsettled

Can’t even express how stoked I am for this.
Good luck to all you amazing riders.

 Bruni smooth as ever

It's absolutely insane how much more composed Loic's bike seems compared to the other guys.

Super good video. Nice camera work, enjoyable commentary. Compared to the VitalMTB Raw Video, this was a sure step ahead.

 Enduro is dead.

If your not good enough to race DH Elite =A Class, you go race Enduro= B Class
  • 6 0

  • 2 0
Well… except that all day enduro is exhausting and if ya think any of the DH riders could just add enduro or stop DH and instantly win enduro races… not a chance. However, I def dont enjoy watching enduro vs DH - just not as interesting nor are cams set up to do it (and saying that as a DH & enduro rider). DH is effin royal. Enduro is close but both require extreme training & athleticism.

@Mtn-Goat-13: Jack Moir's been very impressive since he crossed over. He came 4th in his 1st race, then podiumed or won in his next 8.
  • 1 0
@commental: Agreed. Moir's a beast and theres something to be said - easily - about endurance & strength over the long haul vs a 3-4 min blast, exciting as that is. DH is led by young bucks more than ever w/ oldschoolers like Minaar hitting it enough to show off, but Moir / Rude / Masters and for ladies Pugin or Charre are as fit an ripping over distance as any humans on earth. Its not even realistic to compare DH and Enduro… its like comparing a million dollars in bills and gold: still rich AF

You guys are delusional if you think EWS is on the same level as WC DH. Find me any current top 50 WC guy who didn't do well at an Enduro race. I'll wait.
  • 1 0
@mollow: As far as I know none of the active WC riders are doing EWS races.

www.enduroworldseries.com/rankings/global/year/2022/men

Not seeing any DH riders in this list. Its not even the same training at all. Any of these guys would likely get smoked and I guess shy of riding any local enduros we're not hearing about I don't even see yr point. What elite riders are gonna risk getting nuked in an enduro that would put them outta WC racing? To be sure: I say this as a rabid DH fan who does not watch much EWS except summaries.

Regardless - there are no “levels” except within each discipline. I cant stand Cross or XC (or even watching) but no DH (or maybe even EWS) riders an compete w/ them or vice versa. Its just different forms of riding. “Levels” is a simplistic & meaningless comparison
  • 1 0
@Mtn-Goat-13: Of course not, it's WC season. Plenty of them have done EWS races before and done extremely well, better than they do in DH because the field is that much weaker. There's nothing to argue here, you must be new to the sport if you don't think I'm right...
  • 1 1
@mollow: Riiiiight...almost yrs "new", still obsessed, riding harder than ever..but I appreciate the gnarly tip.

You stated "Find me any current top 50 WC guy who didn't do well at an Enduro race. I'll wait." Kinda open ended - "didn't do well" - but yeah, they're not riding pro enduro now, could maybe "do well" but are not at all on the "level" (your term) of any of the active EWS enduro riders and would probably not rank high. Likewise - any of the enduro pros would get smoked at DH. Either way, they're both intense and saying DH or enduro is a higher "level" than the other is like comparing Indy to Rally, they're just different beasts.

Apologies I can't spit out stats off my brain but since you're "waiting" maybe you can cue up a list of any of the top 50 DH riders who are doing so well in all the enduro races? Not a bust - I'm curious but don't have the time you may have to research it.

@Mtn-Goat-13: I'm not talking about this year specifically. (As said multiple times but you can't seem to be able to get your head.out of your ass)

Ed Masters
Connor fearon
Wyn masters even won a f*cking EWS
Do you know jack moir?
Have you heard about Sam Hill?
  • 1 1
@mollow: This is more the limitations of text flashing on a screen (and egos) vs. a conversation and there are more subtleties & nuances in the discussion than either of our responses suggest...but sure - I must have my head up my ass because you just typed it...you are super cool and I bet you shred really hard.

Correct me if your words don't say this but you said DH = A class and EWS = B. My point, was 1) there are no "levels' - some DH riders to EWS and reverse but that B) no one's really crossing and doing DH and EWS or XC in a season and 3) they'd get nuked if they did. Different points. My main point was - and at no point did you say you weren't talking about various years until your last word puke - isn't that riders can't cross disciplines, but that that no bike discipline is "A class" or "B class" (even the lowly XC which I could care less about". Class & levels like that are fantasy ,but if that is the case, then former DH-to-EWS riders arejust washed up according to your logic. Thats silly.

But even cooler - thanks so much for name drops...you're awesome! Ed who? Connor What? Wyn Why? Jack Meoff? Is Sam Hill a bike park? Man - your level of knowledge is K2. Do tell me more about these riders....and do the French even know about bikes yet?
  • 1 0
@Mtn-Goat-13: yeah, some riders absolutely do juggle between EWS and wcdh races in the same season. Ed Masters almost won the ews overall while racing dh full time. The moment a dh racer commits to Enduro only it's game over for the EWS guys tho, as history has proven. Sorry a few words hurt you so bad. Your insults are quite laughably weak btw, just like the EWS field.

Cheers

Yeah, you keyboard wrecked me for sure...that "head up the ass" line had me in tears...for real! Millennial word dunks are really tough to get around...especially here.

Still - I'll be hanging on the edge of my seat for your long list of DH riders smashing EWS this year - taking out all current top 10 "weak" EWS riders since so many of them do it. Watch out top 10 EWS Class B riders...Amaury, Finn & Loic are coming for you in 2022. Class A rules...Class B are fat c***'s!
  • 1 0
@Mtn-Goat-13: maybe get your glasses or something. And please stop putting words im my mouth. All I said is any top 50 wc dh rider would wreck the f*ck outta any ews guy except maybe Richie ''doped up'' Rude.

Your analogy between Indy and Rally also isn't even close to making sense. Because DH racers HAVE BEEN WINNING EWS RACES. I know the truth hurts, but please stop crying rivers. Get over yourself...

Anyone know why the PBR team doesn't have decals on their forks?

Announcing a new suspension sponsor between rounds. So many people stepped up huge to help with this project.
