Located 20 minutes from downtown Vernon in the North part of the Okanagan, Silver Star Bike Park has emerged as one of the top places to ride DH. Featuring 50 km of DH and more than 35 km of XC trails Silver Star Bike Park is also an IMBA Silver Ride Centre with trails for beginners, flow style berm trails for intermediate and advanced riders and pro lines available, there is something for everyone. I met up with local park pro’s Bas van Steenbergen, Noah Brousseau and we were joined by guest riders Tyler McCaul and Troy Brosnan to spend a few days shredding the park.

Getting out to enjoy one of the many beautiful lakes in the Okanagan after a hot day at the hill is just one of the many perks of valley living and the perfect way to end three days in the bike park.

That's a wrap for our trip to Vernon and Silver Star, but keep your eyes peeled for a video of all the action dropping soon.

You guys need to quit playing around with the css effects on your photos. Makes me nauseous just scrolling down that thing and having random photos zooming in and out and around.
  • + 2
That always gets to me too.
  • + 6
Especially with chrome and its choppy scrolling.

 Another EPIC photo-epic Smile

We were just there for a week. Our 4th summer trip. Going back for 2 weeks in 2016! Pipe Dream is awesomesauce, and it's lower bermfest is a leg killer. Love riding here, just wish they had some family/children friendly activities at the resort such as a pool
  • + 7
jesus, whips are awesome but how bout some variety. photos of pros blasting rocks and roots and chunder are awesome. especially these dudes.Give me some gnar, or are smooth bermy jump trails what downhill has become
  • + 5
Kinda what I thought looking at this. The trails look awesome fun but its not what DH is in my mind. I suppose one could argue that they are indeed going downhill so thus it is DH lol.
  • + 1
There are some seriously rocky and rooty trails as well, but a good portion of the park is jumps/berm trails
  • + 1
^ there were only 2 rocky tracks when i was there last year. The jumps and berm trails were pretty well done though. I would visit once if you're in the area but i would not go out of my way to get there. most of the trails are suitable for a 6" AM bike.
  • + 1
Well, more roots than rocks. SS has been considered one of the best bike parks in North America, way better than Panorama or Kicking Horse; the two nearest mountains to me; and worth visiting. Though If you're looking for a ton of super rough and technical trails, I'd agree that it probably isn't the mountain for you.
  • + 2
don't get me wrong it's a good resort, I'd prefer to ride SS over my home mountain, Northstar, any day! but i didnt like it enough to make a exclusive trip back, i'd go if it was a 1 or 2 day stop on a trip.
  • + 1
That's fair. Maybe try Sun Peaks, if you haven't. I've never been there, but I've heard that it's pretty good; more technical than SS.
  • + 2
If you need roots, rocks, steeps, and more roots, more rocks, more steeps. May I suggest Nelson BC.... More roots, rocks, and steeps than you can shake a "selfie-stick" at!

p.s. we do have a few berms...
  • + 1
Get enough tech on my local trails. I go to bike parks for the jumps and berms and speed. Also Brosnans body position when he jumps is phenomenal he gets that elbow up so high, almost looks like a karate move. If he does not injure himself I think he will win the overall next years WC , BOOM
  • + 2
How about downtown, days downhill, flow, gnar , double dog. There are some tech trails there you just didn't find them!
  • + 1
^ i rode every trail in the park aside from a few green ones. downtown dags and gnar were rocky and steep. double dog was sick but wouldn't call it gnarly.
