Great coverage. Red bull are doing a terrific job. But the combo of Warner and Claudio just isn't working in my opinion. I'm not for a second suggesting that Warner go back to the days of being drunk in the commentary box but it's just so dull. Claudio is a legend in his course previews but just doesn't cut it as a commentator and the two don't bounce off one another at all. I think when Rob had Cunny with him, it was a far more compelling combination. Watch Stevie Smith's run from Mont Saint Anne or Leogang. The commentary was on point and added to ththe excitement of it. Now very lack luster in my opinion.
Great coverage of the race, it's truly amazing to have this available streaming across the world!
One comment though, At the camera covering the root section with the bridge drop, it would have been nice to have had the branches trimmed on the upper section of that camera's zone. A number of riders had some trouble in that upper section and it would have been nice to see it on camera instead of looking at branches. 10 minutes with a pruning would have giver that camera quite a bit of additional footage.
Agree. Trim the branch or add a couple more cameras to cover the techy bits. Missed seeing where a lot of the trouble spots were. Camera work was just OK, I thought.
Thanks PB, finally get to watch the replay sans spoilers! I actually held up a piece of paper to block headlines lol. Awesome coverage with Claudio and Rob.
I'd recommend doing away with comments section on the replay page. Some computers/smart tv's go crazy and start scrolling down uncontrollably, and your eye catches someone's comment @results. Rebulls replay page has this same mistake, showing results below player box.
Warner seemed extremely dull in this race. Hopefully he can get back with a bit more energy next week. I don't think I ever need to hear him explain Enduro during a race ever again.
Warner has been to commentator school.....red bull sent him....pretty much "get more pro or go". The old beer fuelled commentaries are history.....big shame!
It was carnage in the women's race, at the start they had three or four on track and no one had actually completed the course! Rachel and Tawny were the few that managed to stay on and get down without binning it, track was super Gnarly in those trees the camera makes it look flat in comparison, you struggle to walk it let alone ride a bike, kudos to all those that did!
All respect for both Claudio and Warner. However, I think I speak for many on this forum, Robb has been really dull this year. Maybe it's no booze, maybe it's that him and Claudio just don't jive as well as announcing partners, etc. I REALLY like Robbb's enthusiasm AND expertise on the sport. But something just isn't right both here and the Lordes commentary as well
is it just me, or has the commentary really gotten ... blah? Compared to when Freecaster streamed WCDH, Rob was so bloody out of control, his commentary was at times more exciting then the rider. Paired with Claudio...just...where is the crazy Rob excitement???? just saying
There was an impact damage to Harry Heath's (Norco Factory Racing) rim, but it was missed, and it lasted through training. Once the team was at the start (for Harry’s finals run), they discovered that the tire had lost air and was leaking due to rim damage. They pumped it up again, but Harry was losing air on the track and hit a rock very hard just before the drop and another one after, so his rear wheel collapsed while having, basically a flat tire. We`re in close contact with Norco Factory Racing and their wheel sponsor. Since then, they have solved all issues. They have told us they would not race without Procore in the future.
Did anybody see the guy crash on the road gap?? Sooooo funny, proper showboater........loose as anything on way in, pretty sure he left the lip with one foot in the air, turned waved for the cameras then landed. It was only after his landing he couldn't make the turn n washed out. THAT GUY deserves a medal (insert salut smilie here)
"Not a trade team"..? Does this mean the opposite of say Giant or Specialized? Cuz Santa Cruz is first position on all their badging as far I can tell..serious question Awesome win for Minnaar! Let the V10 vs Demo debate rage on!
It's been posted on here a few times, but I think it has something to do with the Syndicate jerseys not conforming to UCI standards. Or something stupid like that.
I've watched world cup since 2008 with Rob Warner and I was never as disappointed as yesterday with commentary... Bring Cunny or Nigel Page BACK!!!! And MInnaar.. pretty good result for a trade team, so stoked for him!
And f*cking Santa Cruz posted "WINNER" with a pic on Instagram before I could watch this. I looked away as soon as I could and didn't see the name but at that point I knew it was Minnaar or Bryceland who won.
