My wife's appendix situation was similar. She did the same, just worked through the pain for a few days before it was clear the ER was the only choice. Turns out she was septic from the rupture and there was a moment when the doctors said that they'd done what they could do and were waiting for the medication to work. Pretty harrowing to get that sort of report while holding a 1 year old baby. Thankfully everything turned out alright.

People sure are sore about IMBA not supporting the Wilderness area bicycle ban reversal. Just IMO, but there is very, very little 'leave no trace' when it comes to modern mountain biking and trail building. This became readily apparent riding trails that I helped build in the early 2000s versus trail systems that have been built in the last few years. Wide trails, cutting down a lot of trees, building features, fitting as much mileage in a footprint as possible, etc seems to be the name of the game around here. I'd hate to see that thinking way happen at a wilderness area like Dolly Sods here in WV. That said, with the boost in popularity that the Sods 'enjoys' today, I'm not sure that the hoard won't ruin it anyway.

@SterlingArcher: These guys aren't GC contenders either. He was saying that this wheelie contest was missing the best stunt riders (VdP and Sagan).

They exist because decent welders can build them with pretty basic manufacturing processes. If aluminum or carbon were as inexpensive to make in a one off fashion, I imagine that we would barely see steel frames.

I like the idea of a TT start. If you catch the person ahead of you, you are clearly faster and they should let you around. Same goes if you get caught. The only big downside I see is potentially starting late and the course drastically changing as 200 tires hit it before you get your chance (especially in wet races). We used to run a local group TT and it was a blast. 10-15 of us would run a quick 20 minute sprint course with TT start and then do a group ride afterward.

@tunnel-vision: I just started watching this week. What a race! Really enjoyed the coverage and I’ll be watching a lot more in the future. Great ride by HA and great coverage by RB.
