Video: Remy Metailler & Richie Schley Ride Hangover Trail in Sedona

by Rémy Métailler

During the Sedona Mountain Bike Festival, freeride legend Richie Schley and I went for a spin on the famous Hangover. Unfortunately, we got caught in a bit of windstorm and were not able to ride some of the alternative lines, but it was still a fun lap and another must ride in Sedona.

See the trail on Trailforks here.

That trail is unreal. Some of the locals never put their feet down and clear everything. The climbing is technical and requires extreme fitness. I have to say that it felt as though Remy would have gone faster and cleared everything had he been in the lead. Kudos to anyone who can ride this and only put their feet down 10 times or less.

Its a wild one for sure...and some of the bonus lines after the traverse where it opens up are wild.

The hardest climb on the whole loop is the rock staircase on Mund's wagon. Maybe tied with the tech climb off the rock slab where you have to hop around the tree.

I was looking forward to a Shleybletop, but the conditions did not look condusive to that happening. Thank goodness I watched the video to the end, Richie never fails to deliver.

Just recently viewed this Nate Hills vid of - "Follow Cam Friday", shows how challenging if its pedaled at pace with precision as done by Nate's crew

 What is Richie carrying??

He had a drone... But due to the wind, he carried it for nothing. Got me an advantage to keep up on the uphills though!

Way above my pay grade. Insane how closely the Frenchman was following Richie. Two thumbs up !!!

I grew up watching Richie’s segments. I loved his segments. Cool seeing him on the new Fezzari La Sal Peak too!

What are the chances, in such a large area, that you just happen to run into Margus Riga and Kenny Smith.

What if I told you I might have run into them, again the next day?

@remymetailler: I'd say you have better luck than me!

Looks like a wild trail. How long would it take a newbie?

Probably 3 hours total from the car and back.

Credit to the local shredders that showed both of them the secret lines. Mango likes bike!

That trail sucks and so do most in Sedona ..I guess if u like just technical climbing all day with a quick little teaser descents..then Sedona is for you
