The Beginning Of The End

Blog Entry #2Summer has ended plans for the new season our afoot and already post summer blues have hit. Looking back at pictures and video's of a fantastic summer I realise how lucky I am to be able to ride in such a great country with such a great trails network. This year in Scotland saw people really take up an initiative to start small local races that where affordable, fun and a cheaper way to enjoy a race day environment. The first of which I came across was the Braefoot Invitational in November 2009, I didn't make it along but it sounded like a great event and it has encouraged smaller race's to spring up around my local area such as the Bonaly DH races and the Edinburgh race series. I also plan to host a pre-season DH race at the boat of garten trails and hopefully this will turn out to be a great success. When well established race series such as SDA and BDS charge up to £60 to race. While these races our of great standard and organization the high race entry fee's means it put's many people off racing in these races including me.

A great summer has given me lots of ideas to use for next season and pre-season. I remembered that the reason we all first pick a bike up is to have fun and enjoy time spent with mates. Sometimes we forget this and all our attention is focussed towards winning races and ranking points. So i challenge you that next season remember why you started biking and bike in that spirit.
