 I have had a Rotor bb on my turbine cranks for 3 years with no issues. On the other end, the aeffect cranks preload is pretty weak and results in shorter bb life - i have it on another bike and i already change it twice.

 @crisotop: hope has oversized external bearings, most companies use the same outer diameter as for 24mm spindles. If you run pressift with 30mm spindle even quality Hope bearings won’t help you.

 Wheels Mfg 30mm angular contact bearing BBs are great! I have two for my threaded BBs.

 @rpinciuc: I tried angular contact bearings once (Enduro) and they didn't last any longuer than a standard Shimano XT bottom bracket. Still better than the Race Face BSA 30mm ones but clearly not worth the higher price tag.

 Just swap the bearings (not the cups) for SKF ones and you bb will last way longer.

 @lRaphl: XT BBs are pretty great compared to raceface 30mm BBs so that's not bad performance. Wheels Mfg are comparatively expensive though. But at least you CAN buy a decent 30mm BB. Some people don't think it's possible.

 @AllenM: My external one as well. The saddle has a bit more play than some other options, but on par with a Transfer for example. I think the internals are the same for the posts from Pro and OneUp and some others...

 Hopefully the 170mm cranks don't have an extra 5-10mm hanging off the end beyond the pedal. The previous Aeffect 170s are obviously the same forging as the 175 (maybe even the 180) with just the hole drilled and tapped at a different length.

All of which means that even with a 170mm effective crank length that's nice to my knees and gives more pedal to ground clearance, you can still smash the very long crank itself into rocks, and that's pretty stupid.

 And OEM customers like Rocky Mountain knowingly spec'd these on many bikes? Hopefully those were all 175mm, as that would be less deceptive. Thanks for the heads up.

 Hey there! For clarification. The Aeffect R cranks are optimized 170 and 165mm length cranks.Forged to those lengths with the pedal hole drilled in the 'standard' placement for the length of arm. There will be ZERO extra material at the ends of these Aeffect R crankarms.

 To be clear both the Aeffect 170mm and 165mm have trimmed ends - no extra material at the end of the crank.

 @raceface: that's good to know. As I was pretty peeved when I got my previous gen Aeffect cranks and found they were 175 with the hole drilled further onboard.

 @raceface: Bullshit! I just got an Aeffect R 170mm, and there is 14-15mm from the end of the crank to the spindle hole. Exactly the same as the plain Aeffect 170mm and the Ride 170mm, and def more (at least 5mm, maybe more in fact!) than any other 175mm I've seen.

This is ridiculous. Does RaceFace make a 24mm spindle crank that actually uses different castings for different lengths? And please don't tell me to look at Turbine or something else 30mm and expensive... because I would already be there, except that my frame (Commencal Meta SX) can only fit 24mm spindles because of internal BB shell clearances.

I'll be returning my Aeffect Rs, and grinding my plain Aeffects down. Then when my current Cinch chainring needs replacing, I'm going to Shimano cranks. That 5+mm of clearance is too important, and it doesn't help that RaceFace is being cheap (I'd pay more than the current Aeffect R price if they had less overhang) and then lying about it.

 @just6979: I know this is old, but just to clarify... SRAM appears to do exactly the same thing. In your pics you compared a 175mm Stylo crank to the RF ones, but if you had compared that 175 Stylo to a 170 Stylo, you will see that they do exactly the same thing as Race Face. I can't say the same thing for Shimano as I could not find any to compare.

 @motopsycho: Yes, but RaceFace _told me_ they weren't doing the re-drill thing.

However, they did eventually change the Aeffect R cranks to actually use a different casting. I returned the ones in the pic and now I have 170s with a small enough overhang that Specialized Boomslang pedals' bearing bulge actually sticks out further.

I do have a Shimano 172.5 set and the overhang looks comparable to the Stylo 175 _and the new RF 170.

 Been running the 170mm OneUp for more than year now. Have just done one "Service", just greased it and put some more air in it. Rock solid.

 I have a OneUp, wouldn't recommend it. Have serviced it weekly and had to add air every 2 weeks or so. Has a sticky spot that is a pain. My PNW is 3 years old as smooth as day 1.

 Given that the OneUp is a modified version of the Brand X, I would just go with Brand X and save some $$ unless you want to be able to adjust the drop with OneUp shims

 My oneup v1 gets "stuck" at the top of the travel and I have to really sit on it hard to get it to go down. It doesn't always break free immediately, which is bad when you need to drop the seat on a trail. My next dropper will be a different brand.

 @chriskneeland: 110% yes. Unless you need a more compact post, then OneUp. Can get a post plus rebuild kit and spare cartridge for basically same price as a transfer, and it'll still last a good long time anyway.

 I've got a V1 OneUp 150 31.6. After it sits a while the first actuation is sticky, but otherwise it returns/extends smoothly & quickly @250psi, which is the most important aspect (to me). Compressing it takes a decent amount of force if you're not centered on the post. So I don't know if I need to reduce the pressure or what. The seat collar is torqued as low as it can go without slipping, using carbon/assy paste. It actuates the same with the collar torqued higher as well so probably not the issue. My post also developed some rotational play (3-4mm at the seat front), but that doesn't bother me. She's hooked to a Wolftooth Light Action Remote. All in all I like it, especially for the fast extension. I've done nothing to it and it's been 100% reliable. Getting it on sale was a bonus. I have about 50kft descending 35kft ascending so far this year.

 PNW. I have both and the oneup has a sticky spot on it which is quite annoying. PNW is always buttery smooth. I even put fork boost on the oneup every time I clean my bike and it get slight better but goes to ass town real quick.

 Obligatory "you haven't experienced dropper post bliss until you've ridden the bikeyoke revive" post. It's so much better than the oneup and the transfer I also own.

 I recently ordered v1 dropper from OneUp as it was on a discount. Received it with a huge bushing play when at full extension, was really hard to compress when in saddle due to this. Since i ordered on some german site, i had to deal with them for warranty issues. They were kind to replace it with v2 dropper for the price of v1. When i was still waiting for the new dropper to arrive, i still used the new v2 remote. I have had i minor crash and snapped the barrel adjuster (so easy), thats ok, replaceable. Now i received the v2 dropper and IT HAS THE SAME BUSHING PLAY, this is so annoying i am trying to get a working dropper from them without a play since June. Please hear me ONEUP.

All that meanwhile time, i was riding with my stock 125mm RF Aeffect post, which i wish was just at least 150mm. Wanting to get a refund and buy another RF post with bigger drop...

 @onemanarmy: cuz moar for same money is always betters, even if the saddle goes below the top of the rear tyre and the first time you will ride over a bigger rock on a steep shute your starfish will learn what WT means

 @onemanarmy: I’m 6ft even and the 210 has been really nice on steeper technical trails. Liking it a lot more than 170 and when compared to a medium or small frame my max drop now puts the seat in the same height in relation to my bars as theirs whereas before the seat was alway higher than the bars.

 @jordanrh: I had this problem too, turns out the top bushing had gone bad. Contact OneUp and they can get you a replacement. The new one is much better, seems to have addressed the issue.

 OneUp for sure. Their customer service is fantastic and they are good people up there that are legit riders and aren't Corp shills.

I've had the v1 170mm and have the v2 210mm (I'm 6-4). The v1 was pretty good for the money. I had a the issue with the post not extending fully but the new IGUS bushing has seemingly fixed it. Might need some grease once in a while but that is literally a 60sec NoTool thing. I still like the v1 but wanted the 210mm. But you will buy the v2 anyways which is pretty damn nice for the price!

Get it with the free 2.1 actuator which uses the cable instead of housing, making it smoother to press the lever (grease actuator on install btw). The post is great so far and comes up quick at 275 psi with no stiction. Also I dont have to un-weight the v2 to actuate it either (maybe that's part of the 2.1 actuator too) which was a welcomed surprise. Its nice, real nice. And it's not a tank like the brandX stuff and is a shorter size with more length AND it comes with the ability to reduce travel by 10 to 20mm using metal shims...which cant be understated when you are going long! It's very nice and done by very good people that have done nothing but treat me and others well. I literally see the owner working with people on forums and via email etc. Good stuff!!

 That's pretty much what most would have said about about the Affect non-R. That it was just another Brand-x or X-trans post. But it in fact has different internals.

 @privateer-wbc: That is a non-serviceable cartridge. A killer suspension mechanic was able to disassemble and reassemble but no available seal/rebuild kit = non-servicable. This is the same cartridge/post as Brand-X etc.

 Good idea. Keep releasing new products but never respond to any of your customers emails or messages or sell your small parts anywhere. I guess the whole "just buy a new one" is the business model for RaceFace.

 Same dropper as TranzX, Brand X, Cube. Only difference is those ones come with a lever!

 I like this crank. It allows cheaper and Identical 24mm bearings for my wheels manufacturing screw together BB (like Shimano) with steel direct mount chainrings (like SRAM). Best of both worlds in my view.
