Weird how that Pivot e-bike article "disappeared "
  • 4 1
 Huh...you are right
  • 3 2
Pinkbike politely created a safelist evidently, because no eBike-related items showed up on my feed Wink

@rnayel: Thanks for sharing. Outstanding summary of the concerns of eBikes. If PInkbike wants to advertise eBikes on this site I'm taking my eyes and time elsewhere.

Very well written Blister. That should be posted in all bicycle shops!
  • 5 1
There was a Nicoli ebike that briefly appeared on the webpage today and the disappeared after 10 minutes.

@scary1 damn it....don't talk about it and just hope it goes away and dies quietly in a corner. Ebikes are like that annoying coworker that always wants attention, if you ignore them they eventually go away and you can get back to normal. In our case complaining about all the new standards, wheel/tire size, press fit creaking and the pros and cons of neon colored anything.

@indydave124: It's that annoying coworker that your boss always gives props to for no real reason other than they're somewhat related.

@High-Life: Yeah it was odd. I was actually wanting to read some of the articles to see what they were writing but nothing showed up on the feed.

Well, cross Pivot off the list of brands I would consider buying (along with Rocky Mountain).

@rnayel: I love Noah Bodman's reviews, but...ePinkbike? Dude. PinkEbike. We missed our chance.

the narrow-mindedness around e-bikes is shocking, as long as someone is having fun and not affecting any other bikers or hikers experience who gives a sh**

First Ebiker that comes nipping at my heels on a climb is going to get a knuckle sandwich.

I love that there are people who love mountain bikes and love motocross bikes, but hate ebikes. How do you people live with yourselves? It must feel awful crowded up there.

@bnode: I hope you visit Australia Smile

@d3ftone: My only issue with ebikes is the land access issue it creates. Many trails are constantly under battle with people trying to find a reason to ban mtb's completely. An ebike is technically a motor vehicle in the most jurisdictions in the US. Therefore cannot be ridden on non-motorized trails. I could care less if ebike sales rocket up %500. I just don't want to lose anymore access to trails. I don't want the f*ckwits with the Sierra Club slandering some trail meeting, propagating some bs about "All mtbs have a motor now we need to remove them from these lands...etc"or"With so many bikes with 'motors' we can't tell the difference of which one has what. We just need to remove them all from our trail systems".

Well your lucky then! Both those ebike articles are still lurking on my homepage! Maybe if I update my internet security they will be blocked

@rnayel: they just said what we're all thinking.
  • 3 1
@indydave124: ive been saying that about annoying, communist college students for a decade.
Now, they run the places and dictate the terms of how the places run.
The stuffs going nowhere. We'll be fighting them until we cant tell what bike has a battery or not. Then, its over.

@bnode: but it's OK to out climb you on a lighter bike or if they are genetically superior? I'd give out knuckle sandwiches to all dirt roadies and all rich c*nts on carbon bikes over some newb who doesn't understand trail etiquette on an ebike.

Maybe the 11th anniversary will have a threaded bottom bracket.

I have recently demoed the Pivot Switchblade, Pivot Firebird and Pivot Mach 5.5 through the guys at Trail Bicycles in Courtenay. These are absolutely amazing bikes! My main issue is in deciding which one to purchase first - likely the Switchblade, as it matches up so nicely to all the trails in Cumberland. I love the Mach 5.5 - the combination of modern geometry, 2.6 rubber and a 160 mm Fox fork makes it a potent machine, able to attack almost anything. They are all amazing climbers, the Firebird not too far behind the Switchblade and Mach 5.5.

This is the best looking Pivot to date IMO. 10 / 10 , would shred.
  • 11 2
I want to complain about something!!! Loud noises!!!!
  • 6 1
Splendid! I'm sure it will be quite reasonably priced!
  • 1 0
this bike retails for $8100, not 10k. not far off but it is still out of my range. guess i will have to stick with my stock Mach 6 Carbon a lil while longer...maybe slap a custom paint job on it, not that matte black seems to be a thing of the past. but Pivot definitely makes top notch bikes!

I turned on the spot to have a look at this bike!
  • 5 3
read between the lines boys, all this one offs super mega limited numbered editions really mean: "shit we need to get rid of stock before pumping out the new bikes"

It's just like suvs limited edition Eddie Bauer models...

5.5s been selling crazy. If anything has been tough to find them.
  • 4 0
OCD triggered. That 140mm sticker looks mis-aligned...
  • 1 0
Actually I think the decal below it is mis-aligned. The 140mm is paint I believe.
  • 2 0
 300 x $10,000 = $3million. That's a lot of bikes
  • 4 0
 Yes, 300.
  • 3 1
 Not a bad anniversary present....

Pivot did a great job with this bike, I just wish they did the Fire Chicken in Black and Gold!

i didn't know about pivot cycles till this season and I have one word to say "AMAZING".
  • 2 0
is there a fat bike world championship?
what a time to be alive...
  • 1 0
Good looking bike and actually cheaper than I expected at $8100. I prefer the stock red color however.
  • 1 0
That bike is Amazing! I love the colors and that bike would be just so awesome!
  • 1 3
Bikes are really in a state of convergent evolution right now. Looks so much like the Rocky Mountain Slayer, but retains the traits that make it a Pivot at the same time. Just like how sharks and dolphins/killer whales are a lot the same, but really different when you start looking at the organs.
  • 2 0
Dammit, Maxxis, now I'm going to have to try the Rekon too.
  • 2 1
Looks to good to be a Pivot Wink
  • 1 0
Looks really good, I like the colors
  • 1 0
 Matchy match match match.....
  • 1 0
We can keep doing this little game
  • 1 2
At least the paint job is a lot better than what they've been cranking out the last 3 years.
  • 11 12
Does it have a motor? I am personally not going to buy any brands that make e-mopeds.
Unless they are made in a shed.
  • 3 2
Looks like your changing hobbies then!
  • 1 2
Look at the lower/main pivot. Just imagine how much stiffer it could be if it was 1X specific.
  • 1 0
 like that 1 of 300
