bigquotesNot many athletes can say that they get to race in front of their own home, so it is really special to me to race here, on the trail where I grew up, so to say. I used to watch my idols race there and now I’m right in the middle of the action. Of course, I have a score to settle with the track, as the last two times I raced there, things didn’t go my way. I know I have what it takes to win on that track, but there are always so many things that influence a race run. Third time’s the charm, right?2021 World Cup Overall Winner Vali Höll

Apart from the World Cup action, there is plenty more in store for visitors. The Expo Area will feature the cream of the crop of the bike world and the Team Area is always a hot ticket item, offering the 20.000 mountain bike fans that are expected a look behind the scenes of a World Cup stop, giving them a look in the pits and offering the chance to look over the shoulder of their favorite athletes as they prepare to give it their all on the track. A packed schedule of side events guarantees fun and suspense throughout the entire weekend. Both areas are open to the public and fans can visit from 12:00 – 20:00 on Friday, 10:00 – 20:00 on Saturday and 09:30 – 17:00 on Sunday.

Wasn't it a double header when we had TWO DH races in one week time span last year?
  • 35 0
Yes. This is a regular WC weekend.

Double headers were Fun, so now more.
  • 2 0
 No more.

They're probably hoping that if they stick an exciting event in the middle of boring events then there will be a better turn out.

@poundsand: Have you watched many XCO races recently? The racing and courses are great.
  • 5 2
@poundsand: The XCO events are much more popular than the DH events, both in attendance and media (Red Bull TV) viewership.

You can't invent the term 'double header' to mean 2 DH races in a week and then use it to describe a regular world cup weekend. I'm easily confused by things like that.

Your probably easily confused because your English but I agree with you

Good that it's actually not a double header; many DH racers don't like the Leogang's track.

Valis already won the 2022 overall I see

it's all staged, kinda like wrestling I guess.

How much does it cost to get “Best Downhill World Cup venue 2021”? There's a bikepath through my local dogwalking park I'd like to promote.

You need a platinum subscription for that.

There really needs to be some April/May races to fill the gaps. It's just too long.
  • 2 0
A lot of these venues, being european, are questionable in spring. Which is why Lourdes was considered "early" this year and everybody was pissing their pants about potential rain... Even though it ended up super dusty.

Also... Fort Bill will be in May, so aside from nothing in april I'm not sure what you mean.
  • 2 0
@lepigpen: Opps, forgot about FT. Bill. Still, it's quite a gap between the two.
  • 3 0
 @lepigpen: Southern Hemisphere, then.
  • 4 0
The 8 week gap in DH is notably long, probably difficult to peak for the season properly. I would not be surprised if some folks that started off strong at Lourdes struggle in the last part of the season.

should add races in Japan and NZ

 what about xc fantasy league?)))
  • 5 2
It's dead without explanation, they removed the "coming soon" link from the fantasy league page Frown

@rarerider: Erm…no, they haven‘t. For me it still sais „ 2022 Fantasy coming soon.“

I hear a new version might be in beta testing, but that knowledge is outside my pay grade. Certainly would be a + is they brought it back.

I hope I will be proved wrong, but I think this will be the last WC in Leogang for a while, so I will try to be there this year. Red Bull probably had a big influance on Leogang having a fix place in the DH calendar, so with RB leaving I expect Leogang to leave as well.

I’m curious who voted Leogang the best World Cup venue
