Video: An Adventure in the Dolomites with Richie Schley in 'The Draw'

by Richie Schley

Do you even feel the absolute need to do something or go somewhere? That is The Draw. I have been going to the Italian Dolomites annually for several years now. During my time at home, I kept thinking about the Dolomites and something inside me was drawing me to head there as soon as it was possible.

Mountain biking in these majestic mountains is one of my favorite locations to ride in the world. My choice was to take my ebike and meet up with Ale Di Lullo and Stefano Davarda to explore new trails and terrain that they had discover while the rest of the world was at home.

Riding ebikes in Val di Fassa opens up all kinds of possibilities that lifts don't go to.

Enjoy the ride as Pat Parnell narrates our journey.

From The Film The Draw by Ale Di Lullo and Richie Schley.

Beautiful footage. Narration was overkill and detracted from it imho.

Yep, the footage speaks for itself.

@tacklingdummy: my chess speaks for itself

Narration was lame. I had to mute it.

Yeah the narration was a bit over the top. All I could think about were the commercials for the show "Stanley Tucci: Searching for Italy"

@dresendsit: great show. This one… not so much.

I stoped watching when he said "e-bikes are the obvious choise". I don't see any obviousness in that statement

I didn’t start watching after I read this: “Riding ebikes in Val di Fassa opens up all kinds of possibilities that lifts don't go to.”

Meh.

@nateb: I didn't read that, so I started... But you came to the comenta anyway

He did say "when goal is to ride as much (Dolmite) terrain in the shortest amount of time" i couldn't agree more, actually. If i were invested in a trip as such and having an opportunity to ride a quality- proven E with the other riders i'd say what hell why not and i'm not a fan of them nor do i promote them.

Try watching "TrailNinja" videos on YT... I'ts an Italian guy that does similar videos... But more spectacular... With a normal bike...

@apokolokyntosis: nice video, proper bike skills, good music, thanks

@apokolokyntosis: "normal" bike ... the fact that there's something as "not normal" bike makes me want to puke

@vhdh666: eh eh eh… I’ll never force myself to use the term “muscular”

Cos you wouldn’t be watching anyway, you’d still be pushing up the 1st climb

 @cashew: thanks! beautiful

Yup. Saw Dolomites ask was like "sweet". Saw Fezzari and E-bike and went straight here to say I'm not watching this. Lol

Most cliches I’ve ever heard. But I liked it.

E-bikes suck. How to ruin a great video

"Do you even feel the absolute need" to Have you ever had a dream that you, um, you had, your, you- you could, you’ll do, you- you wants, you, you could do so, you- you’ll do, you could- you, you want, you want them to do you so much you could do ebiking!

I have a dream. I was rolling a giant donut down the street and there was this mean looking snake, wearing a vest. He was yelling something at me but it was all ssses so I wasn’t sure, plus I was super focused on rolling the donut and it was picking up speed cause it was starting to go down hill and….. oh need! Haha sorry I got confused.

 @Intense4life: Effing hilarious!!!
  • 7 0
Agreed. It’s hard to make a visual mess of the stunning and incredible Dolomiti but seemingly easy to make an aural mess with 1980’s style narrative

A big bag of cheese…cool views though

Interesting that the first ridgeline they are riding UP the EWS queen stage top section. Having ridden that a number of times, I cant imagine it is that much fun to ride up. So much to ride over there but sadly you would want an e-bike as it is so steep. Trails were not built for bikes.

So the ebike opens up all kinds of trails lifts don't go to? Good that they chose riding up the iconic tutti frutti ridge as their opener... Which is very easily accessed by gondola from Campitello.

Val di Fassa. The bike destination where they will sell you the lift tickets, but refuses to let you take the lift if your not with a "guide". f*cking worst place on earth to ride.

Love riding in the Dolomites! Some of the most beautiful mountains I’ve ever seen in the world. Great vid guys!!

Isn't this the guy that got roasted for posting pics of him riding fresh burnt zones..what a kook..get off the lame ebike too those things suck
  • 5 4
imagine calling richie schley a kook.
  • 11 10
@Ironchefjon: Rickey Schley is a kook. Has been since the 90's. Guy was always a pretty average rider but has somehow meeked out a career doing cheesy shit and riding for noname euro brands.
  • 9 2
@calebscott: so by no name you mean GT when he started BMX back in the 80's or do you mean Rocky Mountain when he was with Tippie and Simmons just starting the freeride scene?? Go research the guys career before you shit on it for no reason!!
  • 9 0
Down voting doesn't change facts!! The guy is a freeride pioneer!! Love to see you as an "average rider" hit 20'+ drops. Richie is far from an "average rider" lmao. Just because you don't remember his skills doesn't mean he didn't have any. Funny how you can bash a legend while you're over here selling bikes that haven't seen action in over a decade!! Nice 08 boxxer lmao!! You probably don't even ride!!

 Still a phuquing kook@mhoshal:
  • 2 1
@calebscott: You say kook like it's a bad thing. Literally every human that did anything noteworthy was in fact a kook. So by that metric, you sir are no kook.

How do you expect us obese older Americans to get uphill without a ebike
  • 1 0
Personally really enjoyed this and dug the classic mountaineering/ski movie vibes. Felt very Warren Miller. The product placement and the narration were only mild detractors.
  • 1 0
Also pretty amused that the ebike zealotry runs so deep on pinkbike that people are willing to attack classic riders and pioneers
  • 1 0
Why does Pat always sound so robotic. Not a fan of his Rampage announcing either, yikes!
  • 2 1
No way! All this with an ebike? Wow. I rarely stop watching a video in PB...
  • 2 0
 [X] at ebike.

Does Richie Schley also sell Invisalign? He reminds me a lot of my old dentist
  • 2 0
 E bikes are the best!
  • 1 0
At what point do we just ride dirtbikes?
  • 4 3
 Dick Schley!
  • 1 0
 Why?
  • 3 0
@likeittacky: because Richie is an analog of the name Richard, which is frequently shortened to "Dick" ie Richard "Dick" Nixon.
  • 1 0
If that's really his point but i doubt that.
  • 1 0
 Pretentious narration.
