You guys are absolutely killin' it... these videos are a thing of beauty. So much hard work and vision goes into making every one of these edits, Semenuk, Rupert, the whole team involved, everyone is killin it... damn. Watched this one 3 times already, I'm shook and woke.

I hate to disagree with you. I know it will be unpopular. My first thought was YAWN. Didn't make it past the intro. Give us something different please!

@jaame: my today trolling is to agree with people who like whatever this review is about... oh it's not a review... Ah yeah, scrolled to comments a bit too quickly. Bravo Brandon and Rupert, and everyone involved.

@WAKIdesigns: I'm sure the video was great. Lots of aerial slow mos, roost, and close up shots of a back wheel with the freewheel clicking sound. Original!
  • 17 12
@jaame: I first had the same thought. Fortunately I was scooping oatmeal into the mouth and couldn't be bothered to skip the intro. Gets very good after the intro and very little slowmo overall.

@jaame: You consistantly post a lot of crap on this board, mainly completely opinionated drivel absent of any kind of fact.

You are of course entitled to your own opinion on anything you wish but yet again you make youreslf look like a complete turd as you give your opinion out before even watching the video.

@jaame: Please define different. I think your expectations maybe out of touch with reality. Are you expecting him to do backflips while making a peanut butter sandwich in mid air...land smoothly with a one handed manual while taking a bite out of his sandwich?

Nah, it's not that you have too high of expectations it's because you have very low self esteem and whatever makes you jealous turns on a switch in your brain to "hate" it. In other words you're completely jealous. hahaha

Of course these negative opinions are fine all, but it makes me wonder what these guys are thinking when they watch a video like this. If you're a rider trying to improve, which I think most of us are, then I can't imagine watching someone this smooth and with this level of bike control and thinking this is boring. My thoughts are first- how does he do it, and second- how can I move one baby step closer to that. So I'm fascinated by it. Have these negative comment guys given up on improving?
  • 5 8
@fpmd: more along the lines of anyone who is the least bit involved in any aspect of this sport is well aware of what semenuk brings to the table. Hes mtb royalty. I improve by actually riding my bike. Pushing myself to ride stuff that mentally intimidates me. Watching semenuk throw 360 fakie whips isnt improving your game. Im not neg commenting the video. Im just saying im already well aware of what this dude is capable of. I think videographers keep things in the realm of normal too often. Make some weird shit. Yeah people wont like it. But some people wont like whatever it is you’re ever doing. Big deal
  • 6 5
@pargolf8: I don’t agree. guys like him are definitely inspiring and make people feel: hmmm I can do it myself! I remember watching NWD and backflip felt like the pinnacle of human achievement on a bicycle. I also remember not so long ago an article on Pinkbike “X dude pulls first flare on a MTB”. Guess what, yesterday there were 3 dudes in the skatepark pulling flares as if it was nothing

@WAKIdesigns: i agree dude but they didnt learn that flare by watching vids. They learned it by busting their ass 100 times then cleaning it for life. Ok im leaving the internets. Im confident you’ll be here troll...er...waiting when im back from real life Smile

@pargolf8: He's doing a lot more than tricks. What he's doing between them is just as impressive. He's as smooth a rider as you'll ever see, and any rider can improve by being smoother. Yeah, I'd rather be out riding, but I had leg surgery two days ago, so instead I'm here in bed commenting on pinkbike, which reminds me of what the great Stephen King said, "sometimes death is better." Have fun, I'm jealous.

@bohns1: I did my research, I don’t care about your juiced gurus selling supplements. BCAAs are present almost everywhere and there is no evidence that increasing intake of those particular amino acids does anything more than prevent/ minimize muscle degeneration while working out in fasting state. And if you do harder work outs for mtb in fasted state then good luck dummy. Stick to your gurus. A guy training Olympians in Boulder told me that gym is a waste of time for amateurs. What ahould make me think your guys are as clueless as he is?

@bohns1: if you deal with life by calling others idiots it’s your problem. But did you actually get into those research papers? Did you study them beyond : athlete given BCAA supplement (what sort) it works (how), I buy? Because I did, like a few others. You do realize that 99.9% of whey powders contain BCAAs? Next time you go to a shop please check the labels and then tell people to supplement BCAA, because everyone pretty much does. Even hemp protein has it... so you may as well advise me to buy a bicycle with hubs.
  • 1 1
@WAKIdesigns: omg dude.. Do u not recall me telling you that I purchase my protein powders with bcaa's included.. I also take an Intrumascular version in my pre workout.. Study the papers? U serious? I've read countless... First you argue that bcaa has no added benefit.. Now u try to make a case that they are in most protein powders.. Hahaha, that's not the point I was making dude.. Stay on topic brah! I didn't call u an idiot... I called u dumb.. Just as u called me a dummy... ???? Either way your trolling and reading comprehension does not prove u otherwise! Again Wacko, I'm not advising you to do anything.. As previously stated, keep doing what your doing and I'll do me.. Just don't spew uneducated information and falsify facts of what a good bcaa combo can actually do for an athlete! It doesn't matter what form it comes in..
  • 1 2
I like to take protein with BCAAs and straight BCAAs on different days to keep the body guessing. Whatever the weather, most of your calories and protein should come from real food. I've been looking into getting on the juice actually, but the hair loss puts me off. 3000-5000 hair follicles die every cycle, apparently. That's a big price to pay for bigger pipes.
  • 1 0
@jaame: surely this is an attempt at a windup?
  • 1 0
@jaame: Dowse some finasteride with your cycle and you'll be good to go! Just don't let that estrogen get out of control.. Or you'll be riding your bike with a bra! ????
  • 1 2
@bohns1: I've already been on Finasteride for eight years. I don't want to risk more hair loss. I'm pretty vain. Better to wait until after I go bald... then hit the juice.

@jaame: if you work on your strength and cardio right, then watch what you eat and how much you eat, good looks just happen to you. Even I had beginnings of six pack, i mean I had it if I tensioned my muscles right. But as a husband and father of two small kids I’m not willing to push through sub 15% body fat. Fir most people, by that point nutrition becomes your second job. Calisthenics is one of the best ways to achieve amazing body while gaining actual immense strength which is useful for tinder as well as MTB. But taking body building as a prerequisite... let’s take Yoann Barelli - if he went to a pool party in swim shorts he’d get almost any girl he wants as long as she is in favorable time of the month. And he can do a lot with his body. But I genuinely pity dudes who decide they will invest plenty of time and money to look like that. Just go Hugh Jackman, juice yourself up.
  • 3 2
@WAKIdesigns: dude did you just say “as long as she’s in favorable time of month”?

  • 1 0
@WAKIdesigns: I take it all dude! And Rep hard!
  • 1 0
@bohns1: In this particular case WAKIdesign's is correct. BCAAs do help prevent muscle deterioration when the body is in a constant caloric deficit called a "Catabolic" state. Do you need BCAA's? Well, depends on your diet, how much you weigh and your own body's genetics. BCAA's are in things like beef, chicken and seafood. Like, really it's hard NOT to get BCAA's if you're a meat eater.
  • 1 0
@bohns1: This article helps prove WAKIdesign's comment.
  • 1 0
@LiquidSpin: If your eating a shit ton of meat perhaps! But intramuscular bcaa during a brutal workout is an awesome aid in protein synthesis.. Same could be said about creatine and meat.. But you'd need to eat a crap load of red to get the correct dosages of 5 to 10 grams! Either way the glutamine/bcaa /creatine stack has added ample results to my regiment.. That being said it also depends on what your workout routine is in relation to goals!
  • 1 0
@bohns1: if you actually read stuff from various sources (not snake oil dealers) you will find info that BCAA only supplements are useful almost exclusively for people on caloric deficit and those who are fasting (which defies the purpose since BCAA break fast like almost anything, including chewing gum). Unlike BCAA there are many studies saying that creatine promotes building muscle. So bcaas are for maintenance while creatine is for growth. Considering how easy it is to over train for mtb specific training, I try to stay away from playing dice with too much caloric deficit. All it takes is two weeks of going a bit too hard with workout and sprints, one long ride with too much intensity and you can throw a month or more of progress into the garbage. I’d rather progress a bit slower than go through overtraining again, digging myself out of that crap. Getting sick, feeling weak, starting from half way, knowing I was much better just a week ago. Plenty of marathon runners and body builders are smart arses saying it’s all fine with caloric deficit and weirdo diets, trouble is us mountain bikers have much more varied needs since we need both explosive strength and endurance. We need everything. It’s like trail running with breaks for crossfit.
  • 1 0
@WAKIdesigns: Again waki My training is for aesthetic purposes especially in the summer months.. Also my red meat intake is near nill.. When us start pushing sub %10 bf levels like I do my cocktail of bcaa/glutaimine/creatine is impairitive.. Intramuscular bcaa during intense workout is a proven huge cause of excelled protein synthesis... Why would u rob yourself of that? If I'm putting in crazy efforts and going for the hard uber lean look I wouldn't have it any other way.. If your just half assing it with other priorities /wife and kids as you say then Ya don't bother dude! I have different needs/goals! Shit just works.
  • 1 0
@WAKIdesigns: u just answered yourself... "we need everything as mountain bikers" Exactly what your not getting is I'm already in a deficit just by commuting to work 18km each way and then putting in full shifts at the fire dept doing even more work/training! Then riding on the weekends and some eve group rides! Despite the amount of calories I Ingest I'm still behind.. Especially if we get a ton of calls and your eating on the run! That is why it works for me... Your needs are probably vastly different! Like I said before.. I take it all!
  • 1 0
 @bohns1: Your reply confuses me.

If you're in a extreme caloric deficit for weeks while still training hard and you want to avoid losing too much muscle mass then getting more BCAA's has been shown to help your body maintain muscle mass more than without it.

If you eat a lot of meat (which contains a ton of BCAA's) and surpass your caloric intake, meaning if you eat a surplus than you no longer have to worry about losing muscle. The idea with BCAA's is that it's way less calories than eating a steak or chicken.

I think you are confused to the science behind BCAA's but whatever floats your boat and works for you.

All I was saying was WAKI's post was actually correct.
  • 1 0
@LiquidSpin: no I think ur confused.. Read my last comment to waki..
  • 1 0
@LiquidSpin: read up on protein synthesis.. You do not attain the same level of protein synthesis from a piece of chicken.. Nor do get the immediate effects of immediate nutritional uptake eating a piece of meat during a strenuous workout.. I use bcaa /glutamine during intraworkouts.. It all helps!
  • 1 0
@bohns1: check: From the very beginning I am saying that supplemental protein contains enough BCAA (and L glutamine) so that even more than average dude can get enough of it for his muscle growth. I was criticizing supplementing even further with pure BCAA spplements, particularly that bullsht BCAA pills and oils. If you yourself try to stay as lean as possible and want to limit caloric intake thrn I totally get you but we started with advising Mike Donut Levy. From what I read on BCAA and what you describe, you seem to fit that little niche where additional BCAA supplementation makes sense. What I still don’t get though is that I assume that for body building you do rather low rep workout promoting strength over endurance. So if I read you right your body should be built for high torque from lower cadence... Wink
  • 1 0
@WAKIdesigns: nope for bodybuilding I mix it all in.. I perform old-school movements but then mix that in with new school approaches such as what Jeff Cavaliere promotes for athletes.. I also do some cross fit stuff but prefer the strict form required by bodybuilding movements.. I get far better results that way

But I also saw him hit the last jump out of Canadian Open on my only trip to Whistler while chasing down some other bro/pros . He boosted it so much higher than everyone else that I thought he'd done something horribly wrong. He landed pretty much flat...and it looked like on a bed of pillows.

I didn't like the video, but having seen him up close, I realize it's more because he's an alien that makes ludicrous things look simple.

I want all his videos to be a follow cam so I can see this run linked up as one long piece, but they're cut and spliced so much

oh man, that cheeky little back-flip to manual @ 0:57 Blank Stare
  • 4 0
waiting for @scottsecco and his classic "voy" comment lol all semenuk vids are next level, cant pick one better tha the others!
  • 2 0
 @RedBurn haha I can't be too predictable.
  • 2 0
Seriously?? He just gets better and better. I’m in awe every time I watch one of his vids. Is there even one of us on this comment board that could blast through a chicane section at that kind of speed? His symmetry through just that was amazing. Equally proportioned roosts for f*cks sake. And that was just the little chicane slalom thingy. Still can’t figure out what he did in that next to last jump where it looked like he flicked off the top of the pine tree but didn’t? Idk. Guess I’m just a fanboy but I really like his vids. The guy’s got serious steez. No one can deny it.
  • 6 1
That 270 invert was the steeziest thing I've ever seen!!!
  • 1 0
Yep! Took me a while to get my head around it!
  • 5 0
 more airtime than Starman!
  • 5 1
 IS THERE LIFE ON MAAAAAAAAARS?
  • 2 5
@colincolin: there are some rovers created by life and they are alive in some sense. There would be at least one more if we got rid of this idiotic imperial unit system in the 1980s... Then there are highly posisbly some bacteria and maybe even water bears
  • 1 0
Well, that needed to be like 15 minutes longer. Brandon, your riding is unreal. Filming was top notch, but editing felt a little flat compared to past vids. Could have done without those repeated shots from above. You know you are spoiled when you can find something to complain about in a vid like that. Well done gents!!!
  • 4 2
This man is filthy, he is so filthy that he is a walking STD. Had to stop what I was doing to watch this video, and then I watched it again....and again...and again. That bit at 1:12, mind blown at how quick that is.
  • 4 0
It's like the bike is riding brandon instead of brandon riding the bike.
  • 5 0
 Brandon is the Bike.
  • 3 0
Great vid. Great camera work, and the music imho was very good, for a change..!
  • 3 0
1:59 though he was going for a flip whip on a DH bike lol By far one of my favorite edits
  • 4 1
Opening pinkbike to see a new Semenuk vid have me like.....*hardcore air humping*
  • 4 0
Semenuk is always pinned to 28.99
  • 4 1
If only them filmed/uploaded in 4k... anyone else think the picture quality on this vid was particularly grainy?
  • 1 1
What's so special about this? Bruce McDingleberry was making edits like this in the 90s with a Sony Handycam and a rim brake 26er. Let's see something original!

Just kidding that was sick. The air at the end was unbelievable I wanna know just how far he went!!

This is what big bike MTB slope artistry is all about. Bravo Brandon!
  • 2 0
wow what an excellent video! Saw a trailer for it on instagram this morning, happy to see the whole thing posted here. Keep up the great work!
  • 3 0
Everyone is trying to reach an ever changing goal post set by this two geniuses!
  • 2 1
i could foreal watch this dude ride a bike like, forever, and not get bored of it. just pull up a lawn chair and sit on a hill and relax and watch an entire session. it never gets old, the style is so effortless.
  • 2 0
Considering Brandon’s otherworldly precision and bike control it would be interesting to see how he could do in a DH World Cup.
  • 1 0
Maybe somewhere in top 50. I love this old video of him riding a downhill track and his super style is evident even on the smallest berms and features: www.youtube.com/watch?v=SLI0rTuT0AU
  • 2 0
you know when you see a new one of these that you will have a few good minutes of pure fun, enjoyment...and envy! the most stylish rider hands down...or off in his case!?

He hit those corners so hard they called the cops. Dope as hell, as per usual.
  • 4 0
That last big hit tho.... just a straight air but soooo sick
  • 1 0
Anyone who didn't get a little giddy watching that is out of their mind. Watching one of the best flow a trail is a treat for the retinas. Anyone saying 'been done", "unoriginal" is a total donkey. Hee Haww
  • 1 0
One of those videos where it ends and I'm like "no way in hell that was over 3 minutes".......I honestly could watch that all day except I might go blind. Absolutely amazing work Brandon and Rupert......just unbelievable
  • 2 0
How stiff is he running his suspension? it barely compresses. i know he is landing on a smooth transiotion but still...
  • 2 0
He runs his suspension and tire pressures pretty high. He's a big dude, so he likes the support and I think he likes thinks really firm. You can probably find a setup Q&A with his mechanic if you do a search.
  • 4 0
 Look's like session
  • 2 0
You do not have to like the Don but like it or not.... he is still the Don, haters or no....

  • 2 0
I'm not into flips and tricks so much, but Brandon's videos are a must see. So awesome!
  • 1 1
Incredible, but a little over done for Brandon.
Can we see him ride a trail on a short travel trail bike one of these days? I feel like his last 15 videos have all been super buff big jump lines.
  • 1 0
If there is one rider I wish I could be, it would be Brandon Semenuk. His riding skills and style blow my mind. Art in motion!
  • 2 0
It is strange that one of the world's best riders ever gets criticised for being boring. What does a person have to do!!!
  • 3 0
 Cool

Aluminium frame, double crown, 26s.... Isn't this completely un-woke?
  • 1 0
In the stills I am not even sure which direction he is headed, mostly. OK at least someof the time.
  • 1 0
Okay. So he doesn't pedal for the whole run, right? That is serious control. Might as well take the chain off.
  • 2 0
flip NFC on the step down was gnarly. incredible edit all around

  • 1 0
Looks like he cased the jump @ 2:17?
  • 2 0
I think he just landed so perfectly that you can't actually tell where he landed
  • 1 0
@YoungGun13: it doesn't really matter I know, but it just seemed like a pretty big impact by the size of the crater the tire made and how high he was on the landing.
I can't stop watching that step down at the end tho.....massive
  • 2 0
@pdxjeremy: Yeah, anybody trash-talking this needs to pull their head at least a little bit out of their ass. It's a wonderfully filmed, performed, and edited video
