PRESS RELEASE: Cascadia Dirt CupOver the last six years, the Cascadia Dirt Cup (CDC) has made a donation after each race to the local trail organizations that build and maintain the trails we race on.
On June 9th at the Capitol Forest Enduro, just outside of Olympia, Washington, the CDC stopped for round three of the 2018 series, and as is CDC custom, made a $5,000 donation to the Friends of Capitol Forest during the awards ceremony. But this race was beyond customary. We were in Olympia right where the CDC began, yet we were racing on brand new trails we've never been on.
Capitol Forest's new North Slope trails were debuted at this event with our group being the first ever to race them. It was a privilege to do so, and when we handed that check to the Friends of Capitol Forest, the CDC eclipsed $100,000 in total donations to local trail groups around the Pacific Northwest since inception. It was an incredible moment to showcase these amazing trails and share them with our racers, and to recognize the relentless time, energy and hard work that goes into bringing new trails to fruition.
It was rewarding to do so back where it all began, to see things come full circle for the CDC, while also reflecting on how far we've taken the series and the support for trails rippling across Cascadia through its existence. We are grateful to all of our racers, volunteers, trail groups, sponsors and family and friends who support the CDC and have helped us reach this milestone. This energy and excitement reinforces our mission to keep putting on great races and supporting our region's world-class trials. Let's keep the momentum going, here's to Cascadia and the next $100,000 to trails.
