by Pivot Cycles

In England, there are two things in greater abundance than people realize: Sunny days and excellent mountain biking. And no one knows how to take advantage of these two things better than Bernard Kerr. With a few of his favorite things - like the Trail 429 Enduro Build, and a 3-wheeled car, Bernard attacks the Surrey and Hampshire hills on a bluebird day.

Not sure this helmet would save his life... #makeFFhelmetgreatagain #stopcryingwhenaprodiesbecauselackofprotections

@RedBurn: You have no idea what you're talking about and you're offending more people than you could ever know. I don't think a full face would save you from me if I saw you on trail and you were spouting that BS about me morning the loss of my friend. Stop spending so much time trolling this site and more time on your actual bike. #LongLiveJordie
  • 11 1
@RedBurn: how about a big f*ck you, you don’t understand anything...
  • 2 3
@RedBurn: While @RedBurn phrased their comment in probably the douchiest way possible, I think it is a valid point that has been bothering me for a while. Why show riders riding at such a pace without a full face? This is clearly downhill speed, and warrants a full face helmet. I see the effect of these videos every time I ride at my local spots, where amateur riders are pushing their limits with far less face protection than is prudent. I've heard that previously the half lid trend was so we can see the face of the rider better, but with modern enduro helmets that are full of holes, this is hardly an issue anymore.

Crikey one of the most skilful riders......ever?
  • 28 3
He’s undoubtedly in top3 ever in the mix of speed and stoke radiation. Ratboy’s there, not sure who else blends sheer speed, raw stoke and goon style in such high concentration of each
  • 39 2
 @WAKIdesigns: Brendan Fairclough for sure
  • 41 1
I hear BigTim is definitely up there. I hear he once did a 10 meter wheelie and there was the time he hit 25 mph.... off road.
  • 10 10
 What ever happened to Randy?
  • 3 0
@bigtim: bigtim for the win wooooop
  • 19 0
@WAKIdesigns: Mitch Ropelato deserves a seat at this table.

Kerr is so much fun to watch ride and so much talent! I think that whole Pivot squad are all fantastic riders and personalities. Both Masters brothers are also riders with a broad and immense skill base so could be on that list.
  • 4 2
brandon semenuk is in there for sure semenuk fanboy flame suit on

I just made a stupid comment. According to stupid me, there are very few riders who are this stylish and this fast. Confirmed fast. Bernard, Brendog and Ratboy have goon style with plenty of radstoke points, while also having been on World Cup podiums. With following comments and nominations, It's hard ot not make it into a silly beauty pagent now where the potential Miss not only needs to be pretty enough give the audience hard ons, must be thin as fuk, but also needs to sing, have good views on transgender rights, situation in MIddle East and virginity of Jesus. I'm not done: non top of that according to recent trends she also needs to be fat, ugly, bisexual, go to mens bathroom and eat female ass. No matter how good they are, Mitch Ropelato, or Brandon Semenuk do not have these qualities! I may give you Eddie Masters though...

@WAKIdesigns: Did you not see the one about BigTim? I hear he once did a skid over 20 meters and can change a puncture in under half an hour.
  • 2 1
@bigtim: I saw a documentary about BigTim, he once fell a forest of trees from the wind generated during a whip. It generated enough wind it could have powered a small village for 3 weeks.

For a brand known for its precision, design and engineering, I love the fact that Pivot's videos are always so fun and ooze out stoke for riding. This one, the Firebird 29 with Ed Masters, Bernard on the Phoenix, Aaron Chase on the Les Fat, Ed Masters on the Les Fat... all so good! Thanks Pivot.
  • 6 0
I feel like their bike design lends itself to "fun" riding as much as fast riding.
  • 17 1
I am never going to be worried about my bike on my roof rack again after watching that opening scene.
  • 14 0
Love everything about this! Exactly what I needed first thing in the office.
  • 13 0
 This video has it all.

Whips, schralps, Loam and a mf’ing reliant robin!
  • 8 0
Yea and roosting not overdone, just a couple for good measure...
  • 12 0
Note to self: Buy a Reliant an go offroading.
  • 11 0
Watching this makes me appreciate Kerr but also it makes me wish Phil Atwill put out way way more
  • 12 3
The sickest riding.... but who can afford a Pivot these days. Must buy a Lotto ticket this week.
  • 3 2
Demoed a Trail 429 this summer and loved it but yea I'm not spending 5k on the base model.
  • 24 3
People with jobs? New housing developments pop up monthly around here with dozens of $400,000+ houses with $60,000+ cars in the driveway. I don't think a $7500 bike is a problem for them, their counter tops cost more.
  • 8 1
Maybe I need a change of career then and to get rid of my children. Then maybe, just maybe, I could justify so much money on a bike.
  • 5 0
@yupstate: money grows on trees in the worlds biggest economy.
  • 12 0
@JamieBrown52: If you want it, make it happn' capn'! Obviously to each their own. I know some riders who are super happy with their lifestyle, work 20-30hrs a week and can't afford a $7000 bike. I also know some that have two or three $7000 bikes and are arguably less happy! Whatever works.
  • 2 1
@jamesbrant: LOL, sometimes it seems that way. Obviously not for everyone, but there's no shortage of opportunity.
  • 8 1
@yupstate: just because people have things doesn't mean they can actually afford them. Unfortunately our culture(especially US), breeds "status" and image over actually living within ones means and not being deep in debt
  • 1 1
@jamesbrant: It's called credit cards, quite often
  • 4 1
*who can afford Supa Boost hub when you just bought yor Hydras??
  • 1 0
@yupstate: what’s one more payment I guess? You’re not wrong though.
  • 8 0
Mr Kerr oozes style and makes me want to ride, he does however, not make me want to drive.
  • 8 0
Only in mountain biking you'll see that your handlebar is worth more than your car.
  • 7 0
Most English video ever, I almost choked on my tea and crumpets and my bowler hat fell off laughing.
  • 4 0
It never ceases to amaze me what a good rider can do and get away with on a short travel bike! If I were jumping like that, in my mind, I'd need at least a 150mm bike before I'd even try it, for fear of "Pole-ing" my bike and breaking something. I also think that "short" travel numbers have changed from what it used to be. 120mm isn't a lot, but my first DH bike was shorter than that!
  • 7 0
This feels like a stop-gap until the new Switchblade drops. The Switchblade is your enduro-lite 29er.
  • 2 2
Cant wait to see the new switchblade. I sure hope they got ride of the sober boost plus, but I highly doubt it.
  • 6 0
If Neo had known of this Bernard dude, he would have dropped that martial arts nonsense straight away!
  • 5 0
It's easy to afford one of those... You bung it on a credit card that you never pay back and all that happens is a TV show pitch up at your gaff!! #wangit
  • 7 0
The real star of the video was that roof rack.
  • 2 0
Yea I was wincing when he bowls down that steep bank and the bike is rocking side to sode!
  • 7 1
Does Bernard Kerr ever not look happy?
  • 11 6
 Edibles...
  • 2 0
@WAKIdesigns: guess Pivot will also implement the SWAT stash box then soon
  • 1 4
@Upduro: I meant that edibles would tone him down Smile
  • 1 2
he didnt look too happy when he was on the tv show "cant pay"
  • 5 3
Too bad Pivot is still making weird build kit choices. Pivot please ditch the whole Padloc grip system. People want to make their own grip choices and since the bar is just 760mm to begin with customers will need to buy a new bar if they want to run grips of their own choice and proper bar width.
  • 4 0
 So good.
I'd buy a Pivot if you promise to churn out more videos of that quality for the next year Wink
  • 3 0
It's a good cause. Kerr and Masters never fail to disappoint on video.
  • 1 0
*I meant "never disappoint on video"
  • 4 0
Look - it holds a water bottle inside the frame. Let's make sure we point that out!
  • 4 1
I got the same bike, best bike period. The only thing I do not like is the superboost hub, expensive to replace and limited to industry nine...
  • 5 0
@doaway there are plenty of hub options out there in Superboost - any 157 DH hub will work. DT, Sram, and Shimano all make 157 superboost hubs. There are others that make them too, so not as expensive to replace the hub, or to build your own wheels as you think.

Vernon Felton over there at Specialized is makin’ ‘em too soft now. Still got to crack some heads to remind them who has got the hammer... Specialized already has the Enduro name on lock...what’s next, Epic Stumpjumping Mach 5... ‘Demo’ bikes... anarchy! Seriously though...why not just 429 Enduro...
  • 2 0
So looked like some really good trails in there & I am sure you could drive a Reliant Robin down a hill and make a really good trail, But not a truck!
  • 3 0
dude knows how to have fun.
  • 3 0
This is a bike that one could ride on a lunch break.
  • 2 0
 Do dentists get lunch breaks?
  • 1 0
wowza! love that video and that bike! now, to convince my wife i need to replace my current 429T "girlfriend" Patty Pivot, with a younger, burlier version.....
  • 2 0
Bernard is a beast of a rider and can punish any bike, but those trails are hardly a test for a stout build.
  • 3 0
WOW! Bernard RIPS! Beauty Bike..Beauty Car!
  • 2 0
This is almost exactly how I built my Ripley 4. So much fun! Just wish I could ride it like Bernard!
  • 3 0
Some nice riding. Why was such a car ever created though?
  • 4 0
70 mpg during a fuel crisis I think was it's main attraction.
  • 4 0
When Reliant made a 3 wheeled car, you could drive it on a motorcycle licence. Rolled one too.
  • 2 0
Had to take away a star because of no Bernard Kerr signature stoppie. 9/10 other than that.
  • 1 0
I think the unsung hero of the video is the bottle cage. I loose bottles sending it off a kerb. That thing must be tighter than a 1990s intense tyre.
  • 1 0
Can we talk about how perfect it is that mr nose manual drives a Reliant Robin? i think watching him hoon around in that was almost just as fun
  • 1 0
€4200 for the frame and crank!! I love Pivot but daym those Reliant Robbins cost some cash
  • 3 0
 That was frikken epic!
  • 4 2
Stamina is a considered a trail bike and this one is now a "Enduro" bike.
  • 3 1
Bernard is an absolute stallion and steeze master!!
  • 2 0
How did it become 140 mm all of a sudden?
  • 2 0
You've heard of downcountry, now get ready for trailduro
  • 2 0
I love how he just rips his car around
  • 2 0
Gotta love that straight up manuals
