Aaron Gwin is the best Enduro racer of all times, won a DH race riding blind.
  • 10 10
You make my day with that comment Sir :-D
  • 116 1
And he's got magic goggles that reappear on his neck after throwing them into the crowd. Not really surprising, though.
  • 45 5
@Ohlalaa: it's good to take him on a group ride for he can multiply energy bars as tubes. He can also turn water into Redbull
  • 6 1
@Ohlalaa: I saw that too and I wonder if the sponsor put another pair on his shoulder right away, you know it's all about visibility!
  • 5 1
@Ohlalaa: this magic goggles works only if you sponsored, the only time ull spot a pro rider with clean goggles hanging over the neck with the logo sticking out is on big races
  • 6 3
Sam Hill and Danny Hart have had some monster runs in the ran also... I didn't think Aaron had one of those runs in him. He was on a mission, good for him. Only 33 points out now..

 @mbiker35:
What struck me with Danny after crossing the line in MSA last sunday was the contrast to reaction of Sam after crossing the line in Champery in the rain. Danny was happy, despite not winning, he knew he did an amazing thing. Now if you go back to the vid from Champery, you could see that Sam stands in the middle of the finish arena pissed off that he didn't win while everyone is fkng mindblown with his run. That I thought was pure racing spirit. Nothing but win matters, regardless of circumstances. His infamous run from Val Di Sole was kind of similar. Such crash and he goes third.

But you can't take anything from
Gwinny, it was like Danny's World Champ run from Champery, too good to be true. And Gwinny has already 2 of these.
  • 6 1
@WAKIdesigns: dude, Sam fell off his bike, you'd be annoyed too.
  • 3 1
@WAKIdesigns: Sam's reaction has got to have more to do with knowing a mistake cost him a win. Last weekend, Danny probably felt he had the best run he could have, and it was a damn good one.
  • 4 1
 3:21 minaar is a beast
  • 1 1
 wut
  • 2 1
@WAKIdesigns: I am McLuvin this whole season of racing, WC and EWS.
And I like Sam and Aaron's chances on the over all championships, with the knarly mountains they will both be competing on.. Plays right into their hands with their rock out with your cock out riding styles.

@WAKIdesigns: I logged in to upvote this comment. Haven't logged in for years.
  • 1 0
@WAKIdesigns: Keep in mind, Matti stopped for 20 seconds in quails in Champery to avoid riding in the rain. He played 'the game' perfect.
He didn't win the qualifier by 15 seconds like Sam did

I think Graeme Mudd nearly died at 2:25!
  • 11 0
Talk about a scary moment. My heart almost exploded and I was just watching it on a phone. He must have needed a new pair of shorts after that.
  • 4 0
Neko Mullaly slid off that a few years ago. horrific
  • 4 0
Hipped drop offs into a corner are fkng terryfing in the dry at low speeds on my local trails. Get your timing wrong for front wheel compression and pick up before the lip and you land on your face. I ate sht enough times off a bloody wet root. This at MSA is like 10x size and speed.
  • 1 0
@WAKIdesigns: yea dude, its definitely burly and definitely a skill. Even practicing off 6 inch drops will end badly if you slide before you take off.
  • 1 0
Didnt he do that in Fort Bill too.....
  • 1 0
@lincoln3: Neko slid out on a few corners there if I remember right. like right after the road gap
  • 19 0
Don't think this Highlights vid really did this race justice at all. I could have done with a narrator or someone explaining what happened rather than a few random shots of different people. The Women's highlights at the beginning were particularly rubbish considering how sick the actual event was.
  • 31 0
Did they not show Rachel's save which should be one of the highlights of this race, but instead they show Gee adjusting his goggles for 10 seconds.
  • 8 0
@theboaz: no shit! what a save...
  • 22 1
@theboaz: DID ANY OF YOU SEE how well Gee was adjusting those goggles though? I mean it was simply incredible. Huge props to Gee on that performance, I don't think I've ever seen someone adjust their goggles quite like he did.
  • 2 0
@ryanandrewrogers: Somehow I missed it. What hour/minute of the feed?
  • 3 0
For sure. EWS is killing it with the highlight/recap vids. This DH coverage is bush league in comparison, though it is nice to have a live feed.
  • 1 0
@scvkurt03: I've only watched a couple of those EWS recaps. They're really long, but only to me because Enduro races don't interest me.

Now if they'd actually do a wrap up report like that with post race insights and video feed from RedBull like what was in the above video (angles we didn't see in the live feed, etc), I would watch every second every time.

VitalMTB kills it with their post race recap, but they don't have the added benefit of the extra video footage that RedBull does. Maybe RedBull should contract @vitalmtb @Svenmartin and @Maddogboris to do a full recap show and splice it with their footage. Sven and Boris get the most candid and honest responses from the racers, especially Sven since he's a former racer.

I love Gwins magic Smith goggles. Throws them in the crowd but somehow they end up back around his neck.
  • 1 0
I bet they didn't make it into the crowd. I thought the same thing lol
  • 1 0
Its funny, I know he had a problem with the tear-off roller, tossed them with some flare, yet they returned
  • 1 0
@jamesb78092: such is the gravity of Gwin. Van der Vaal's power of attraction!
  • 18 2
WynTV - where are you? we miss you!
  • 9 1
I'm amazed by how many top pros QUIT in the gate. Hart, Minnarr, Gwin, Brosnan, Moir & Brosnan acted like there was a race when they started. Everybody else came out of the gate like they had already lost it all. The body language of some of the world's most ELITE riders was very disappointing.

You don't have to be up for everything, but you gotta be up for this one thing of all things.
  • 12 3
Anyone see Minnaar smashing his lid chin bar into his stem? 29ers too big for even him?
  • 25 1
You do realize his arms don't get shorter with bigger wheels?
  • 1 0
He really works his bike positioning to the limit I guess
  • 6 0
At 3:34 it looks like Gwin's jersey doesn't have the US champ sleeve, but then at 3:39 it's back. Am I confusing two different riders, or is there some kind of tricky perspective going on?
  • 2 0
Good catch. Also noticed something odd with the spectators and the track, there is not rain! it looks like they edited that part of the video using Aaron's run at qualifications.
  • 6 0
Wow. Fake rain and all. Good catch indeed!
  • 1 0
Maybe his sleeve was a tear off
  • 8 0
guess everyones gonna be buying onza tires now
  • 11 3
Not until they make it in 29".
  • 2 0
gwin really does prove that its......

" win on sunday, sell on monday......."

well worth his salaries for sure.....

you know how many tires and bikes the dude just sold this weekend?

tons...............too easy.

gwin is boss.

 Good lad
  • 1 0
Does anyone know where the UCI standings are shown? (Position in championship by points)? I can't seem to find it
  • 4 0
So since Minnaar is 33 points ahead of Gwin, if he get's 1st in Quali's and Gwin get's 2nd, that'll put him up 43 points. Then, even if Gwin wins and Minnaar gets 2nd, Minnaar will still win the overall by 3 points (203 vs 200). But if Minnaar gets 3rd or worse and Gwin wins, Gwin wins the overall.

Of course, there are several scenarios that could play out, but that would make for one hell of a race. Can't wait til Val di Sole!
  • 2 0
@lobohusky: Kind of cool to play out scenarios, but this is by no means a two horse race. Danny, Troy, Loic all have the speed to take a win and/or finish ahead of them. With these guys pressing hard to win, they'll both be willing to take risks, and either one or both of them can make a mistake. Will be a really fun race to watch, for sure.
  • 2 0
@scvkurt03: That's a great point and I think all 3 showed how much they want it with their top 6 finishes at MSA in those conditions. Jack Moir too. But I think it all comes down to Greg (932), Aaron (899) and Troy (855) for the overall championship. Danny's in 4th with 641, so him, Loic, Jack and the rest can get the win and perhaps spoil the others' hopes for a 'ship, but can't take the overall themselves. Either way, I agree that it should be one heck of an exciting race Smile
  • 2 0
@lobohusky: Who knows, maybe Minnaar AND Gwin will fly off the track and get a DSQ.
  • 5 0
To clear the magic goggles up. He threw them and they landed in the gravel finish area but out of reach for all of us. Then the uci dude quickly ran up, grabbed them and gave them back to him.
  • 7 0
Minnaar chinguard to stem before his big huck @ 1:16 ... yikes
  • 7 0
 Yep. More like @3:16
  • 2 0
That huck! And in the wet... wow
  • 6 1
Gwin said "I dont know what I was running over, but I was blinded, I just did the best I could dude!" ????
Funny stuff, well said.
  • 3 0
Ho Ly Shit! How awesome was that! The crowd went bonkers when Gwin showed up on the last stretch still in the lead! So great...looking forward to the next one!
  • 4 0
 Awesome back ground music
  • 3 0
When the rain started it let the wind out of my party sail, run after run with no green lights. Man that finish though
  • 1 0
I am not a downhill guru by any stretch. Finn Iles seems to be destroying everyone in the junior category. How will he actually do when he moves up and when does tha happen?
  • 1 0
According to the UCI website he is ranked 33 overall.
  • 2 0
Hearing his story makes his run that much more insane. Pretty much rode everything blind!
  • 2 0
Does anyone know if Minnaar got disqualified? I know there was talk about it?
  • 3 0
I think he went off track....and came back in a different spot, said something about taking a tumble and his bike rolling down a hill off track
  • 1 0
Yes he got DQ'ed. Check the VitalMTB recap for his explanation.
  • 2 0
So what exactly happened to Minnaar at that top that made him lose 20 seconds??
  • 2 0
Did he just say, he was getting rear brake fade because he hadn't touched them in awhile??
  • 1 0
Gwins actually a gun, like it wasnt as if it was jus raining, sounds like there wasnt much was going his way at all
  • 2 0
"Riding one eye thru the woods..." damn Gwin
  • 2 0
I think Gee's Redbull helmet looks pretty rad.
  • 1 0
A visor extender? Wonder where you get those Smile
  • 2 0
@jamesb78092: I was looking more at the paint job. didn't really notice the extender. Pretty sure you could get those at Home Depot or Lowes. Razz
  • 1 0
 @jojotherider1977: vernon zing!

love it.
  • 1 0
cool video. i would prefer a bit less of gee learning to wear goggles and more riding but to each their own
  • 1 0
Minnars gap in the woods, and in the wet!, was awesome. Any word on if he won his protest about being DQ'd?
  • 1 0
In fact that was in the dry, because it was in qualification. They add the rain in the video : look at the spectators in shirts. Wink
  • 1 0
Gives me goose bumps this guy.
  • 1 0
 Gwin is a freaking MONSTER!!!!!!!
  • 2 1
Does anyone have a link to the latest series points standings?
  • 1 0
Greg took a dinger to the chin..
  • 1 0
anyone know why manon didnt race??
  • 1 0
 Delhi belly
  • 1 0
But wait, where is Manon? Does anyone know what happened to her?
  • 1 0
She did not race due to being ill.
