PRESS RELEASE: Cascadia Dirt Cup

Over the last six years, the Cascadia Dirt Cup (CDC) has made a donation after each race to the local trail organizations that build and maintain the trails we race on.

On June 9th at the Capitol Forest Enduro, just outside of Olympia, Washington, the CDC stopped for round three of the 2018 series, and as is CDC custom, made a $5,000 donation to the Friends of Capitol Forest during the awards ceremony. But this race was beyond customary. We were in Olympia right where the CDC began, yet we were racing on brand new trails we've never been on.

Capitol Forest's new North Slope trails were debuted at this event with our group being the first ever to race them. It was a privilege to do so, and when we handed that check to the Friends of Capitol Forest, the CDC eclipsed $100,000 in total donations to local trail groups around the Pacific Northwest since inception. It was an incredible moment to showcase these amazing trails and share them with our racers, and to recognize the relentless time, energy and hard work that goes into bringing new trails to fruition.

It was rewarding to do so back where it all began, to see things come full circle for the CDC, while also reflecting on how far we've taken the series and the support for trails rippling across Cascadia through its existence. We are grateful to all of our racers, volunteers, trail groups, sponsors and family and friends who support the CDC and have helped us reach this milestone. This energy and excitement reinforces our mission to keep putting on great races and supporting our region's world-class trials. Let's keep the momentum going, here's to Cascadia and the next $100,000 to trails.

Thanks CDC for creating one more reason to support a race series. Thanks for putting back into the trails used for racing. Great to know that a race series actually helps to make the trails more obtainable, and kept for the recreational riders.

And in the city of Seattle it cost 12 million to put in a bike lane! Imagine what a trail building group could do with that kind of money in Washington State Forests. Cascade bicycle club, Seattle politicians, & corrupt contractors = evil.

It's $12,000,000 for ONE MILE! At $2,300 per foot we could definitely do some damage!

North Slope trails are legit, those dudes deserve 10K for building such cool lines

Hit them not long after they opened, wish there was a way to get off the road sections between the rowdy fun in the trees. Coming out onto a gravel service road and losing 100' of ele on a 1/4 mile kinda takes the wind out of the sails

@swartzie: It's in the works. Had to get the gravel pit area officially closed first. That's happened now, so stay tuned.
