The 2018 Ard Rock Enduro Festival will take place from August 3–5 and with an action-packed programme of riding, racing, live music and expos from the best brands on the mountain bike scene, it’s set to be an epic weekend. Entries go live at 0630 on Thursday 2nd November right here.

Set in the stunning Yorkshire Dales amphitheatre of Swaledale, with steep rocky hillsides rising all around, Ard Rock is legendary for its totally natural Alpine style trails that are marked out especially for the event. There are four Enduro events, catering for first time Ard Rock entrants to pro riders fresh from the Enduro World Series circuit. The Marathon category will also return in 2018 and take riders on an epic 40-mile tour of some of the best trails in the area.

I am neither a dentist nor an architect. I am a moderately poor rider on a mildly expensive bike. But I intend to go, so f@c& you all, you miserable pr!cks. Find something else to do on a weekend when you aren't competing for a podium place at the EWS and leave the rest of us who aren't pretending to be the next Sam HIll to have some fun with our mates.

Don't get me wrong,it's a great event, and the enduro is challenging, which is good. Its just that its evolved into something a lot of riders don't like, but the popularity of event proves,a lot people love how it's evolved now..Hope you get a place on the enduro,I know that can be a challenge in it's self.Good luck.

Just a hipster w/end away drinking kombucha , virgin packed coffee beans and a lot of tash twisting ! Not for me ! Smile

As an Architect with a degree in dentistry (from oxford), i'm planning on buying the event and only letting fellow architects and dentists compete. I'm tired of these moderately poor people getting in my way and getting caught up in my hand guards. Make mtb great again and just for people that can ride all the inside lines.

A great event, but not for me anymore,,, pitching experienced riders that are out to go as fast as possible next to slow first time riders is just stupid, and the danger of this was never so more evident as last year.... a great weekend event dut a victim of its own success

Is a beard, a T5 and and a Santa Cruz still compulsory?

Can't remember if there was a booking fee last year, but I remember it being £62. So, over a 10% increase. I've done it the last two years so I think I'll give it a miss and maybe do the Ard Moors if that is on. I've had early starts for the full endure and been lucky to avoid big queues.

I raced Ard Rock in 2016 and thoroughly enjoyed it, couldn't get tickets this year so went to Ard Moors instead but it was a washout so I didn't race. I don't think the Ard Moors course can handle rain so unless you can guarantee it will be dry then it could be a disappointment.

@DC1988: The same thing happened to me this past year. couldn't get tickets to Ard Rock so did Ard Moors and it was a bust. Ended up not racing since that course definitely can't handle rain and practice was absolute garbage.

How about a category for bikes over £5000 and then compare stage times.

It's a great event, but dam it's getting expensive to enter.Becoming an event for the elite.

Entered in 2016. Has the price gone up?? Wanting to do it again next year!

@Dav82: stopped doing it last year, because of the ever increasing cost.I know it's a big event and needs organising, but it is getting too expensive for the average Joe.ok for architects and dentists I suppose.A pal did I last year, said there was a lot of terrible riders on expensive bikes,

@jase111171: can't say I'm that shocked!! The price increase is frustrating but when you think bpw is 30 odd quid for a day then it's easier to swallow. Think there was way to many riders the year I did it, a lot of waiting around to start the timed sections. Wasn't helped by a 2 hour wait at stage 2 and another hour at stage 3. Just bunched everyone up and resulted in a mass start on stage 3 which was not fun!! Maybe limiting the numbers or spread the events out over more days.

£70 for a weekends racing on stages that can’t be ridden outside of the event. Aswell as entertainment, free bike parts (brake pads this year) free tubeless setup amongst other goodies. What more do you actually want for your money?! You want to get paid to turn up? Jeez, no pleasing some people. Thoroughly enjoyed this years event and will be attempting to get a place in the Enduro again for 2018. Roll on next year

@mk3gt: Agreed, i made the entry fee back in cheap parts, servicing and gear! If you care about that sort of thing....

@Dav82: I got tempted to enter the Saturday race purely to try and miss some of the slower riders, which can get stressful but then i thought I'm not gonna win, just enjoy it and have a laugh doing it with your mates.

@mk3gt: if your offering to pay for me that'd be great!!lol! I'm entering regardless of price cos even though I suffered badly, the buzz I got afterwards was unreal!!! Looking forward to it!

@poppagee: I did the Sunday in 2016. I'm afraid I was one of the slow ones......
Going for the Sunday one again!
