the Claw as been robbed! Wink grabs popcorn.. Smile

What am i missing here? It seems the only difference between andreu's and semenuk's run is that he jump a little further to the left (looking up) and went a little deeper on that first drop? also how did zink beat strait, they took the same top line, except zink dumped a massive three then got stuck on the fire road then didnt hit any of the bottom features. While strait had a full run top to bottom. Regardless zink deserved best trick.

My ideal podium is
- andreu (but his score should have been bumped to like 91 or so)
- strait
- semenuk
- rheeder
- zink
  • - 2
Zink didn't beat Strait. look at my comment below. You and I have the same exact podium except the top 2 is switched. Regardless, great riding from all riders. I feel like I missed a couple 2nd runs. I didnt see Norbs second run, or Godzeik.
  • + 5
"great riding from all riders." couldnt agree more. This even is probably super difficult to judge fair, major props to the riders for showing up every rampage and putting on a show, regardless how they feel.
  • + 13
Switch 3 drop on a dh bike
  • + 4
Can I just say that nobody had such big elements, fluid riding and a gigantic flatspin as Andreu. The first drop is insane and every single element on the top is super-exposed. Deserved each and evey point he got.
  • + 4
 720 next year?
  • + 0
Kyles second run could rival Andreu's. Kyle huck with the suicide was killer. And Kyle was flowy and stylish and fast coming into that drop. And then he super manned the razor hit. Andreu did have a killer drop at the top that the live feed ddidnt show though

Rob Warner got rob from commentating this event.

 So good
  • + 1
Everyone that didn't crash but still came in below Zink.
  • + 0
won't count this as rampage at all! No claw, mc caul bros, sorge, doerfling and aggy.
  • + 32
I'm sooo bored of comments about judging.... I really enjoyed the contest- shame Aggy was out as he would have made it even more interesting. The most important thing is that everyone lived to fight another day.... All the riders put their lives on the line to give us one hell of a show. Andreu personifies the spirit of MTB and I'm hugely stoked for him.
  • + 24
i think semenuk should have been ranked higher. his second run was super technical fast an flowy. i also think the juges dident noticed that the second 3drop was oppo.
  • + 14
I was wondering if they noticed the switch three. Soooo sick!
  • + 2
I was wondering that they knew New things about this double fork system. Could you even imagine how awesome it would be to habe to forks omg this is science these commentators are gods. Thank you redbull i was so blind all the time
  • - 2
They noticed that it was opposide
  • + 20
I don't think anyone got robbed. I did think Strait's run might have been a bit better than Lecondeguy's. I thought Semenuks run was technically perfect. Rheeeder's run was awesome and f*cking Zink.....dont hit the fire road and Rampage was his to win. That 95.0 was way too early. I thought it should have been closer to 89.0-91.0 still impressive.

My podium would have been
1)Strait
2)Lecondeguy
3)Semenuk
4)Rheeder
5)Zink

Awesome rampage. We has Speed wheelies, Norby, Steel horses, bike pilots, Kyle strait looking for his second Rampage, not his third......I know I'm missing a couple other gold NBC announcing mistakes but it was cringeworthy at best.

yeah, effin Rampage. Cant wait till next year,

Kyle has won it 2 times..
  • + 10
yes, I know this but the announcer said "Kyle Strait looking for his second Rampage". No he was looking to be the first three time winner. I think he meant he was looking for a back to back rampage wins, but he got it completely wrong.
  • + 13
Ohh sorry i didn't understand your comment then
  • + 8
Dude you missed the best one:
first rider starts his second run
Totally-clueless-announcer: "The big question now is: will he change his LINE?"
dead silence...
Less-clueless-but-not-hyped-enough-announcer: "Well... he definitely wont change his line"

To make things worse, they had literaly discussed this 5 minutes beforehand...
  • + 6
 1) Semenuk
2) Strait
3) Lacondeguy
4) Zink

Great event, but there needs to be a more effective judging technique, im not saying i know a better way, but i am saying it seems to be a very controversial aspect of Rampage, for the last 2 years i have not come close to agreeing at judges scores, 95 was a travesty, regardless of scores these riders deserve respect no matter what line they take, they put their lives on the line to make our sport grow, props to all! and Thank you!
  • + 0
Even better 1 semenuk 2 rheeder 3 Lacondeguy 4 strait totally forgot how flowy and fast rheeders line was!
  • + 3
I don't understand why people believe the 95 was a traversty - nobody seemed to have an issue with Aggy scoring a 94 on the same line (and with an over rotated back flip) the day before.
  • + 3
that was also ridiculous! but it wasnt in the finals, but i agree with you, it was ridiculous to give aggy a 94 simply because an over rotated backflip is not grounds to score someone above 85
  • + 14
Is it me, or 2013 and 2014 were way more technical than 2012 and the ones before that? It is impressive how progressive this is getting. First, a few were jumping canyons.... then, it is like a canyon backflip sale, and now, they are literally jumping off cliffs... like nothing happened!??!?!

Where it will stop? I hope it will never be on a grave!!! I hope it will always end with high fives, cheering, celebration and stuff like that!!!

Keep it coming!!!

I truly love mtbiking!!!

Soccer my ass!!! My soccer team never wins anyways!!! f*cking Palmeiras!!!! MTB for life!!!
  • + 10
What is it about a 360 off of a drop that seems so much more "Freeride" than a backflip off of a kicker? It's like that 360 is pure Bearclaw, native to our sport whereas the backflip is a inheritance from BMX and Moto.
For me, both Strait and Semenuk laid it down.

 john tomac got robbed

 so did Baz De Beaver

The crowd needs to vote next year.
  • + 23
If the crowd voted Semenuk would win it every time no matter what.
  • - 1
The crowd did vote. And because of all the fanbois semenuk ended up being peoples choice.
  • + 11
its hard not to admire a guy who does every trick in the book and then some, plus doing them with mindblowing perfection, the dudes arguably if not definitely the best freerider in history, hes been setting the bar since he was 15, we have good freeriders, the elite and then theres Semenuk, potatoes goun potate
  • + 8
Man there's a lot of Strait loyalists on this page. You guys give that man too much credit, as usual. He deserved his spot if not higher (like 6th or 7th). Yes he did pull another massive no hander but then again he did that last year. Speaking of last year his run was very similar; one huge no-hander and the rest of his run was phoned in (some big whips and some tech lines). Not deserving of the title where I'm sitting, especially with all the other riders that day who decided to pull MORE than one huge trick and whip everything else. Semenuk did deserve 2nd WAY MORE than zink did. You guys have to be smart enough to see that at least. You didn't see Semenuk riding on the fire road for 20 seconds either and coasting over the lower half.
  • + 8
I hear that. It would have been weird if Strait won again. To be fair, there was more to his run than one big drop and a couple whips. I do think Strait's/Zink's upper section was particularly sick and a much needed dose of insane technical line choice. And even though we've seen the no-hander more than once now, I mean, dude, holy F. Strait sends it massive every year, he's grown with the venue, nothing is too big for him, and that superman was dope, too (and he was pretty much the only one who pulled, and landed, something other than a variation of the backflip or 360). I also thought Strait was one of the few whose 2nd run was distinguished from his first. Dude's got balls. Too much credit? I see what you're saying, but I don't think any of these riders could be given too much credit. Semenuk/Rheeder deserved higher, but they also seem to have topped out in terms of going huge. Rampage is all just nastiness to the n-th degree. Fantastic all around. Stoked for Andreu.
  • + 1
All good points. At least this year I'm completely satisfied with the victor. Andreu was superman that day and deserves every second of this. I can't say the same about last year. (I've been beating this dead horse for too long) Kelly McGarry deserved the win way more than Strait. His massive never before attempted by any rider backflip over the much narlier canyon gap (which nearly killed zink in 2012 practice) and the other 2 huge flips Kelly did was much more impressive than straits no hander. Like my argument above strait whipped everything else. Kelly missed one jump below and the judges penalized him. Like I said dead horse, I'm over it
  • + 1
 agreed!!
  • - 2
kyle strait needs to stop it with the suicide no handers, just let it go bro, try maybe.. errr... a heel clicker since u love moto! or how about a.... ummmm backflip can! yeah there we go, but please plase no more no handers!! and no more bullshit no hander wins! or fire road line 2nd places!
  • + 1
Ok he's pulled the no handed in the last 2 rampages but in this year's event he pulled it on exactly the same drop that Andrea just dropped with no trick all be it he and aggy did build it. Maybe Strait got marked down for that, does that happen ?
  • + 2
He did help build the drop. Do you guys honestly think Aggy and Andreu would let him hit if he didn't help? Kyle has been doing this for way too long, he knows the rules. No Dig, No Ride! As far as the no-hander goes, most riders perfect certain tricks so they can do them anywhere, anytime. Some are backflips or 360's like Zink, Andreu does his flat three, McGarry is the king of backflips and Strait nails Supermans and suicide no-handers... No one else even attempted to trick that drop. If you were there you would realize how steep and sketchy it truly was. All the riders are awesome and kill it out there.
  • + 8
semenuk, you´re the man! what a great run, maybe this time not enough for the win, but a great demonstration that he is one of the most versatile riders in the mtb game
  • + 7
semenuk did a regualer 360 first run and then an oppo 360 his second and only I belive it was a .25 difference between both scores? I think the judges should try and do an oppo 3 on dh bike
  • + 2
 sorry 1.25 difference*
  • + 8
Sorge needs to stop hurting himself before rampage
  • + 6
No Sorge, Bizet and Aggy. And a no show for Gee Atherton. All potential winners. It would be awesome to have a year when nobody is injured and everyone participates.
  • + 4
I also wonder what Logan Binggeli would be doing this year if he never broke his leg last year.
  • + 3
 Claw
  • + 5
how can you tell if its an oppo? does it depend on which is his leading foot? so im left foot forward so an oppo for me is spinning anti clockwise is that it?
  • + 2
Semenuk got robbed. If the judges scores had been a little closer and top five spots decided by hundredths into the second round, then we'd see riders pushing the edge farther and no one would be complaining about the score outlier so vastly different than so many similar runs. As a result we the viewer would have gotten a second run from Andreu and Zink tricking that lower jump instead of a straight air or whip. I came in wanting Andreu to win and left frustrated that Zink didn't trick that lower jump. It was a great Rampage and I am thankful to RedBull and Contestants for their efforts each. Have a great off season and I'm pumped for next year. P.S. Rogatkin seemed out of his depth for sure. Excited to see the change in his riding in the coming year. He has the talent, now it's just time on the bike.
  • + 3
Semenuk should have won. Because of this injustice I am boycotting YT bikes, yep you heard right. Next year i will not be buying or riding a YT bike. Im just a lil guy but I will bring big change to the world.
  • + 14
 That's hardcore. You're crazy
  • + 2
Judges did a great job this year and I just wanna say THANK YOU! Thank you for protecting the unique spirit of rampage! Because every time I'm watching this event I'm super stoked not to see the best! I'm stoked to see things that I didn't even believe to be possible! ...Brandon's run was perfect! It has flow, creative line, big tricks... it was the best run I could imagine! But Zink's top section and 360 and whole Andrew's MASSIVE line!!! I wouldn't even belive that it's possible if i didn't see that!! In fact I would put Strait on 3rd place, his line was insane too, but it's very close... and they got almost same point's... So I totaly understand and think that thay did a great job!! Thank you!
  • + 5
What about the canyon gap frontflip!!!! That was cray cray!!!!
  • + 2
i can't wait for next year what he is going to do...
  • + 3
Would of been awesome to see him land it. Had a feeling he was gonna try it after seeing his huge front flip to dirt back in July. Where do you think it would of stacked up score wise. I think the set up of the new site was unbalanced though. On route to the canyon you were never gonna score enough points to compete with more vertical gnarlier drop in's
  • + 6
 Good job Brandon!
  • + 1
Strait should have got a lot higher, if not 1st, but I don't think the judges were going to award him a second win. He had speed and flow , hitting as much as he could - both times. Still Andreu should have given a second run - he had nothing to loose or prove - take it fun all the way down for the crowd.
  • + 4
Nothing to lose? Tell that to Logan Binggelli - broken femur on his second run last year.
  • + 0
Yes, but as I said take it fun - meaning not risky or pushing anything. Logan was going for it.
  • + 1
I'm glad Semenuk didn't win, though his run was tip top and amazing to watch...... but it ain't a slopestyle competition beeeoooootch! The judges seemed to lean more towards rewarding the all out gnar, as opposed to a heavily slope influenced run.

Zink's 360 was about the sketchiest and scariest that I've ever seen. WTF that landing? So heavy........

Stoked to see McGarry walk away from his sender case, but I hope the other couple guys who didn't (WTF that front flip?!?!) are back on their bikes soon.

Agassiz would've been damn near that podium had he not tweaked his knee.

Amazing year but time to increase the rider payout.
  • + 4
Semenuk and 3rd place in the same sentence. Somethings wrong
  • + 4
 That front flip tho!!!!!!
  • + 0
For all of you saying that Andreu didn't deserve such a high score, go check out the POV videos that have been released and compare them. He's just ripping the whole time (like lightspeed), gets just huge amplitude on one of the gnarliest lines on the course, and is smooth as silk.
  • + 4
WHO CARES! ALL THESE COMMENTS ARE POINTLESS, LET IT GO ALREADY!!!
  • + 3
man the comment section is the most entertaining thing most of us see all day...
  • + 0
lol I hear ya. But really all these people talking about the commentators, riders got robbed, scored Lacondeguy to high (which they did), judges suck and more crying and crying on here! It's like stop crying and deal with it. Shit was F R E E and dope ass hell to watch these crazy MUDERF****rs!!!
  • + 4
The oppo 360 was so sick
  • + 2
Amazing, for such a steep course, it did seem safer this year….
  • + 2
Whats happen godziek and your second run ? Tom van steenbergen its ok ?
  • + 2
 The Canfield Brothers got.....bikes
  • + 2
is the event staying in this zone for next year?
  • + 3
if it is everyone is going to want aggy's line
  • + 2
not sure..off course the site was great, but i dont think theres a lot of new line possibilities left. They cant go any gnarlier than vertical at the top and the bottom is just to flat. In the vids you can see just how many lips and landings they build-they are everywhere, cant remember the old site to look like that after 3 years... Hoping for a complete new site in Utah!
  • + 1
I'm with you on this one. There doesn't seem anywhere to go with this site now. The winner was only ever gonna come from one of the five riders who dropped straight in. If we came back next year almost everybody would have to run a slight variation of a similar line if the were serious about winning. Last year there were three different drop in directions all capable of winning.
  • + 1
old school rampage was so much better in my opinion.
  • - 2
I'm curious why people complain about the 95.0 that Andreu got when Aggy got 94.0 on exactly the same line in Qualifiers with no complaints and everyone was stoked? just curious.
  • + 4
Cause compared to everyone in quails he smashed it.
  • + 1
the sunlight hurt the judges eyes on semenuk's run! am so disapointed on that rampage for sure Andreu did an insane season, i have so much respect for him and what he's able to send... But Brandon, Brett, and Cam should be on the podium... Line, flow, Tricks, Speed... they ruled'em all!
  • + 1
TreymotleyDH - Peoples runs aren't scored on "how did they do compared to everyone else" though - they are scored on the criteria for marking - so whether Aggy destroyed the competition in quails is irrelevant - he scored a 94 because his run deserved it not because the other qualifiers weren't as good.
  • + 1
Yeah idealy that's how it's supposed to go. But if everyone before aggy didn't really throw down, but he did. He's gonna get a very high score in points. Even the judges don't try to. Subconsciously they'll give a higher score. If you were judging a comp and you saw the same thing a couple times like a barspin and then boom some dude does a flipwhip over a huge gap or something. You're gonna give them a super duper high score because compared to the other guys he blew everyone else out of the waywr
  • + 2
Even if that was the case you can only score them higher in one of the four sections - tricks. Lacondeguy's and Aggy's runs ticked all the boxes - they had flow, speed, amplitude, tricks, hardcore line choice, style, everything - if anything I'd argue Zinks run better mirrors your example - where one single stand out trick overly inflated his overall score as the bottom half of his run was non-existent.
  • + 2
I think this was the issue with the scoring. Having scored Aggy so high for his super sick but not clean by at means qualy run. Andreu was always gonna get a massive score if he cleaned the same line which he did, no problem with him winning. It was a crazy run. Just think with such a gap to first place everybody knew it was over after the first runs which spoiled it a bit.
  • + 1
Nobody got robbed, Andreu Lacondeguy just got ''overpayd''!
  • + 2
 SHAME ON YOU JUDGES!!!!!
